To invite 8 out of 13 girls from DD's class?

DD is in Y1 and she will be having a party at home (with an activity) for her birthday.

There are 13 girls in her class, and she wants to invite 8 of them - meaning that 9 girls would be at the party (including her), and 4 girls wouldn't be invited.

Is that bad? I can't decide! Don't have room for all of them so if the consensus is that it's bad I will tell her she can only invite 7 - which is a slightly better ratio of invited/not invited!

Sorry, I think that's a bit mean for a Yr 1 class.

Findahouse21 · 18/11/2021 23:02

Yes, I think it is really mean

TeenTitan007 · 18/11/2021 23:04

Yes, invite

Antonia2021 · 18/11/2021 23:05

Yes , all or less else it’s a bit unkind especially so young

AJ1425 · 18/11/2021 23:06

I wouldnt, most of the girls are invited so really not nice for the left out ones.

Daisy4569 · 18/11/2021 23:06

Seems a bit harsh. Would your DD be upset if she didn’t make the cut on one of her invitees birthdays but 8 others did?

SuperSleepyBaby · 18/11/2021 23:06

I would never do this. Either all or a small group

Underthestairsbears · 18/11/2021 23:06

Definitely not a good move and not kind.

JohnStonesMissus · 18/11/2021 23:09

No that's mean..

sal1223 · 18/11/2021 23:10

Definitely not - I'm sure you could squeeze them all in they're only little

JohnStonesMissus · 18/11/2021 23:12

Inviting 7 isn't much better tbh, so that'll be 8 in total including your DD, it's only one less and it's still crap for the few left behind...

sunflowerroses · 18/11/2021 23:12

Are there also boys in the class? If so I think it's ok. I always do less than half the class or everyone. I don't worry if they're boys or girls.

Rubadubdub21 · 18/11/2021 23:13

This is why I've hired a hall and invited the whole class. I think its mean to exclude others at that age. Your DD might end up getting excluded. Parents talk.

FlyingSoHigh · 18/11/2021 23:15

Of course it's a mean thing to do. But you know that.

Fr0thandBubble · 18/11/2021 23:15

@sunflowerroses. Yes there are boys in the class - it's a class of about 30 children. Sorry - should have said that in my initial post.

Urgh, I am panicking now! We could invite fewer girls and maybe a few boys? But the activity is painting-related - not sure boys would be into it?

Greasyjane · 18/11/2021 23:16

Yeah that’s too many-less than half or all I’m afraid

LynetteScavo · 18/11/2021 23:17

If she's going to be 6 tell her she can invite 6 friends

Hunderland · 18/11/2021 23:17

Why wouldn't you invite all the girls?

Fr0thandBubble · 18/11/2021 23:19

@hunderland Because the party is at our house and we don't have room for all! The planned activity would also be difficult with so many. And DD also really doesn't like one of the girls.

Hmm
Motherdare · 18/11/2021 23:21

This would be a horrible, horrible thing to do. Please don’t be so cruel.

Jujujuly · 18/11/2021 23:24

Sorry, I think it’s a mean idea to invite nearly all but not all the girls. Also not quite sure why boys wouldn’t be into painting…you might want to rethink your attitudes there.

LibrariesGiveUsPower45321 · 18/11/2021 23:24

Less than half (which includes your dd) or all. Really harsh to leave a few out, and can seriously affect the dynamics in school at that age.

VsgKitt · 18/11/2021 23:25

@coldsandinsleepingbags

But the activity is painting-related - not sure boys would be into it?

Hmm

I had a Tshirt painting party for DD.

The girls LOVED it. The 3 boys invited just moaned, painted ganja leaves on the shirts and asked why we didn't have a bouncy castle 😂😂😂

Disneyvillain · 18/11/2021 23:28

Either all the girls or 6 in total, so 5 friends.
