Project Fear you said. Sunlit Uplands you said. Sovereignty you said. Can I buy food and heat my house with Sovereignty? Can I put sovereignty in my car's fuel tank? Can I?

It was common sense that this would happen. Common SENSE.

We are a bit of a laughing stock now as a country aren't we? Where are these amazing trade deals then that were promised? Or the money for our NHS (currently on it's knees)?

IvorHughJarrs · 24/09/2021 22:21

Jesus wept! Is this never going to end? We have had years since that vote and a worldwide pandemic. It is time to move on, stop whingeing and just get on with things regardless of how we voted at the time

BlackeyedSusan · 24/09/2021 22:22

to be fair, it has been made worse by covid. and tthis government

and there is no fucking point saying "I told you so" as people who want brexit are likely to blame all brexit caused stuff on covid. people who did not want brexit are going to blame brexit more even if it is covid or something else.

It would be great if there was a way to find out what exactly was to blame and in what proportions...

jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey · 24/09/2021 22:24

There’s no statute of limitations when discussing fucking stupid decisions that have everything to do with the current shitshow
EatSleepRantRepeat · 24/09/2021 22:25

If people had spent the last 5 years doing proper planning instead of batching and trying to overturn the result, recruiting and training British people in shortage jobs, and paying people decent wages in the first place we wouldn't be in such a mess. I'm not willing to live in a country which runs on exploiting poor Eastern Europeans and migrants because we won't pay the going rate for goods and services.

How do I attach a picture of BoJo?

I mean, he handled both Brexit AND the pandemic. Did such a great job. I’m sure we’ll all vote for him again 🙄

Or we can realistically say that it’s a combination of covid and brexit.

Hahaha, Brexit voters always want people to 'move on'.

If you voted for Brexit, you are living in the country you created. Tyvm.

drivinmecrazy · 24/09/2021 22:27

None of this chaos here in other parts of Europe and we too had the pandemic.
Laughing stock and careful what you wish for spring to mind.

This is bollocks. The people who have been in charge of planning are the same ones who advocated brexit. Unless you think that Boris has been trying to overturn his own result? You can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear.

DroopyClematis · 24/09/2021 22:27

As a democracy, we all voted for this.
The electorate is to blame.
That is democracy.

All hail BoJo!

Well there is to some extent. NI we are not having this issue. We are being somewhat spared by the protocol. I got diesel earlier, 20quids worth and it was all business as normal. Drove straight up, 20 quid in and drove out. The protocol has arisen because of Brexit. We are also not being hit by the CO2 shortage.

Well untill Labour get their act together and stop blaming the electorate for not voting for the than, yes they probably will get in again.
EatSleepRantRepeat · 24/09/2021 22:29

Look at the survey that was in the Times today about why people have left HGV driving as a job. The majority are retiring, and younger people won't tolerate being treated badly by the companies they work for and having to shit in laybys because we refuse to give them decent working conditions and facilities. If you can convert your wages to a decent living in your home country you'll tolerate it for a while but why would anyone want to do it as a career when they have other options?

DismantledKing · 24/09/2021 22:30

It’s just a pity that the rest of us have to pay for their stupid decisions.

bizboz · 24/09/2021 22:31

Yanbu but watch people pile on here and say it is nothing to do with Brexit. Covid might have exacerbated the situation but it also gives the Brexit supporters a handy scapegoat.

Other parts or Europe have had their own issues, massive floods, causing loss of life etc only a few weeks agao.
Smashingspinster · 24/09/2021 22:32

I am overseas at the moment. They report on the situation in the UK on the news every night in tones of disbelief. I dont want to come home.

RandomLondoner · 24/09/2021 22:32

I'm not willing to live in a country which runs on exploiting poor Eastern Europeans and migrants because we won't pay the going rate for goods and services.

I agree with this. Apparently there are more qualified drivers not working than there are working, so the problem is nothing to do with Brexit, or even Covid. It's simply that we don't make it worth their while for drivers to work.

Beapot · 24/09/2021 22:33

Were none of the many, many existing threads on this very subject good enough?

DismantledKing · 24/09/2021 22:33

Other parts or Europe have had their own issues, massive floods, causing loss of life etc only a few weeks agao.

Eh? That’s not due to decisions that they’ve made in an election. A lack of drivers, supply problems etc are not natural disasters.

To those saying move on. 40 years I reckon. That seems fair when people moaned about bring in the EU for 40 years plus. You set a precedent.
