Butter and marmite? DH has just walked in mid-breakfast prep and is HORRIFIED! I've never eaten it any other way...

YABU to eat weetabix full stop, it's vile Grin

SpacePug · 01/08/2021 09:41

YABVVVVVVU. The only way is soaked in milk and drizzled in honey.
Doesn't it make a big crumbly mess? 😱

KatherineOfGaunt · 01/08/2021 09:41

DRY Weetabix?! Doesn't it just crumble to pieces the moment you bite into it?

Sycamoretrees · 01/08/2021 09:41

Is it because you've run out of bread?!

KatherineOfGaunt · 01/08/2021 09:42

And don't you then have to drink a gallon of liquid to get the dry taste out of your mouth?

Accidentgirlfriend · 01/08/2021 09:42

Bleugh 🤮

HoldingTheDoor · 01/08/2021 09:42

YABVU. Marmite is evil.

harriethoyle · 01/08/2021 09:42

@SpacePug no, it's just like eating cold toast. My mum always used to make our weetabix like this and all my sibs eat it this way too. Never with milk!

harriethoyle · 01/08/2021 09:43

Oh dear. My world is shattering around my ears. My DH will be so bloody smug!

HoldingTheDoor · 01/08/2021 09:43

I've also never known anyone to butter a Weetabix. But the Marmite is so much worse.

MyFloorIsLava · 01/08/2021 09:44

What the actual ever loving fuck is wrong with you???? Shock

harriethoyle · 01/08/2021 09:44

@Sycamoretrees 😂😂😂

Kalvinette · 01/08/2021 09:44

Urgh. Weetabix is awful unless coated in sugar and drowned in milk and even then it's just "okay"

Janaih · 01/08/2021 09:45
Biscuit
harriethoyle · 01/08/2021 09:45

I just think weetabix with milk would be like baby pap...

harriethoyle · 01/08/2021 09:46

@MyFloorIsLava 😂🙈 pretty much what DH said!

Awrite · 01/08/2021 09:47

Well, I wasn't expecting that.

Your dh seems a fair and decent man op. It's only right he should know who he's married to.

ApolloandDaphne · 01/08/2021 09:47

I had weetabix also this morning. I had it with blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and milk just like a normal person!

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 01/08/2021 09:47

I'm happy to eat my weetabix as mush with milk, or dry with butter - I've never thought of adding marmite, that's genius! Do you dab the buttered side into the crumbs on the plate to pick them up? Grin

EllaBlaire · 01/08/2021 09:48

Soggy weetabix is disgusting… but surely it’s not very nice dry either… like a big ryvita?

tulippa · 01/08/2021 09:49

I remember my brother doing this on a childhood holiday to Austria. We arrived on a Sunday evening and no shops or restaurants were open. We had to make do with the food my mum had packed. DB chose to eat marmite on weetabix. I chose to starve. I like both marmite and weetabix but how they should be eaten (ie not together).
Didn't realise anyone actually did this as a thing. How strange.

harriethoyle · 01/08/2021 09:50

YES @JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue that's EXACTLY what I do!!

OP posts:
amylou8 · 01/08/2021 09:50

I love Weetabix with butter. I'm reserving judgment on the marmite.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 01/08/2021 09:51

Civilisation is disintegrating. I've never heard of such an abomination.

GiantToadstool · 01/08/2021 09:51

What on earth?!

I love toast and marmite and butter. I loce weetabix. But why on earth would you do that to weetabix. Did your mum run out of bread one morning and it became a thing? (And breads heaper surely?)

Do you eat it with a spoon or pick it up? Either way doesn't it just crumble?

So many questions!
