To think she ought to have let me have it?

On my way home from town yesterday I popped into a charity shop for a browse and they had a lovely baby changing bag. I wanted to buy it but didn’t have the arm space for any more stuff and the woman who ran the shop said they couldn’t keep it for me, so I came back into town this morning to get it.
The charity shop still has a utterly daft one way system so it’s really cramped and today I had the pram. Ahead of me was a woman whose Mum (I presume) was standing next to the bags with a pram while she looked at other stuff. In front of them was someone in a wheelchair so I stood and waited until they could move so I could pick the bag up.
The woman then walks back over to her Mum, spots the bag and picks it up. I said “Oh, I was going to get that, I’ve come back into town for it.”

Now in her position, what I’d have done was said on, here you go, and handed it over. However she just shrugged and said “oh, sorry.” And took it.

AIBU to think that’s a dick move and she should have let me have it?

Just go out and buy yourself a completely new really good version you’ll feel instantly better. I get tactics like this in London all the time with pushchairs blocking me to where there is an offer on in the supermarket they even take the lot without leaving one or the sly pull it off the rail from the other side of the rail when I am at the front of the rail looking . I was at a carboot and that tactic left me open mouthed I have to say. She approached with a poker face but her arm was pulling the slip off the rail below surface. She did this bare faced cheek literally! Usually if you are at that section of rail it’s you got there first. Another tactic at a vintage fair woman pushes hangers tight against where I was looking . I actually pulled this woman (stretching the word here) up on it and oh was she a nasty piece of work. I would say survival of the fittest but actually as an old lady said to me you’ve got to be cunning these days. Sadly it’s true. Learn from it . Either to not be the one who takes the last after eight or get tactical in a discreet way ConfusedI always make sure to be thoughtful it’s only stuff at the end of the day . I remember a market stall selling Wholefoods stuff . People were fighting like there were food shortages. It got nasty. Those stallholders remember me to this day for being polite, thoughtful , helpful and not behaving like scum. Reputation is everything. I just stepped away from the scrum and stopped the elderly being knocked over. Gucci sale at Harrods women with babies on their shoulders broke the glass doors, knocked over the roping and barged through security yes with new borns loose . I kept thinking on seeing the madness they are not giving it away and is that what Gucci represents perhaps they were shoplifters and the babies were tactical? During Covid the loo roll crisis the posh area was cleaned out the poor area people were giving the elderly priority and letting them have the last packet that taught me a massive life lesson about perceptions of class.

This post is a poem and so perceptive. Thanks for taking this thread to fabulous new heights.

The OP can't afford a second hand charity version, so she's unlikely to be able to buy a really good version!

Ooh, can I be first to mention dark satanic rituals?

I'm not sure the poster in question is really engaging with actual OP. 😆

I'm not sure what they're doing, tbh, but it's certainly full on and fabulous.

How are people still finding things to say on this, surely this dead horse it truly flogged.
And the woman watching MMA battles over a handbag sale, WTAF?

This thread is hilarious

Everyone brings their own baggage to it. Some should learn to keep it zipped.

Before this thread fills up, I just had to bold this section of Darlingx post.

You're right. Taking the last After Eight is so classless.

But I'd fuck you up for the last Rolo.

I’ve learnt the hard way when it comes to stuff in charity, antique and secondhand shops. Hang on to the stuff you want as I can guarantee someone else will nab it.
