Friend annoyed with me because of Covid result

On Friday, my friend's DC and mine got together and spent a few hours hanging out playing a sport . We had a chat together when we collected our kids, then went our separate ways. On Saturday morning, my DH woke up dizzy, thought it was vestibular neuritis again, looked online for an OTC remedy and read a Harvard article about dizziness being a Covid symptom, so took a PCR. This morning, me and the DC did lat flows and mine had a very faint line. Texted the people we had been in contact with to give a cursory heads up. Took myself and DC for a test; while getting it, DH got his back positive. Immediately texted all people we were in contact with to let them know there was a positive in our household. This particular friend read the message and didn't respond, but immediately put up a Facebook post saying she was furious that someone she had been in contact with had Covid and put her CV self and her child at risk for a game of football rather than staying home and being safe and considerate, and if she dies she hopes they feel guilty for being such a selfish fucker.

Uh.

How do I respond to that?

I wouldn't grace it with a responce but i would terminate the friendship with immediate effect

Set the record straight that you did not have symptoms at that time and then block

Why do you think she has to self isolate? Was it indoor football?

I'd post saying you don't have a crystal ball and so we're unable to predict that a member of your household would develop symptoms some time after you met.

She’s very childish if she has nothing to say directly to you but chooses to post cryptic messages on fb instead. Most people grow out of that behaviour.

You didn’t have any symptoms when you saw them. You developed symptoms the following day so you did the right thing and got tested. Covid still exists, everyone has a risk of catching it when they meet up with others. Most people are happy to take that risk, but sometimes you get unlucky and you’ll unknowingly interact with someone who has it. But you don’t have to justify yourself to her or anyone.

And from her perspective, there’s nothing wrong with feeling a bit frustrated (or anxious) if you learn you’ve come into contact with the virus. But again that’s a risk you take, and it’s not very fair to write snotty messages about it.

I don’t think I’d respond but I’d rethink if I wanted to continue the friendship.

Ignore her.

If she is that worried perhaps she shouldn’t be going out to see people. If you had known you where feeling ill and then still seen her she may have had a point but at the point you met she was as likely to be possibly infectious as you!

Respond to her post on facebook and let her know that if she had bothered to speak to you or respond to your message (rather than post shite on Facebook instead), she would have known that the symptoms were not present at the time of the get-together and appeared afterwards.

I would then block her because she definitely isnt any sort of friend.

I would respond. In public. On the same message she put on. At the time you went to hers no one had anything to indicate covid. And I'd make a point of calling her out on her putting this on Facebook too.

How did you get the PCR test, and then result, back so much quickly OP?

PCRs have to be a: ordered, and then b: sent off to a lab for results.

Don'tdrink..:

Dh got symptoms Saturday morning.
Did his test same days.
Result back next day.
Op did LFT today which has a faint positive.

Those timings totally work.
Where we are it's very easy to get a same day appointment, often within a couple of hours. And results are taking 24 hours or less to be returned.

Can get results from a PCR test within 12 hours where I am (Scotland).
I have both times I've had to get one, including one I did at 8pm on a Saturday night and I had the results before 8am on the Sunday morning.
Even quicker if you are in the isles...

We had results at 11pm after an 8.30am test.

PCRs don't need to be ordered.

We have walk in and drive thru options.
We can book them online and go to them the very same day.

Dd had one a week and half a go. Her friend tested positive. Dd want needing to isolate but we did a pcr anyway. Went online and booked one within 90 minutes. Result was back before she woke the next day.

She's a fanny. I'd love to be bold enough to call her out on fb but in real life i wouldn't be that brave. "I am the friend she is referring to incase anyone is worrying and was symptomless and unable to predict the future when we last met up but thanks for helping me let others know".

I would certainly not continue the friendship though.

@DontDrinkDontSmokeWhatDoIDo I had a pcr result within 13 hours recently. Booked test at 7.30am, test at 8.30 result back at 10pm.
