Anyone got any Adult DC with no tattoos

flexandimpress · 02/09/2021 16:38

Has anyone got any young adult children who don't have tattoos and don't like them. My DS who is 21 said that he's never getting a tattoo as he doesn't like them. It made wonder how common are tattoos nowadays?

Nothing against them, just never been bothered with getting one.

MissCruellaDeVil · 02/09/2021 19:44

I'm 24 and never had any, wouldn't get one done either.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 02/09/2021 19:45

I don’t understand the tattoo hate though ... one friend would practically disown a child if they cane home with them. I’ve always been a bit “if that’s the worse they do in their teens/20s then we’ve been very lucky’ 🤷🏼‍♀️

zingally · 02/09/2021 19:45

I'm 36 and don't have any tattoos. I think they're a bit chavvy in all honesty.
None of my immediate friendship group have any either.

Blossomtoes · 02/09/2021 19:45

We have four adult kids - not a tattoo between the lot of them.

Abraxan · 02/09/2021 19:45

19y Dd doesn't have any and currently has no intention of doing so.

Always makes me lol when people call tattoos chavvy. All those chavvy heavy metal fans and musicians
WhatsTheBFD · 02/09/2021 19:50

Ewwww, as if a PP has used chavvy as an insult.

Grow up.

I had a fab uni professor - head of the subject and published author - with a tattoo sleeve. What a chav, ay? Grin

Dd really wanted one when she was 14/15 and I came on MN and asked for advice. Was advised to draw it and stick it on her mirror for three months, where she'd see it every day. She took it down after a fortnight and has never mentioned it since. That was over ten years ago and I don't think she's got one as I've seen her undressed, but she could have. She went into fashion and changes her look often so I.like to think she wouldn't get one. Her BFF has one. DS (27) doesn't like them, thankfully.

My 26 year old d's is covered in them , the 18 year old hasn't decided what he wants yet

I have 5 including a half sleeve. Oh and I'm not a sailor or a criminal 🤣

But are you a 'chav'?

In relation to tattoos I think it's what my mum would call 'common'.
VestaTilley · 02/09/2021 19:58

We don’t have grown up DC, but DH and I are 35 and we don’t have any. I think they’re awful!

Plenty of our friends don’t have any either. I know two female friends who’ve got a few each, but out of a big social circle they’re actually the only ones I can think of who have them.

annacondom · 02/09/2021 20:01

The thing about being a sailor or a criminal (a gang member?) is one interesting aspect of their history. But they are/were also disliked in my family due to their connection with the Holocaust.

KindnessMyFriends · 02/09/2021 20:01

Dd 27 and ds 31 have neither tats nor piercings. Don't seem interested in ever getting them.

I think my biggest concern would be how difficult and expensive they are to get rid of if you change your mind.
HeadNorth · 02/09/2021 20:06

My oldest DD has a tattoo & I didn't even notice for over 2 years. She wasn't keeping it secret, it is tucked away & I never spotted it. So all the posters pontificating their views on tattoos and how their precious darlings would never have one. Are you sure Grin?

123boysrule · 02/09/2021 20:08

3 Sons and none of them have tattoos....never ever wanted them...all adults now.

FastFood · 02/09/2021 20:10

I can hear the sound of pearls being clutched just by reading the title of the thread.

Eve81 · 02/09/2021 20:11

I’m 31 and do not have any tattoos. The only other people I know without any are my husband and two brothers. Very popular in my age group I think.

LookAtMoiPloise · 02/09/2021 20:12

Thanks for that.

I was asking the poster to explain how a tattoo actually makes someone a 'chav'.

I love reading all the comments insulting people with tattoos, amusing regardless, but also makes me want more. 😂
Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 02/09/2021 20:21

The child here haha
I have 3 large and 2 small
DB has none, both parents hate them but are ok with mine as all are hideable.
DH has 3 large, 1 sleeve and a few small
SiL has none, PiL aren't bothered by them
