To think this kitchen is lovely and not too girlie?

We are thinking about getting our kitchen done and looking for some inspiration. I've found one that I absolutely love, but my husband thinks it's minging and too 'girlie' for a man to live in.

AIBU to think this is gorgeous and not too feminine?

What's girly about white units and an oak top?!

cameocat · 13/10/2021 20:30

It is not to my taste and if it isn't to your husband's then why dismiss his opinion and choose it?

(Being girlie or not is beside the point).

MrsTerryPratchett · 13/10/2021 20:30

Well it's pink. Which I don't like personally.

Could you do it in teal or something as a compromise?

LubaLuca · 13/10/2021 20:31

Does he mean the pink emulsion on the walls? Because that really isn't part of the kitchen, you could do your own any colour you want.

StrongerOrWeaker · 13/10/2021 20:31

Don't blame him!

SylvanasWindrunner · 13/10/2021 20:32

I don't like the pink, not because it's girly, I just don't think it goes and would pick another colour.

Miraloma · 13/10/2021 20:32

As in he's worried his penis will fall off if he goes into it?

MajesticWhine · 13/10/2021 20:32

He means the pink doesn't he? If he doesn't like the pink then you can just choose a different colour between you for the walls.

MrsTerryPratchett · 13/10/2021 20:33

Oh and if he uses 'girlie' as an insult, I'd think twice about him.

FlorenceWintle · 13/10/2021 20:33

Just change the pink for another colour as I presume that’s what he’s on about.

JapanJetplane · 13/10/2021 20:34

I don’t personally like the mismatch between the floor, worktops and cupboards, but more to the point - it doesn’t matter what we think! If your husband doesn’t like it he doesn’t like it. You’ll have to find something you can both agree on.

Cwenthryth · 13/10/2021 20:35

“Girlie”?!? How the fuck can a kitchen be “girlie”?

I mean it has pale pink walls, but surely your husband isn’t so insecure in his manhood that he couldn’t cope with a tiny bit of pink in the house?!? That’d be ridiculous.

I mean I don’t personally like that shade of pink, but that doesn’t seem to be his problem.

Halfpace · 13/10/2021 20:36

@Miraloma

As in he's worried his penis will fall off if he goes into it?
This is a proven fact. Pink walls shrivel manhood.
Idontlike · 13/10/2021 20:36

Is it the pink that you love about the kitchen? Other than that it’s just a white kitchen.

If your husband doesn’t like it, you need to rethink and pick one you both like.

FatBettyintheCoop · 13/10/2021 20:37

DH loves our pink and grey kitchen and he’s a rufty tufty Glaswegian. Grin

To think this kitchen is lovely and not too girlie?
SalsaLove · 13/10/2021 20:38

I like it but perhaps you could go for the middle ground and get a mixed materials kitchen.

MintyGreenDream · 13/10/2021 20:38

We've got pale pink in the living room it's looks lovely.Dh thinks so too.Its only a colour.

omfgimgettingmarried · 13/10/2021 20:39

I dunno about "girly" but I hate it.

Saying that, my kitchen walls are actually pink 😂 I think we used China Clay Pale (or maybe Light) by Little Greene. Both dp (male) and I love it.

Cwenthryth · 13/10/2021 20:39

Ooh that is luffly @FatBettyintheCoop

This is a proven fact. Pink walls shrivel manhood.
Does it work the other way around? We have a blue bedroom, I’m worried I might be growing a penis.

ConstanceGracy · 13/10/2021 20:39

I like it but the colour scheme is more feminine.

CaptSkippy · 13/10/2021 20:40

Your husband needs to grow a pair and stop being so insecure. If the kitchen was full of pink flowers and purple hearts he might have had a point, but kitchen is neither masculine nor femine. It is very modern with a touch of classic design and invites people to use it to its fullest extent. I would love to have a kitchen like this.

SylvanasWindrunner · 13/10/2021 20:40

@FatBettyintheCoop Now that's a better shade of pink!

Pedalpushers · 13/10/2021 20:40

I don't personally like it but a) nothing wrong with something being feminine and b) why is pink in a room girly but blue usually considered neutral?

SalsaLove · 13/10/2021 20:41

Like this?

To think this kitchen is lovely and not too girlie?

Oh and my bedroom is a ballet pink colour and DH still has all the relevant man parts attached.
