Anyone got any Adult DC with no tattoos

flexandimpress · 02/09/2021 16:38

Has anyone got any young adult children who don't have tattoos and don't like them. My DS who is 21 said that he's never getting a tattoo as he doesn't like them. It made wonder how common are tattoos nowadays?

I’m 29 and literally everyone I know my age has at least one.

LadyPenelope68 · 02/09/2021 17:18

My eldest is 22 and doesn’t have any, he’s more sense. He doesn’t drink or smoke either, none of his close friends have them either.

Youngest son is nearly 19, he’s had about 6 in the last few months, they’re awful and he looks awful with them. Most of his friends have loads.

luckylavender · 02/09/2021 17:19

Yes, DC is 25

@KimWexlersPonyTail

I do think tatts are starting to look a little dated now, maybe because they are more accepted and older people have them. Just lost that shock value, so i guess that's a turn off the youngsters. I agree with PP is more of a British thing.
This was was always going to happen, it was only a matter of time.
Deadringer · 02/09/2021 17:21

1 of my 3 adult dc has several, the other 2 have no interest.

notacooldad · 02/09/2021 17:21

To some of the parents on here saying their kids don't have any. I am 35, I have seven tattoos and my parents have never seen any of them!
Ds2 would pass out at a needle coming at him.
Ds1 has always been dead honest even if it has been telling me things that I dont want to hear or owned up to stuff he could have got away with. I've no reason to doubt him. Theyve got no reson to hide things. They know I'm not a fan but it's not like I'm going to beat them to an inch of their lives or anything.🤷‍♀️

CrasterKipper · 02/09/2021 17:22

I'm one of 5 siblings in our 30s and none of us have any. Same for DHs family. Actually very few of my friends have them either, I can only think of a handful of acquaintances who have them. Or at least that I know about!

I hope my DC don't get them when they're older as I'm not a fan but it's really up to them!

LongTimeMammaBear · 02/09/2021 17:22

Mine do not

stillcrazyafterall · 02/09/2021 17:22

No one in my family has tattoos - both sons (20s/30s) think they are awful. As do me and DH. But each to their own

idontknowwhyiamasking · 02/09/2021 17:23

@spanieleyes

Neither of my sons ( 29 and 27) have tattoos, mind you they don't smoke, one doesn't drink and the other only rarely, don't do drugs and don't sleep around. I think we have a boring family!
Isn’t it kind of sad that you (or anyone) would consider person describe on that list as boring.

I think those are really good qualities.
I would be proud to have children like that!

mibbelucieachwell · 02/09/2021 17:23

My 22 and 24YO's don't have any. No siblings.

ThanksIGotItInMorrisons · 02/09/2021 17:24

mine don’t, too much sense

didn’t take long mn. If you chose to make personal choices about how you decorate your own body you have no sense. 🙄

Proudboomer · 02/09/2021 17:24

Two adult sons
Eldest has none
Younger has a full sleeve.

AuntieMarys · 02/09/2021 17:24

Neither of my adult dcs have one...they're 22 and 25. We don't either.

PumpkinPatch21 · 02/09/2021 17:25

I'm in my 30s as is my brother, neither have tattoos.
After years of watching friends get cartoon tattoos and tattooing their entire body and regretting it - it's put me off for life.

Numbersarefun · 02/09/2021 17:25

As far as I know, my 3 don’t. (All in their 20s)

Mrsmadevans · 02/09/2021 17:25

Neither of my 2 Dds have nor my Nephew & his partner.

weegiemum · 02/09/2021 17:27

My dd1 has one on her arm to cover up her self harm scars. She's 21.

Ds 19 would like one but I think he's not quite ready to commit. He has both ears and his nose pierced though.

Dd2 17 has a long list of tattoos she wants as soon as she turns 18 later this year. I expect that will last until she figures out the cost. She already has multiple nose and ear piercings, some of which she did herself!

Toddlerteaplease · 02/09/2021 17:27

I'm 39 and hate them!

1DoesNotSimplyWalkIntoMordor · 02/09/2021 17:28

Neither of mine have tattoos or want them.

NanaPorsche · 02/09/2021 17:28

Three children 25 yrs and over. No tattoos. Their partners don't have them either.

My husband has a few though.

My dad had his done during his time in the Royal Navy (national service).

ajandjjmum · 02/09/2021 17:29

Neither DS (29) nor DD (28) have them. They do joke that they're the only people in their generation to have none!

DD hates the look of them, and DS doesn't like needles. Grin

woodfort · 02/09/2021 17:29

@Hemingwaycat

I think most people under 40 have at least one but it may just be the people I know. I have an arm sleeve, DH has a few on his thighs and one on his inner bicep. We’re middle class radio 4 listening bores so not wild in any way but we are in our 20s.
This is funny because I’m mid 30s and had to think quite hard to even think of anyone who has one.
Echobelly · 02/09/2021 17:29

Young people probably see them as associated with those 'old' Millennials with their side partings and skinny jeans now Grin

NK346f2849X127d8bca260 · 02/09/2021 17:29

I have five adult children aged 20 upwards, none have tattoos. I am pretty certain they would have told me if they had.
My teen dd has a heart condition so has been advised not to have any when older.
