Anyone got any Adult DC with no tattoos

flexandimpress · 02/09/2021 16:38

Has anyone got any young adult children who don't have tattoos and don't like them. My DS who is 21 said that he's never getting a tattoo as he doesn't like them. It made wonder how common are tattoos nowadays?

None here either and out of their friends just one has a tiny one.

emilylily · 02/09/2021 17:30

@Hemingwaycat

I think most people under 40 have at least one but it may just be the people I know. I have an arm sleeve, DH has a few on his thighs and one on his inner bicep. We’re middle class radio 4 listening bores so not wild in any way but we are in our 20s.
I think it might just be the people you know. I'm 30-something and most of the people I know don't have or like them. I have a couple of friends with small inconspicuous tattoos on their ankles or backs.

My DDs are now in their 30s and neither has expressed any wish for one.
Maybe the local grotty tattoo parlour being closed down years ago for causing a hepatitis outbreak in its customers helped, along with my revelation that they are referred to as “tramp stamps” by my hospital colleagues!

EmeraldShamrock · 02/09/2021 17:31

From Siblings 3 out of 5 have no tattoos.
When DD is old enough she definitely will.
DS who knows?

lemoncrisp · 02/09/2021 17:34

Nope neither my 33 year old son or 29 year old daughter have any.

Daughter sometimes jokingly threatens to get tattoo'd knowing I don't like them. There are things that would upset me more than tattoos so it wouldn't be a big issue.

Floralnomad · 02/09/2021 17:34

Ours are 29 and 22 , and neither have a tattoo ( or piercing ) or have expressed any interest in getting one .

@VapeVamp12

To some of the parents on here saying their kids don't have any. I am 35, I have seven tattoos and my parents have never seen any of them!
Same 😂
Thighdentitycrisis · 02/09/2021 17:35

Yes I do

TableFlowerss · 02/09/2021 17:36

I think it’s just a way of expressing yourself, some people love them, others not.

I don’t particularly like the look of them. I wouldn’t chose to get one and because I think they look tacky. I appreciate others will be aghast but that’s my opinions. Friends however love them and that’s fine too.

It just depends what your preferences are.

muffinffaces · 02/09/2021 17:38

30s & don't have any. Often debated it but glad I didn't it. There ubiquitous now so it puts me off.

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 02/09/2021 17:38

None of my 3 have tattoos

Dd (19) only got her ears pierced about 4 months ago so shes a while a way from any further modifications

Ds1 is needle phobic

Ds2 (18) will be the one to watch I reckon. I do not believe he will get a tattoo but he’ll be the most likely to surprise me

Ughmaybenot · 02/09/2021 17:39

I’m one of five, all between 22 and 31, two of us don’t have tattoos, three do. One has one, one has two and one has four.
DH is one of three brothers, similar age range, none have any tattoos.

FilthyforFirth · 02/09/2021 17:39

My kids are babies I am one of 4, early 20s to mid 30s and none of us have tattoos. Only 3 people in my very large family have them. I would be upset if either DS's wanted one when older as I personally hate them.

bungaloid · 02/09/2021 17:39

None of my children are sailors or criminals, so on that basis they don't require tattoos.

vodkaredbullgirl · 02/09/2021 17:40

My youngest got her 1st tat when she turned 18, my eldest has none.

My son's are in their early 20s. Neither has tattoos.

DownthePlath · 02/09/2021 17:41

My DF (50s) has just finished his sleeve. I think it looks great!

Each to their own 🤷🏻‍♀️ Having tattoos doesn't make you any better than someone without tattoos, and vice versa.

ratspeaker · 02/09/2021 17:41

only one of my 4 has tattoos, many, quite intricate and rather nice

I dont have any but my sister does

MrsAvocet · 02/09/2021 17:41

None in our family. My DD went through a phase when she was 16/17 of saying she was going to get tattoos as soon as she was 18, but in fact she never did. I think initially it may have been the realisation of how much it would cost, given the Bank of Mum & Dad's refusal to fund body art, but as time went on she just decided against the idea.

FedNlanders · 02/09/2021 17:42

I dont have any and nor does husband. Kids don't seem too interested yet (17yr old)

WhatsTheBFD · 02/09/2021 17:44

I’m 35 and have a lot of tattoos, I have a PhD and work in a lab, high level.

DBro is covered, he works with reptiles.

DSis x4 have no tattoos, 1 is a SAHM, 1 a hairdresser, 1 a beautician, 1 a nurse.

My Dad is covered in them, he’s an artist.

Mum has none, she hates them Grin

Iwant2move · 02/09/2021 17:44

Mine are 28, 26 and 23. None have tattoos and nor do they want any. They are all male.
