To think this is far too much food?

Made a saucepan of bolognese mince and DP gave it to my 2 grandkids aged 8 and 9. Alongside pasta. They ate the lot. Aibu to think this is far too much food for 2 kids and also annoyed as although I hadn't said, it was also meant to be for us. He knew I was late him from work so feel a bit pissed off that I know have to cook something else.

It depends everyone sauce pans are different sizes x

Notimeforaname · 30/09/2021 22:44

Well if he gave a meal for four, to two, then it was too much.

00100001 · 30/09/2021 22:44

Depends on the size of your saucepan.... surely?

If it's a wee egg pan...then no.

If it's afuck off husge 5l pot....then yes.

HouseOfFire · 30/09/2021 22:45

How much mince etc?

HedgehogintheFog · 30/09/2021 22:45

I have no idea. It depends how much there was. 🤣

CombatBarbie · 30/09/2021 22:45

How big was the pack of mince?

Notimeforaname · 30/09/2021 22:45

Ah sorry I see it was for two adults. But yes I'd want to know what size pan and how much meat used.

Clymene · 30/09/2021 22:45

Was it 100g of mince? 500? A saucepan could be any amount

Concestor · 30/09/2021 22:45

They ate it all so presumably it was the right amount for two.

BeneficiaryMadness · 30/09/2021 22:46

250/500/750/1kg of meat? 🤷‍♀️

Sunshinesandice · 30/09/2021 22:46

How much was your saucepan? They were obviously hungry. Don’t think he was being unreasonable tbh if they ate the lot

LemonSherbetFancies · 30/09/2021 22:46

Sorry just a standard pack of meat and was meant to be for all 4 of us not just the kids.

Wazzzzzzzup · 30/09/2021 22:47

DP drunk a glass of water. Is it too much or not? 😂

Tbh if two small kids eat it, it probably wasn't 4 portions anyway

DeepaBeesKit · 30/09/2021 22:47

Depends how much it was.

8 & 9 year olds can eat quite a bit. My nephew is 8.5 and bone thin and eats the same as me and I have a good appetite.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 30/09/2021 22:47

If it was meant for four and fed two... probably

But it depends what went in it.

LemonSherbetFancies · 30/09/2021 22:48

Was just beef mince, chopped tomatoes and some red onion

DeepaBeesKit · 30/09/2021 22:48

There's no such thing as a standard pack! Do you mean 1lb/500g?

It's quite a big portion. I'm willing to bet your DP ate some with them.

myadhdusername · 30/09/2021 22:48

If they ate it all then wasn’t too much.

Most grandmothers would give their grandkids their last baked bean! Not sure what your situation is but getting worked up enough to post on here because your grandkids ate your bolognese is … odd.

AlCalavicci · 30/09/2021 22:48

I have sauce pans ranging from 1 pint up to almost 5 pints
So it depends , but I guess if you think it was enough for two adults and two children and he gave it all to two children then yes it probably was to much

Minfilia · 30/09/2021 22:49

500g mince?

Not to be a competitive mumsnet undereater but bulked out with a shedload of veg, we can get 6 portions. So if that was given to two young kids then yes that’s far too much!

cardibach · 30/09/2021 22:49

@LemonSherbetFancies

Sorry just a standard pack of meat and was meant to be for all 4 of us not just the kids.
What’s a standard pack? We need to know how much meat and what else went in or how can we possibly tell whether it was really too much or not?
LemonSherbetFancies · 30/09/2021 22:49

500G pack

myadhdusername · 30/09/2021 22:51

500g is loads to be fair! By the time I’ve added tomatoes etc that feeds four of us (two being kids) with leftovers. The kids must have been starving had you not fed them all day?!

Squirrelblanket · 30/09/2021 22:51

What is a 'standard' pack of mince though?!

Most supermarkets or butchers sell it by weight. Without this important detail this is a really stupid question OP.

actingsergeant · 30/09/2021 22:51

If they ate it, it wasn’t too much! Kids are pretty good at self regulating. If they didn’t finish it and it was wasted I’d be annoyed
