Wanting a wage for playing with his granddaughter

This is what my dad ‘Joked’ well, he wasn’t laughing about today.
Parents come to stay with us, he was playing with toddler Dd, she always wants to play with him. He played for a bit, then stood up and said he was going to the bank to get his wage. Confused, I asked ‘Wage for what?’ He said ‘For this’ meaning playing/looking after Dd,
Aibu to feel hurt that he obviously begrudges spending time with her, I'd rather he didn’t if he didn’t want to.
How involved are your parents with your kids? Feel disappointed in mine a lot.

Thank you everyone, just feeling like it’s been a few weeks of intensity and an overload of emotions. Have space now so feel calmer, I think I am a person who needs time out on my own, so it’s been an overwhelming time.

I have had my grand son since he was two. All holidays, when he was sick, school runs, playdates, parties, during lockdown.

Nothing was ever provided and never been offered a penny but, he is my grand son.
A kind gesture now and again would have been nice.
I have worked around him and taken him with me on occasions.
The time has now come for me to hand over the reins as I feel they need to work around their son. I have lead my life around him for six years, now its my time.

Am I wrong? I don't think so.

Just a heads up @Bigdisappointment, but the scummy papers have picked up on your story.

Gawd

Bigdisappointment · 01/08/2021 13:55

@SaisongWTAF!! Are they actually allowed to do that, how is this a story to put in a paper?! Should I get this deleted? They don’t read that paper thank god, but imagine if they saw it somehow

That's what happens on here. Press lift threads all the time. If you're really lucky you might make the daily mail.

We're the product, not the customer on Mumsnet.

Bigdisappointment · 01/08/2021 14:16

@gamerchick Ffs, should I just delete. Surely it’s not even an interesting story for a paper! I just read it and was like ‘And?’

OP posts:
RhonaRed · 01/08/2021 14:18

It's a non story. But yes you might want to delete your threads.

Floralcoral · 01/08/2021 14:18

Awkward! Even if you ask for the thread to be deleted the article won't be. I'm sure they won't see it anyway.

gamerchick · 01/08/2021 14:30

It's up to you OP. Maybe a name change if you have other threads linked to it.

PurpleMustang · 01/08/2021 14:41

Unfortunately its the lowest, laziest type of journalism.

Bigdisappointment · 01/08/2021 15:07

Most definitely, don’t get it 🤷🏻‍♀️So paranoid it would be on tv or something, yes I know that’s ridiculous, but can’t believe that! They won’t read The mirror, it’s years since they bought papers and it wouldn’t be that one. Asking for deletion of this, but thank you so much for everyone’s help and advice, I really appreciated it. Had lengthy conversation today why Dp, I’m looking for some counselling as there were a lot of unhealthy things in my childhood which were not my fault, but which I need to work on, it’s all coming more to my attention now that I have a daughter.
Thank you everyone 💐 Xx
