To be shocked at the price of an Oodie?!

£84 Shock

DD has asked for one for Christmas - she is 11 and still believes in Santa so she has put it on her Santa list as her main present.

I can’t quite bring myself to buy one at that price. I see they sometimes do deals so would wait until there was a deal.

But even still!!

Are they worth the price? Do they wash well?

DD is tall so she is in between kids and adult sizes. I think buying a kids one might be a hit of a waste, judging by the size of the kids in the pics.

The price made my eyes water too! I've been hearing how good they are so thought I'd have a look and was shocked at how much they are.
I'm still tempted to get one though...

Lukeaway · 16/10/2021 18:05

I got a fake one for £19.99 on Amazon recommended on here, is just as good maybe slightly shorter :) but I’d rather lay £19.99 for a slightly shorter one that £84 for a longer one, I’m 5ft 10 and it’s still nearly to my knees so not TOO short

Ibleedibreedibreaatfeed · 16/10/2021 18:06

They wash ok. I don't wash mine as much they stain easily though. But I got mine on offer with the weighted blanket. Could you suggest her saving up her money instead?

Could I have a link? Was thinking of getting another one but always after a cheaper option 😉

I got one for £18 too, snuggly soft hoodie perfect. It’s not the sort thing you Wear outside the home so no “branding” to be parading around. I can’t believe an £80 is more soft and comfy than they one I have.

YourBonesAreWet · 16/10/2021 18:08

I got the fake Oodie from Primark for £14. It’s so, so comfortable and very warm. I’d be interested in trying the official one to see if it is worth the price difference.

Taoneusa · 16/10/2021 18:09

I’d have thought the baggy sleeves would have a tendency to drag into food at the dinner table or if cooking, no?

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 16/10/2021 18:09

Yeah I got my dd one off Amazon that she loves, she has no idea it's not an official oodie and cost about £30!!

Jmaho · 16/10/2021 18:09

It's insane. I was discussing Xmas presents with friends last night and my one friend has got her two children these and is giving them on Xmas eve as part of their "Xmas eve box" whatever that is. I didn't really know what they were so had a look and couldn't get over the price of them

CatFaceCats · 16/10/2021 18:10

There’s always a discount code - generally they are about £55… still expensive though.
My kids did get one each for Xmas last year and they’ve definitely had use over the colder months!

CeeceeBloomingdale · 16/10/2021 18:10

There’s often £30 off vouchers. Sign up to their mailing list then add it to your basket and don’t check out. You will have a code tomorrow. They are great quality, I bought DD one last year and they are much better than the copies and it’s been well used. I did think it was a lot when she asked for it but it has been worth it as she doesn’t put the heating on constantly. I paid £49.

clockover · 16/10/2021 18:10

They are never £84 - always a £25 off deal or code to be found. My 3 have them and they are worth the money imo, that said you couldn't really get similar when I bought theirs so maybe copies are as good?

Lalallama · 16/10/2021 18:12

We got this one for DD last year when she was 11. She loves it and still wears it loads - it fits me as well.

ConsuelaHammock · 16/10/2021 18:12

I’ve just bought a bundle of 6 with some friends. Used topcashback for 11% cashback making them £37.50 ish each. Is that a possibility?

HippeePrincess · 16/10/2021 18:12

Utterly ridiculous!

LittleLottieChaos · 16/10/2021 18:12

No they wash terribly. It’s basically like giving two fingers up to the ocean. I’m sure your daughter would prefer to have babies that don’t have stomachs full of micro plastics.

Glittertwins · 16/10/2021 18:13

Go directly and they have plenty of deals. I paid nowhere near that price earlier this year.

My dd mentioned an Oodie 2 Christmas’ ago. I bought her one - I bought myself one too. We both love them ❤️

I can’t remember how much I paid but wouldn’t have been over £50 each.

YodaiamsaidI · 16/10/2021 18:17

I ordered these last Christmas from amazon for my dds

CrystalMaisie · 16/10/2021 18:17

I saw an Instagrammer recently recommend a cheaper one and her daughter preferred it, I’ll see if I can find a link.

TattySlippers · 16/10/2021 18:17

The sleeves are cuffed

AliceinBorderland · 16/10/2021 18:18

The price doesn't shock me. The fact anyone would want to be seen dead in one let alone alive does Grin

1stTimeMama · 16/10/2021 18:18

I got a real Oodie for my birthday last year, and I love it! I would pay the same again if and when I need a new one.

burnoutbabe · 16/10/2021 18:20

Those licenced products look dodgy as anything,

I can't believe those Harry Potter things are in any way official.
