Butter and marmite? DH has just walked in mid-breakfast prep and is HORRIFIED! I've never eaten it any other way...

Your only act of unreasonableness is using marmite. It should always be VEGEMITE

TheSunShinesBrighter · 01/08/2021 10:03

And here we have butter and marmite!
Not far into my Google search proving us all right... (see pic)

Northernsoullover · 01/08/2021 10:04

I love a buttered weetabix. Not sure about the marmite although I do like the stuff.

TheSunShinesBrighter · 01/08/2021 10:04

Again too much butter though.

KurtWilde · 01/08/2021 10:05

I eat mine with butter and jam on. Can't stand it with milk on.

newnortherner111 · 01/08/2021 10:06

If 'butter' is margarine then OK, but not Marmite. Jam or marmalade perhaps.

harriethoyle · 01/08/2021 10:06

NO @Dogmalysis. Get out.

@TheSunShinesBrighter if they reversed the butter marmite ratio on that photo it would be about right. I should have taken a photo before I ate this morning!

I don't even know where to start with the sheer unreasonableness of this

  1. Weetabix full stop
  2. Dry weetabix
  3. Marmite

It's Madness. Madness

SpeckledyHen · 01/08/2021 10:08

My husband’s family have always eaten weetabix as a biscuit with butter . I’ve never tried it … will now though with marmite .

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 01/08/2021 10:08

I'm not sure about the ham and eggs, or the baked beans ... but the butter ratio looks about right on most of those photos Grin

KurtWilde · 01/08/2021 10:09

Never considered putting marmite on when I'm out of jam. I'll try that next time.

harriethoyle · 01/08/2021 10:09

@BlueEyesWhiteDragon Grin ask your CF parker if he likes it when he rocks up later...

I agree. Thin spread of butter, good amount of topping.

I might try marmite on your recommendation.
I love marmite.

Molecule · 01/08/2021 10:10

Obviously back in my day we didn’t have the luxury of spreadable butter, so sliced the butter thinly and kind of pressed it down onto the Weetabix. The uneven surface held it in place, though press too hard and it would crumble. Amazing what you can remember, good job I enjoyed that school otherwise this tread would have been quite triggering.

flapjackfairy · 01/08/2021 10:11

As a child we were allowed to eat weetabix with butter on as a special treat eg on holiday.
We loved it and I assumed it was a normal thing but only the other day I mentioned it to my husband and he was horrified so I am delighted to see this thread . I am not a complete freak after all.

Scarlettpixie · 01/08/2021 10:11

I regularly eat weetabix with butter too, you are not being unreasonable.

I occasionally eat it with milk but you have to eat it really quick or it turns to mush!

PricklesAndSpikes · 01/08/2021 10:11

My 13 year old daughter likes them lathered in crunchy peanut butter. But then she eats all her cereal dry. With a glass of milk on the side. She can't abide her cereal soggy! Grin

I thought I’d posted on the wrong thread for a moment!

No, don’t waste weetabix delicacies on that CF!

IonaLeg · 01/08/2021 10:12

I am so horrified

theedgeofglory · 01/08/2021 10:13

My 5 year old loves a dry weetabix. With nothing on it.
Not quite sure where he got the idea from but it's one of his favourites. Shock

ThinWomansBrain · 01/08/2021 10:13

Butters OK - but berries, not marmite.

DeathWinsAGolfish · 01/08/2021 10:13

Weetabix should only be eaten with butter, milk is the work of the devil.

I remember my grandparents hosting a German exchange student in the 70's, he ate them buttered and dipped in his black coffee...

TheSunShinesBrighter · 01/08/2021 10:14

@ThinWomansBrain

Butters OK - but berries, not marmite.
Cereal of any type and fresh fruit is awful.
harriethoyle · 01/08/2021 10:14

Yes @PricklesAndSpikes same. I don't like milky cereal 🤢

That is so abnormal!
