Would you say once / twice a week is normal?

Not for me. Work, running, taking dc out means I'm out at least 6 days out of 7.

You are asking AIBU ‘to wonder...’
What is unreasonable about wondering anything. Wonder as much as you like.

Bebethany · 26/08/2021 19:21

I work full time so every day. However when I’m on annual leave, once or twice a week.

Chris08 · 26/08/2021 19:21

I go out as much as possible. 3 or 4 times a day wouldn’t be unusual for me. I love seeing people & interacting. Plenty of time indoors if my mobility starts to fail.

FreyaW · 26/08/2021 19:25

I leave the house once a fortnight. I visit a friend for a few hours and come home again.
But it's been more than a month this time since I've been over the door..and it won't be for another while yet.
I know it's not normal..but I'm not normal..

I'm assuming you don't work?

I am a mum to a 20 month year old. I work five afternoons a week so I'm out five times for that. I also go out in the mornings before work, to the park or babygroups or my sister's. Then at the weekend, I will go out to several places both days. Yet I feel I'm a homebird 🤦 I think if I only.left the house once or twice a week I'd be bored stiff. I still get bored and I'm always doing something 🤦🤦

Imnewhere1991 · 26/08/2021 19:44

Some of these posts have shocked me..what do you do at home all the time?? Watch TV? Don't you get bored?

Apocalyptichorsewoman · 26/08/2021 19:46

I'm out loads - work, horse - I also have a 'boyfriend' ( am 52 - not sure what to call him really 🤔) and we don't live together, so am out seeing him. I also play cricket twice a week etc

On average I go out once a day. I do things before and after work and when i return home, I tend not to go out again.

Harmonypuss · 26/08/2021 19:56

For me (disabled), yes, once our twice a week is about right but if I could get out more I would.

I would ask for more context in what you mean by leaving the house, are you including people who still go out to work 5+ days a week or are you only talking about shopping or "going out" socialising?

helpIhateclothesshopping · 26/08/2021 19:58

It depends on the situation. Most people would likely leave the house most days for work, school run, exercise or shopping.

copernicium · 26/08/2021 20:05

I walk the dog twice a day, do two school runs, take and collect DC from evening clubs, go shopping once or twice a week, out for a meal perhaps once a week, plus often we do weekend outings. So near on 40!

I rarely get bored! I do my hobbies at home, read, play video games, I wfh, I study my university course at home, exercise.
Oblomov21 · 26/08/2021 20:11

I can easily stay at home for a couple of days happily.

Most of my friends are outdoorsy, walking dogs twice a day and couldn't comprehend that.

Mumofferalkids · 26/08/2021 20:13

About 5 times a day…
Gym(6am)
Dog walk (7am)
Work (8am)
Evening sports for kids (6pm)
Dog walk (8-9pm)

Wrenna · 26/08/2021 20:14

Every day unless I’m sick.

WouldBeGood · 26/08/2021 20:18

Respect for your schedule @Mumofferalkids!

Barney60 · 26/08/2021 20:35

Everyday, even when off work, for a walk/shopping/ meeting family, friends, id go barmy if i didnt go out. Maybe slightly less during bad weather.

helentomelon · 26/08/2021 20:37

Some weeks I don't go out at all, but I'd say on average I'm out maybe 3 times a week.

I don't work, don't drive and we don't live within walking distance of shops so I do food shop online.

I have mental health issues which improve if I do go out but which hinder me from going out. So not ideal.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 26/08/2021 20:39

I am much more sedentary since WFH - and per pp often after a day of online working I am happy to just take a shower and put my pjs on, cook dinner, watch TV. I make an effort to get out for a walk most days, and do am exercise DVD if I don’t. I used to walk to
/from work, so that was an hour’s walk (2 x 30 mins) with no effort at all.

In winter I do very much enjoy a day hunkered down at home though. My DP is away next weekend so I will be by myself, and my plan is to get loads of nice food from M&S, a new book, have long baths, and snuggle up with the cat. (Not in the bath though.)

ufucoffee · 26/08/2021 21:02

I go out every day. I'd go up the wall if I didn't.

littleorchard45 · 26/08/2021 21:19

Usually in and out daily doing school runs, dog walks, shopping etc. Currently stuck at home post hysterectomy going totally 🤪

kennycat · 26/08/2021 21:21

Multiple times a day. Do you have young children? What age bracket are you in? My mum in her seventies probably doesn’t go out every day. I’m 40 and like a hyperactive wasp so can’t stay in for long, especially when I’ve got the children at home!
