To be shocked at the price of an Oodie?!

£84 Shock

DD has asked for one for Christmas - she is 11 and still believes in Santa so she has put it on her Santa list as her main present.

I can’t quite bring myself to buy one at that price. I see they sometimes do deals so would wait until there was a deal.

But even still!!

Are they worth the price? Do they wash well?

DD is tall so she is in between kids and adult sizes. I think buying a kids one might be a hit of a waste, judging by the size of the kids in the pics.

Because I’m hopefully at anything IT related, I’m always shocked when my ads change to whatever I’ve been looking at! Bizarrely it’s all Oodie though and none of the cheaper brands I’ve always been looking at!

Cozee home on QVC do very similar but plain for a lot cheaper, I have a real one and a QVC one, same quality, same warmth, both wash well.

Crystalglass · 16/10/2021 19:24

Very annoyed as Kuddly had a deal on 2 for £88 and it’s deleted them from my basket and the deal is no longer available!! How cheeky!

Primark have them….

WhiskyXray · 16/10/2021 19:26

Tbh the plastics in the ocean angle is a pretty horrible one. Is your DD environmentally conscious? If so, I'd consider showing her the link posted by PP, about how washing these is polluting our waterways. She might not care, or she MIGHT change her mind and want to look for a better option. For those prices, you could get something in natural fibres, I'm sure.

Jenasaurus · 16/10/2021 19:28

They do replicas in Primark for between 10 -20 -it wont be the same quality but it will do the job and look similar

fluffythedragonslayer · 16/10/2021 19:28

We bought a family pack back in February - it was a treat as we all wanted one and we'd just cancelled a holiday so used some of the money from that. We all love our Oodies. I'm hoping they will come into their own this winter now we can't afford to put the heating on 😂

Blondiney · 16/10/2021 19:28

How much??? Shock

BigSquareRoom · 16/10/2021 19:31

I bought 4 in a bundle at a really good price last year. Ended up selling them all on eBay for a profit , bought an alternative brand one and gave the dc the extra money. They were happy with this!

Titsywoo · 16/10/2021 19:32

I was also shocked at the price (even £50+ is too much IMO). I looked at the cheaper ones but am worried about ending up with fluff all over my house!

ImitationofBeing · 16/10/2021 19:32

My youngest has a non-oodle. Had it 2 years washes brilliantly. And as a previous poster says now we can't afford heating we will be buying cheaper version.

Roselilly36 · 16/10/2021 19:32

Crazy price, but having said that I would buy the branded version if my child really wanted one for Christmas.

KeyboardWorriers · 16/10/2021 19:39

I got teen DSD one for Christmas. I only got her a fake one as couldn't justify the price. But she lives in it!

Holothane · 16/10/2021 19:41

I brought two last year as presents I paid as a bundle so £55 each we all love ours I’ve got two a purple one and a reindeer one for December. I’m waiting for a D5 who or Stranger things themed one.

Mistymountain · 16/10/2021 19:41

I'd never heard of these, but just looked at the website and it seems to be discounted to £59, for a navy one. Says it's a black Friday sale - any use?

Dinafoxrocks · 16/10/2021 19:46

We have kudd.lys and they’re amazing! Very good quality and so warm and cosy. I got them on a deal/offer… 2 adult sized actual kudd.ly things and 2 weighted blankets for around £150. When they arrived we also had 3 very good quality eye masks with individual and removable padded eye pads in little bags!

Lovelymincepies · 16/10/2021 19:47

I did I’ve of their Black Friday deals and bought my nieces, son, sister and myself for Christmas and they worked out as £35 each. They are really warm and cosy and wash well.

They use them all the time. I’m peri menopausal do it’s too hot for me right now 😂😂

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 16/10/2021 19:48

My sister got me one just as good off amazon for 25 quid. I love it and wear it all winter. Oodies are totally overpriced and I don't like the patterns. Waste of money.

toolazytothinkofausername · 16/10/2021 19:48

YABU. There are shops selling the same, without the brand name, for less. Primark are selling their own version called the Snuddie for a lot less money.

JellyTots2009 · 16/10/2021 19:49

My friend got me one last year from next. Pockets either side and down to my shins. I'm 5"6. It's so warm and completely covers my legs and feet when tucked in. Washed well too.
Got a hood with it

Gonewiththegin · 16/10/2021 19:50

I bought a Friends branded one on promotion at the beginning of the year- discounted by roughly £15. I had it two days and the seam on the hood ripped. I sent it back and was refunded. My friend purchased a Harry Potter one and that also ripped at the seam on the pocket. In my opinion absolutely not worth the money.

Crystalglass · 16/10/2021 19:52

Yes she is environmentally conscious - to a point. Will look at the article.

Think we will go for Kuddlys but wait until another offer is on, which I’m sure will be at some point.

As it’s her main pressie I was keen to buy it this weekend given all the issues with delivery last year. But there is still plenty of time and so many alternatives so I should be ok!
