Project Fear you said. Sunlit Uplands you said. Sovereignty you said. Can I buy food and heat my house with Sovereignty? Can I put sovereignty in my car's fuel tank? Can I?

It was common sense that this would happen. Common SENSE.

The Remain campaign was pretty shameful too. As was David Cameron.
I’d rather have stayed in a reformed EU, where people had to have a job here before they could move here and not claim benefits for families in other countries.
Sadly, leaving altogether is leaving us where we are now. This is the start of it.

Dave20 · 24/09/2021 23:10

**
How THE FUCK can you vote for something you don’t understand and can’t join the fucking dots. Once my kids are done with education here we are gone. Little Britain, you’re welcome to your post war Britain.

And where do you plan to go then?

antoniawhite · 24/09/2021 23:12

There was the EU law that EU immigrants could not claim benefits for three months on arrival, and had to have sufficient funds or a job for three months. Most EU countries make you register and check this out. The UK never bothered. There was a lot of power we had and didn’t use.

Dreamstate · 24/09/2021 23:12

Oh here we go blame brexit time.

This is because of covid, the billions borrowed for the pandemic, the complete halt of manufacturers making stuff due to covid when they were effectively shut down across the world!

Then you have that fire in france that added to the electricity issue...absolutely nothing to do with brexit

The fuel problem was only with BP but thank to the media causing a panic you now have shortages elsewhere.

Literally none of that has to do with brexit.

antoniawhite · 24/09/2021 23:14

I really don’t like Corbyn at all, but it’s pretty mindblowing to me that anyone could think that voting for a man who’d already been sacked twice for lying, and had a pretty murky history of offensive, racist remarks, and who’d already said ‘Fuck business’ was better than voting for Corbyn.

Kleptaklunky · 24/09/2021 23:16

We need to be patient. These issues aren't purely down to brexit.

MrsIsobelCrawley · 24/09/2021 23:18

Brexit has turned into bollox. Gosh, who ever expected that.

EatSleepRantRepeat · 24/09/2021 23:18

Well yes, it really would have helped if it wasn't a choice between a racist and an anti-semite. Plus I'm completely politically homeless at the moment because the parties I'd usually vote for can't decide between them what a woman is.

Chloemol · 24/09/2021 23:18

Oh go away, do your proper research, it’s not all Brexit

But then again why bother, those Brexit hating muppets on here believe everything is down to Brexit, and nothing is going to change their mind

BigGreen · 24/09/2021 23:19

Are we seriously asking Bolsonaro, (one of the most morally bankrupt leaders in the world) for turkeys for Christmas because of Brexit? This would have been a surreal joke pre referendum. What a time to be British.

VelvetChairGirl · 24/09/2021 23:19

"Yes but you hate people who dont vote the same way as you though dont you?
And i dont know who in their right mind could have voted for corbyn
Labour need to stop being utterly vile to people who dont vote the way they think they should and find out what the voters want"

thats because you swallowed the right wing press's relentless smear campaign, well done for doing as you were told and not voting for a threat to the establishment.

he was right about iraq, he showed you the evidence the tories were selling off the NHS, you poo pooed and ignored him just as you ignored warnings about brexit and scoffed at experts.

shame on you.

Bunnyfuller · 24/09/2021 23:20

@Dave20

Well, hopefully some EU countries will still allow UK citizens to buy property and settle. Brexit is doing everything it promised - wrecking the country, and Covid has just delayed it.

We could have simply said no NHS or benefits to anyone not British, much as foreign countries do to us. But no, David Cameron gamble on the xenophobia and gullibility of the country, and they didn’t let him down.

What gets me is the wilful and adamant ignorance and refusal to own the consequences of your decisions. My mum and Dad and brother all voted Leave, now they’re shitting themselves how they’ll get thru this winter.

Right back at you🙄

So how would that work if a non british dying child was admitted to A&E? We just "simply say no NHS"?

LukeEvansWife · 24/09/2021 23:23

You know there is a Brexit topic? For those who aren't sick of it.

I voted remain but constant whining is just embarrassing.

Bunnyfuller · 24/09/2021 23:23

We should vote for policies not personalities. So many fell for bumbling Boris because he talks in throwaway sound bites.

How many rich Etonians do you know care about you and your family’s circumstances?

None then.

it wasnt, because only one of the 2 was those things.

show me what anti Semitic thing corbyn did or said? it was starmer who purged the labour party of anti Israeli jews.

EatSleepRantRepeat · 24/09/2021 23:24

Interesting how the OP hasn't come back isn't it? Another Brexit plop post by someone who hasn't the courtesy to join the discussion.

DismantledKing · 24/09/2021 23:25

I’m a member of the Labour Party, but you’re wrong here. Corbyn was an antisemite, and he ignored the antisemitism of those around him. We’re far better off without him.
There’s plenty of evidence for that.

Iggly · 24/09/2021 23:26

Brexit makes it harder for us to deal with shortages etc.

Why are people so stubborn about admitting that?

The other compounding issue if that the Tories have not done anything to directly strengthen the infrastructure of the country before Brexit and covid. For example the fragility of our energy supply has been long known. It’s a years old issue. Yet they tinker around with bullshit like HS2. They have no vision, no clue. Penny fucking wise and pound foolish.

I never understand why people come on Brexit threads to complain that people are talking about Brexit.
I’m not trying to be goady; I don’t get it. I’m not a huge fan of TV so scroll past the TV threads. Why not just give the Brexit ones a rest, if you don’t like it?

DismantledKing · 24/09/2021 23:27

There’s this for starters.

**We could have simply said no NHS or benefits to anyone not British, much as foreign countries do to us.

Exactly this. We couldn’t have stayed in the EU and made these changes.
Instead, many people listened to a tweed jacket wearing , cigar smoking ,multi millionaire ,ex city broker , who went to a public school. Farage made a vey good living for 25 years being an anti European.
All these rich people can just jet off into the sunset and leave the rest of us to it...

QuentinBunbury · 24/09/2021 23:28

It was never going to work, that’s why they twatted about so long, because it was a stupid fucking idea in the first place, dreamt up by egotistical idiots who are funny to look at so people thought they were just harmless blokes. Voted for by people who didn’t listen to experts who actually know what they’re on about and instead believed whatever it was that the sun told them. And now we’re all living with the fallout of politician’s egos and some people’s naivety and stubbornness.
This is a brilliant post.
I'm so fucked off I can barely watch the news.
All concerns dismissed as "project fear", now appear to be true.
The govt trying desperately to blame covid when clearly that's not the whole story - it's brexit
And we can't mention it because "brexit is done"

I try very hard to think I'm in a democracy where the majority voted for something I didn't want, but I can't help thinking the UK is funked. It makes me want to cry.
