To be shocked at the price of an Oodie?!

£84 Shock

DD has asked for one for Christmas - she is 11 and still believes in Santa so she has put it on her Santa list as her main present.

I can’t quite bring myself to buy one at that price. I see they sometimes do deals so would wait until there was a deal.

But even still!!

Are they worth the price? Do they wash well?

DD is tall so she is in between kids and adult sizes. I think buying a kids one might be a hit of a waste, judging by the size of the kids in the pics.

Dd16 got a real one for her birthday last month and has worn it every day since!
Fantastic quality and not sweaty.
I wasn't sure about them but it's been a massive hit .

Moonface123 · 16/10/2021 21:56

I got a lovely one, off Amazon, not that make, but also got some as gifts and recipients were more than pleased.

Chimley · 16/10/2021 22:03

I'm in mine now and it is the greatest gift of all time.

nancybotwinbloom · 16/10/2021 22:05

Groupon have them at the moment.

Beenheresincethebook · 16/10/2021 22:09

I’m wearing my friends branded one right now! I love it but it was a present , I wouldn’t pay that much for one myself but that’s because I’m tight 😅 It does wash well and it does feel quality so it feels worth more than £20/30 for example.

Summerfun54321 · 16/10/2021 22:12

£84 for polyester fluff which is basically a massive garment made of micro-plastics. No thanks. So sad people don’t care more about the environment.

MrSnowmansCarrotStickNose · 16/10/2021 22:28

I was shocked too when I saw them. My SIL bought my son an Amazon one for his birthday (before we even new what an Oldie was) and to me they look exactly the same. By "coincidence" this add has appeared on the thread if it's any use

*Oodie not Oldie 🤦

mrsbyers · 16/10/2021 22:43

Worth every penny

I have a couple of knock off ones from a amazo and one from actual oodie that I basically live in from September to April Grin I much prefer the official, it's longer and thicker, but buy it with a discount code not full price

Mooloolabababy · 16/10/2021 23:20

Bought MIL a Kuddly for her birthday in April and it was lovely quality!
I was going to put one on my Christmas list this year but I picked one up for £5 in a charity shop this afternoon!! Not an oodie as no label, but feels thick and good quality. Stuck it straight in the wash and it's hanging up drying ready to try it out when it's dry!

Toddleberry · 17/10/2021 00:32

I’m currently wrapped up in a primark one. Only had it a few weeks and already got my £18 worth. I live in it, my 18 month old quite often climbs in and pokes her head out the top too so she’s like a little kangaroo. Wouldn’t spend £84 on one, but for £18 this one is amazing!

Caplin · 17/10/2021 00:46

We all have one, never paid more than £60. Have to say I love them. My kids wear theirs most days, even in summer.

They are good quality.

Hairbrush123 · 17/10/2021 00:52

My friend bought one from Primark for much less! It appears to be available in larger stores - not so much smaller stores so give that a try

Bargain! What a find @Mooloolabababy 😊

Think I’m going to go for the Kuddly - if they do another deal, which I assume they will soon.

MIL is always cold so might buy her one too!

Sounds like the Primark one is a hit. Will have a look next week when DD and I go in.

I wore mine all day during the lockdown last winter - I could work at my computer with it on, though I took it off for video calls. I probably saved more than £59 on heating costs.

Hesma · 17/10/2021 09:05

I have a kuddly. Really warm and wasjhes ever so well.Bought them for my kids too and got adult size so will last. My friend bought her daughter a fake one from dunelm. It not nearly as warm but worth look if she just wants a big hoodie

CrystalMaisie · 17/10/2021 09:35

The Comfy, from Amazon.

HairBobbles · 17/10/2021 13:00

The environmental issue is a concern. Removing that though the main benefit of an issue over other brands to me is all the cute designs. They just look nicer tbh. But if you want a plain one I would get a fake for sure.

ConsuelaHammock · 17/10/2021 14:31

Whatever brand you decide to get, don’t forget to check topcashback and Quidco for cashback .

If middle class people are willing to pay for pointless expensive shite then obviously companies are going to have the brass neck to sell it at those prices.
LittleLottieChaos · 17/10/2021 15:30

@CuteGirlsWatchMeEatEther I don’t think it’s exclusively middle class people spending their money on ‘expensive shite’…
