Anyone got any Adult DC with no tattoos

flexandimpress · 02/09/2021 16:38

Has anyone got any young adult children who don't have tattoos and don't like them. My DS who is 21 said that he's never getting a tattoo as he doesn't like them. It made wonder how common are tattoos nowadays?

If my adult DSC have them, they're in discrete places. I've never asked if they have any!

vivainsomnia · 03/09/2021 11:50

Neither mine do and like them. DD's boyfriend got one. Her attitude was tht it was his body to do what he wanted, but it hasn't made her want one for herself.

I would be disappointed if they did. I think they all look absolutely horrible, but in the end, their body, not mine. I'm pleased for now.

Four out of four don't have them...to my knowledge. I've a teeny tiny suspicion one of my girls might have a secret one but I'm genuinely not sure. We are very close and she normally is very open with me. I'm not judgemental and we don't have the type of relationship where she would think I would 'disapprove' however I can still
See that she might like to keep a little tattoo secret. So I haven't and won't ask. It's my little secret that I suspect it .

I am not anti tattoos. I just can think of anything that I want. Once I supported a young adult who wanted a tattoo. I didnt wantvto talk her out if having one because that's not my role but I wanted her to choose wisely. She wanted the name of someone moderately famous in a rock band. It isnt always a good idea to have the na.es if celebrities as no one knows what the future holds and she will be stuck with that name on her. Fortunately she listened and chose something like a moon and stars which she was made up with. A few years later the celebrity was charged with a horrific crime and still in prison. He is a POS.
Oh God it was Ian Watkins wasn't it. Thank FUCK she didn't! Christ.

I don't have adult DC. I'm 31 and have 11 tattoos. Including finger tattoos. Love them all and I don't care what anyone thinks of them.

Out of interest - how much would a sleeve cost on a man’s arm, incorporating covering up old ones please?

Is a sleeve the whole arm or elbow to wrist?
DH has an upper arm tattoo wraps round it .
Done in two sessions and cost about £360 on naked skin , not a cover up .

He had to wait for the tattoo artist who did that particular design and wait 3+ months for an appointment .

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 03/09/2021 18:28

My shoulder to elbow cost £360 it isn't on the inside of my arm though

Kite22 · 03/09/2021 18:41

I honestly don't know anyone between the ages of 20-35 who doesn't have a tattoo

which only shows that people (virtually all of us) mix with other people like themselves.

She was absolutely adamant that was she wanted.

Out of everyone I know, only 2 don’t have a tattoo/ tattoos. It is so common nowadays.

Buttercup54321 · 03/09/2021 22:27

Two out of four with mine.

Proudboomer · 03/09/2021 22:56

@floss1

I’m one of four and we’re in our 40’s - no tattoos or any thoughts of having one!

My sons sleeve totalled £1200 It is a full sleeve from his shoulder to about an inch above his wrist. It took a lot of time to do. First he spent a couple of hours with the artist going over what he wanted. Arm measurements were taken and then he went back a couple of weeks later once the artist had completed the art work for the first sitting of around 6 hours to do from shoulder to elbow. Allowed to heal and then a second sitting which was slightly shorter. Left to heal and then another hour sitting for any little touch ups and for the artist to take photos for his portfolio.

DS has none that I can see, and I don't think any of his friends do either (late teens/early 20s). Doesn't seem to have been a thing so far in his friendship group. I don't like tattoos very much though, and my dc all know that, so they probably wouldn't tell me if they did have a discreet one somewhere. I am in my 50s, and only a few friends my age have one. I think piercings were more the thing to have when I was in my 20s.

sicklycolleague · 04/09/2021 02:20

Am 27 and boyf is 28, neither of us have tattoos. I have joked about getting one and think some can look nice but nothing I’d want permanently. I like henna or transfer tattoos though! Boyf similar but also hugely dislikes tattoos on women. My sister is 21 and tattoo-free.

LimeRedBanana · 04/09/2021 02:58

@znaika

Am amazed that people don't think tattoos are a fashion and can date, nineties celtic crosses, tribal symbols and chinese characters- noone would get those now but were edgy at the time, what about stars and butterflies from 2000s? tattoo art and fashion has evolved but it's definitely on its way out, it will no doubt be back in 2-3 decades
OMG - absolutely!

Tattoos are as susceptible to fashion as anything.

Barbed wire rings around upper arms. The placement of them on the lower back, above the waist band (‘arse antlers’, anyone?!), roses on cleavage, Māori designs on people are definitely are not Māori (Robbie Williams!), even the whole ‘sleeve’ concept is a current (maybe waning?) fashion.

All of those look dated now.

YesIReallyDoLikeRootBeer · 04/09/2021 03:34

None of my boys do (33, 29 and 18) but I have two tattoos.

Hmm
gamerchick · 04/09/2021 07:19

Husband detests tattoos, hates them even more on me. As I've said to him, it's my body.

It just doesn't matter what other people think and I'm well amused at some of these posts who are adamant their kids and their friends (htf do you know?) Definitely don't have tattoos.

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 04/09/2021 11:06

I have five adult children. Only the youngest has a tattoo - on her ankle - designed by her best friend in school.

My husband who was 60 at the beginning of the summer has an appointment to discuss the artwork for his first tattoo on Tuesday.

MyDogIsCool · 04/09/2021 11:17

I have 9 which can all be hidden for work, except one, my sister has a few but none of my brothers have any, If I could go back I wouldn't have any!
