Aibu to find 17c too cold at home?

Apparently I'm crazy for finding 17c too cold.

I'm currently wearing a top, a hoodie and a big blanket/hoodie thing and I still have a cold nose.

Please tell me I'm not crazy and 17c is bloody cold to have it at home. What temp is your perfect temp at home in the evening?

Yes 17c is cold! 20c is nice and toasty for a winter evening.

Sapphire387 · 02/11/2021 18:57

I keep my thermostat on 22c

Horst · 02/11/2021 18:57

My house feels cold at 18-19c if I’m just sitting on the sofa doing nothing. Moving it’s ok but relaxing no it’s cold.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 02/11/2021 18:58

Sitting still always feels colder.

Itwasgoodwhileitlasted · 02/11/2021 18:58

22 is ideal if sitting still

WildWombat · 02/11/2021 18:59

Ours is set to 18 which is on the stingy side I admit.

FourTeaFallOut · 02/11/2021 18:59

Temperature here is 20.9c. It'll switch off at 21c and then kick in again when it gets to 20c. This is perfect for us.

17c would be too cold for me.

GrolliffetheDragon · 02/11/2021 18:59

We're at 17.2 now. It is cold. Heating is turned on if it goes below 17. Thermostat is set to 18. 20 would be much nicer.

devildeepbluesea · 02/11/2021 19:00

19-20° is ideal. ExDH used to have his thermostat set at 16° when we first met. I soon changed that.

WorraLiberty · 02/11/2021 19:00

20 for us is usually fine and we've got quite a drafty open plan lounge.

Shmithecat2 · 02/11/2021 19:00

Yanbu. I've got the thermostat at 23, and I also lit the fire at lunchtime today.

Coffeeandteevee · 02/11/2021 19:00

Honestly it's like living in an icebox (currently not living in our own home so have no say over the temp). I dream of 22!

My house is heated to 17 we just put layers on!

AnitaMani · 02/11/2021 19:01

Mine is set at 16.5, I prefer to wear more clothes and not have a stuffy house.

Babymamamama · 02/11/2021 19:01

I’m lucky that my home is extremely well insulated and is usually around 22 degrees without heating on. I would feel very chilly at 17 degrees.

BookShop · 02/11/2021 19:02

22 any colder and I feel it.

BigButtons · 02/11/2021 19:03

I would have it a bit warmer sometimes- if it struggles when it’s very cold, but can’t afford the bills if it’s set higher. We have all got used to it and I find hotter houses suffocating

Can you plug in a fan heater?
ancientgran · 02/11/2021 19:04

I have mine on at 21, but DH is disabled and feels the cold and I have arthritis in my hands which is more painful if it is too cold, so I've moved up from 20 to 21 or sometimes 22.

LaikO · 02/11/2021 19:04

17-18c would be perfect for me, but we heat it to 19-21c for the kids. I really dislike the heat though so would prefer the house to be on the chillier side.

PoshWatchShitShoes · 02/11/2021 19:04

Currently staying in an Airbnb for a few months during building works... horrible landlord. Pleased to have the thermostat at 23.5c. It's so lovely and toasty 😂

NannyR · 02/11/2021 19:05

17-18 is just right for me, my thermostat is showing 14 at the home and I'm not uncomfortably cold, just wearing normal clothes. Everyone has different tolerance levels of temperature - I get very uncomfortable if it's too hot (>23), and really don't enjoy heatwaves.

delilahbucket · 02/11/2021 19:05

18 during the day when moving around, 20 in the evening if not active. Even then I still get a blanket out while DH sits there in shorts and a t-shirt!

TheCanyon · 02/11/2021 19:05

My heating currently says it's 22.5, it's lies. I'm freezing! 17, I think I'd cry.

megletthesecond · 02/11/2021 19:05

Yanbu. That's chilly if you're not active.
