Aibu to find 17c too cold at home?

Apparently I'm crazy for finding 17c too cold.

I'm currently wearing a top, a hoodie and a big blanket/hoodie thing and I still have a cold nose.

Please tell me I'm not crazy and 17c is bloody cold to have it at home. What temp is your perfect temp at home in the evening?

House is set at 18c which is fine when being active. Upstairs gets a boost just before we get up and just before bedtime, but other than that we add jumpers or blankets. In the evenings we have a wood burner in the lounge and if you want to be sat still and warm then we have to be sociable and it means the kids are not just stuck in their bedrooms …

TuftyMarmoset · 02/11/2021 19:23

Yabu, if it was outside it would be fairly warm but when it’s indoors people suddenly find it freezing. 17 is tshirt weather.

Georgyporky · 02/11/2021 19:25

23 for us

TwoBlueFish · 02/11/2021 19:27

Ours is set at 18, we occasionally turn it up to 19 if we’re sitting in an evening. I prefer to put an extra layer on than have a stuffy house.

FeltCarrot · 02/11/2021 19:29

Anything over 19 is too warm for me. I’m still opening the window at night. DH just suffers. 😀

BlowDryRat · 02/11/2021 19:31

Our thermostat is set to 20.5 during the day and 17.5 at night. It used to be 21 and 18 but I turned it down by half a degree to feel good about fighting climate change Blush

Purplecatshopaholic · 02/11/2021 19:31

I keep my house at 22 (24 if it’s cold) - can’t stand the cold

MenopauseSucks · 02/11/2021 19:31

Here the thermostat is set at 20c. Anything below this is too cold! And I wrap up warmly...

RedRiverShore · 02/11/2021 19:33

Heating thermostat in hall is 19.5, front room is 23, I'm feeling a bit warm so will turn down a bit, ideal for me is about 21

MrsColon · 02/11/2021 19:35

@LaikO

17-18c would be perfect for me, but we heat it to 19-21c for the kids. I really dislike the heat though so would prefer the house to be on the chillier side.
Ditto! DH jokes that I'd live in a fridge if it wasn't for him and DS.

I think everyone's different with regards to a comfortable temperature. DPIL have their thermostat set to 23°C day and night, I generally pack summer clothes for staying indoors in the winter, and at night I open the window and make DH sleep in a jumper and thermals.

RedRiverShore · 02/11/2021 19:38

I have thermometers in each room as heating thermostat in hall has no bearing on what temperature each room is

MintyGreenDream · 02/11/2021 19:38

It's around 23 in here atm,lovely

labazslovesliving · 02/11/2021 19:39

if you want cold come and live in our house! no double glazing more holes and draughts than you can count we never put heating on just pile on the layers mind we have the gas fire on lowest at the moment I have one socks leggings and a big fluffy jumper but I work all day in a market so quite hardy and OH is sat here in just joggers and no top as he is warm we are odd!

MintyGreenDream · 02/11/2021 19:39

@zippidydooday you might need your radiators bleeding

Marmite27 · 02/11/2021 19:39

We have ours set at 18 in the coldest room (hall) so it’s probably a degree or so warmer in other rooms downstairs and a degree more upstairs.

cardibach · 02/11/2021 19:41

My thermostat is set to 18, but that’s because I wear my oodie whoever I’m sitting down. I add a fleece blanket if I get cold.

Obecalp · 02/11/2021 19:41

No heating preferable.

MrsSkylerWhite · 02/11/2021 19:41

Most we ever have in winter is 18.

I have raynauds, used to hate it but after decades with a hot blooded family I’m used to it now. We have a big selection of throws and I honestly don’t feel cold anymore.

Going out for a walk in a cold, windy day, different matter altogether. Hands are purple in 5 minutes, so 18 when I get home feels luxurious.

SummerInSun · 02/11/2021 19:41

If it was 17 degrees outside, I would wear a jumper and a light coat to go out. So why would it be comfortable to sit still inside with no coat on at that temp?

Watchingyou2sleezes · 02/11/2021 19:42

17° is an icebox...😒
Each to their own but give me strength.
I'm in one of my rooms now, it's 17°C and I'm in a t shirt

MissConductUS · 02/11/2021 19:42

20 during the day, 18 overnight.

maddiemookins16mum · 02/11/2021 19:42

I don’t tolerate anything under 18.5.

Angel2702 · 02/11/2021 19:44

My house has been 18 today and feels freezing. 20 is my ideal temperature. I find 18 with heating on feels much nicer than 18 feels without heating.

Lookwhoseinsideagain · 02/11/2021 19:46

It's 11.5 here, I've got wet hair and I'm fine wearing pjs and a light dressing gown. I might go put some socks on, or I might stick my feet under the cat for a minute Blush

Admittedly I grew up on a farm, playing out and riding horses all day in the worst of weathers, so I'm probably a bit hardier than most!

MrsSkylerWhite · 02/11/2021 19:47

Today 19:42 MissConductUS

20 during the day, 18 overnight.“

Couldn’t sleep with that heat at night.
