Anyone got any Adult DC with no tattoos

flexandimpress · 02/09/2021 16:38

Has anyone got any young adult children who don't have tattoos and don't like them. My DS who is 21 said that he's never getting a tattoo as he doesn't like them. It made wonder how common are tattoos nowadays?

@bungaloid

None of my children are sailors or criminals, so on that basis they don't require tattoos.
Surely this must be sarcasm ...

surely ..:

SleepingStandingUp · 02/09/2021 17:45

My mother. Although I'm 39 so not young...

TallulahBetty · 02/09/2021 17:45

I am late 30s and literally the only one out of my friends/colleagues/DH's friends who doesnt have one.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 02/09/2021 17:46

4 out of 5 without them although 1 of those is considering the possibility

Intercity225 · 02/09/2021 17:47

None of my three DC have any.

I always wonder what they would look like if the person say gains weight; or gets old? Surely, they go out of shape, if the skin gets wrinkly?

ForkedIt · 02/09/2021 17:47

Husband and I are late 20’s (so I think the demographic you are after?) and neither of us have tattoos. Thinking about it, none of our close friends do either - to my knowledge.

My mum (in her 50s) has a tattoo though Grin

MaMelon · 02/09/2021 17:48

Neither of my adult DC have them (thank god - I don’t like them at all) although DS1 has a heart condition and has been strongly advised not to have one, which makes it easier for him to avoid them. Very few of their friends have them actually, I don’t know why.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 02/09/2021 17:49

I understand that tattoo ink is 'unregulated' (unlike food colouring!) and some colours can have heavy metals in, e.g. yellow MAY contain cadmium.Shock

I wonder how many 'anti-vaxers' have tattoos? Hmm

lyntheyresexpeople · 02/09/2021 17:50

@spanieleyes

Neither of my sons ( 29 and 27) have tattoos, mind you they don't smoke, one doesn't drink and the other only rarely, don't do drugs and don't sleep around. I think we have a boring family!
I'm covered in tattoos and have only slept with 2 people - I also don't drink or do drugs, I have no idea how you think any of them are correlated. Do you think people with tattoos are more likely to be sti riddled drug addicts? I would absolutely love it if one of your sons got wasted in magaluf and got some birds name tattood on his chin.
Random789 · 02/09/2021 17:50

Tattoos were quite cool when most people didn't have them and so they expressed a bit of individuality. These days, they are just one more little hit for shopping addicts.

You might just as well get a barcode tattooed on your arm, because all that tattoos say about you is that you are optimised for consumer capitalism.

wanttomarryamillionaire · 02/09/2021 17:50

Only two out of four have a couple each. I ( in my 40s) am covered in them!

Cornishmaiden · 02/09/2021 17:50

Son who is 29 and armed forces does not have any. Daughter who is 25 and a teacher has 3 but not visible when dressed.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 02/09/2021 17:50

My daughter is 20 and my nephew 21. No tattoos. I think they are quickly going to become very "yesterday" and ageing. The only people I actually know with tattoos are my brother (39) and sister (41).

Springstar · 02/09/2021 17:51

@Ionlydomassiveones

My children are all grown up and wouldn’t have them. Neither have me or my DH.
I like to think they have discreet tattoos that you don't know about 😅 My offspring all have them. Not ones you can miss either 🙈

Hahahaha.

Fabellini · 02/09/2021 17:55

Two ds, 24 and 21 - neither of them have any tattoos, or piercings. I wouldn’t really mind much if they did, but neither have ever expressed even a vague interest.

ImHauntingThisPlace · 02/09/2021 17:56

My mum has 4 out of 4 with no tattoos aging between 31 to 38.

Although I did freak her out when I was 14 and had my belly button piercedGrin

Go on, explain this to us all a bit more.
Lilyx18 · 02/09/2021 17:58

I'm one of 4 adult DC. 3 out of 4 of us don't have any tattoos! The 1 who does was drunk on holiday and regrets it 😂

seaandsandcastles · 02/09/2021 18:00

It does unfortunately seem to be coming more common. Awful, permanent things that they will one day regret no matter how stubborn they are that they won’t 😂

IveGotASongThatllGetOnYNerves · 02/09/2021 18:01

Mine don't.

SweetPetrichor · 02/09/2021 18:04

My DPs sisters - all 4 of them - don’t have tattoos. We both do. Honestly, I’d say it’s a 50/50 split in people of my age (30s) that I know.

This is the sort of smug bollocks that my Mum used to say to my Dad, he’s almost 70 now and still having more done.

I regret a few things in my life and none of them are tattoos. I have bigger things to wrangle with than that.

icedcoffees · 02/09/2021 18:05

Part of me hopes the children of all the people saying "MY children would never get tattoos because I've raised them properly" secretly have at least one hidden tattoo Grin
