Anyone got any Adult DC with no tattoos

flexandimpress · 02/09/2021 16:38

Has anyone got any young adult children who don't have tattoos and don't like them. My DS who is 21 said that he's never getting a tattoo as he doesn't like them. It made wonder how common are tattoos nowadays?

Neither of mine have tattoos.

Mommabear20 · 02/09/2021 18:06

Me and DH are the only ones in either of our families to have them, so 2 of us out of about 15 (siblings, partners and cousins)

AdoraBell · 02/09/2021 18:07

DDs and stepson, none of them have tattoos. One might get some, but not sure if she will.

@icedcoffees

Part of me hopes the children of all the people saying "MY children would never get tattoos because I've raised them properly" secretly have at least one hidden tattoo Grin
Oh don't scare them like that!!

These are the sort of people who believe their children are SO much better because they don't have any; they can't cope with the thought that they secretly may be common as muck Wink

icedcoffees · 02/09/2021 18:10

@LookAtMoiPloise ah but come on, it would be so amusing to watch them self-combust!

SweetPetrichor · 02/09/2021 18:10

I love how some people act as if tattoos are some terrible, modern thing which show poor moral character. People have been modifying their body for as long as there’s been people. Wink

I have five dc aged 34 to 18 and none of them have any tattoos or piercings. They are pretty squeamish anyway so wouldn't voluntarily have something done to them that might hurt or draw blood and suspect my indoctrination against cigarettes and tattoos when they were pre teens probably worked as none of them smoke either.

pippapoo62 · 02/09/2021 18:13

Both daughters have tattoos, son does not and he is 25 , But then he doesn't smoke ,drink or do drugs .

What's the correlation?

Defo v common in 20s,30s and 40s. Now becoming passe.

dementedma · 02/09/2021 18:16

2 out of 3 of mine dont have them.
I got my first one last month at the age of 57. Kids are horrified

Zealois · 02/09/2021 18:17

I'm 29 and the only one of my friend group without any tattoos. Most have multiple and plans for more.

I actually quite like the idea of getting one but I get bored of things too easily, so haven't committed.

MsSquiz · 02/09/2021 18:18

Not my adult children, but FIL has 3 adult children (42, 39 & 35) and none of them have any tattoos or piercings.
FIL also has 2 DILs & 1 SIL and all 3 of us have multiple tattoos and piercings!

glitterelf · 02/09/2021 18:18

Both of my adults sons are tattoo free who knows if it'll remain that way.

LST · 02/09/2021 18:21

I love tattoos. Most of the people I know in a social and work capacity have them. My DC love the ones I have. They are only 9 & 7 though, so it won't be yet.

Iheartmysmart · 02/09/2021 18:22

DS is 19 and doesn’t have any and doesn’t want any. My nephew is late 20’s and is heavily tattooed from the neck down.

For those saying their children don’t have any, I had my first aged 50 and have added several more since then. Have also had my nose pierced and added many ear piercings so there’s still time! My mum only really dislikes the nose stud.

LST · 02/09/2021 18:23

@bungaloid

None of my children are sailors or criminals, so on that basis they don't require tattoos.
Does it hurt?
GrandTheftWalrus · 02/09/2021 18:25

Not my child obviously but dh is 39 and he has no tattoos.

Musicaltheatremum · 02/09/2021 18:25

Neither of mine have (26&28) daughter was an actress so was frowned upon and son hasn't bothered. Too keen on keeping fit!

Chloemol · 02/09/2021 18:26

None of my immediate family have them, nor the adult children of my friends

My personal opinion is they are awful

Grapewrath · 02/09/2021 18:26

Lol at tattoos looking dated
I’m in my 40s and have 5. I still love them all although hsve had one recoloured
Teen dd has two. Ds isn’t keen

Can you not have tattoos and also keep fit then? 😂
Johnbowlby · 02/09/2021 18:28

Tattoos stopped being cool when middle aged people started getting them. My two young adult children have no interest in them for this reason

1forAll74 · 02/09/2021 18:28

I was chatting to a man in a pub a few years ago He had about 7 or 8 tattoos on one arm, they were all women's names, all tattooed in a row,. He said they were all women that he had slept with in the last year. and he hoped to fill the other arm up next with more women's names.

Grapewrath · 02/09/2021 18:29

Oh and my Mum hates tattoos, thinks they’re common and people will regret them etc. Rammed that into me my whole life. As soon as I could I got a beautiful tattoo! It’s neither common and I don’t regret it one bit
