How many duvet covers do you own?

CorrieALanus · 27/07/2021 16:15

Not a TAAT but obliquely inspired.

I own 3 but only use 2. None are themed in any way, quite plain.

So you have themes? Seasonal duvet covers? Where do you store them, how often do you change/rotate them and when do you get rid?

Because DH bleeds, and the dogs occasionally join me, I have bought 2 x sets for the last 2 changes, a brushed cotton check for cooler weather and floral for warmer. We also have 2 Christmas sets (that go on from November 6th until new year May, and still want ironing and putting away). Have one previous set in case of emergencies, and very possibly a set in the attic in case of dire emergencies, so that’s 8. Spare bed has about 5 sets, 2 I’ve bought and the 3 DH had before he met me are still around somewhere.

woodhill · 27/07/2021 17:25

I have loads but tend to use the same ones. Some are from single beds that have become double.

I have 6 king sets I think but some are old and I prefer cotton

I don't buy seasonal ones

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 27/07/2021 17:25

3 for my bed, 2 for spare bed which DP sleeps in (snoring etc). DD has 3 as well.

FastFood · 27/07/2021 17:26

5 sets for one person but 2 bedrooms, one is going to be retired soon.
No theme, they're almost all white, I have a fav one though, always excited when I use it (which is pretty sad)

Got a (grey) winter one, a jersey bedlinen set from Muji which is suuuuper cosy when its cold.

SquirrelFan · 27/07/2021 17:27

Three for our bed - one white on white stripes, very luxurious, two a horrible beige that DH bought because some salesperson persuaded him they'd "go with everything" (our sheets are white - beige is the one thing that doesn't go). Stored in under bed drawer.
Each kid has... two; no seasonal themes, just ones I thought they would like.
One stored in dresser, the other in an under bed drawer.

RuthW · 27/07/2021 17:27

Three.

Two that are different but match my bedroom and a Christmas one.

Dd has the same.

lljkk · 27/07/2021 17:28

Probably at least 50 duvet covers. Probably 80% were gifts or someone's castoffs, a few were charity buys I meant to make into patchwork before I lost confidence. Some are ~ 30 yrs old. I only stop using them when they fall apart.

Don't ask about towels or socks. Same story, ancient, cast-offs, gifts...

Datsandcogs · 27/07/2021 17:28

2 double beds, 4 singles, at least 2 sets per bed, nothing seasonal.

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 27/07/2021 17:29

I must have about 50 sets of pj's in various styles (long sleeves, long trousers, short sleeves, cropped, shorts etc). I know it's too many but I love buying them. Duvets are very tempting too

Mantlemoose · 27/07/2021 17:30

2 winter, 2 summer. All white.

Whatamesssss · 27/07/2021 17:31

Loads, only have one kingsize bed though. Blush

Just bought a 1000 thread count, it is lovely but a bastard to wash and dry, also I'm convinced it's cursed, I had to wash it 3 times before I got it on the bed as it kept getting dirty while drying birdie poo, bastard cat luckily it dried before it got darked on.

Now thinking about getting a lovely xmas themed one too. Grin

LunaBunaTuna · 27/07/2021 17:31

@Needaholiday101

2 sets per bed. Store in the airing cupboard.
Same here, all double duvets since we got a double bed for DS.

I’ve just had a clear out of all bedding for a single bed and unwanted (threadbare) pillow cases. Airing cupboard looking much tidier and I’m happier for it.

That makes me twitch! 😂

We lived in a very small flat in Hong Kong for a year so had to be quite minimal. I tend to be quite ruthless about keeping too much stuff now even though we have more space back in our old home.

disconnected101 · 27/07/2021 17:35

I always heard that it should be three - one on the bed, one in the laundry cycle and one in the cupboard ready to go on.
I hate changing the bed (but I do so once a week, sheets more often if, er, sweated upon) so absolutely couldn't be arsed with the faff of seasonal, themed etc. but, each to their own.
OAN, I'm crap with acronyms - what's TAAT? I'm sure it's not Targeted Amino Acid Therapy or Technical Assistance and Advisory Team...

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/07/2021 17:36

One set per bed. Superking.

I have a tumble dryer so in the summer I don’t change the cover, I bundle the whole lot in & tumble dry it. I hate changing duvets.

lljkk · 27/07/2021 17:38

I hate wasting stuff.
I admit the sock population may need a cull.

It means thread about a thread

I have 6 for my bed (I have an addiction to nice duvet sets), which includes one which is kind of wintery with snowflakes print, and is brushed cotton.. I have 2 sets for the spare room. Mainly because it’s only slept in around one weekend a month (in normal times).

Workyticket · 27/07/2021 17:42

2 crap ones

We received some M&S and John Lewis vouchers from guests at our wedding last week and im hoping to get a lovely set from one or the other

We have about 5 sets for ds' bed

LaPampa · 27/07/2021 17:42

Lots! Some hand me downs, others I’ve bought as I liked the pattern. We live somewhere very tourist friendly and in some summers it can be like a b&b with multiple children staying plus spare room in action every weekend so we have gradually built up some useful spares.

I also have some brushed flannel sets for colder winter and vintage french linen sheets which we use in summer.

I also seem incapable of throwing anything away so I still have some sheets from university days. Plus inherited sheets from grandparents houses etc.

Fourandtwentymilliondoors · 27/07/2021 17:43

Probably 8 sets for our bed and 2 for the spare bed. I’m an addict - threw two old sets away at the weekend then went out and bought two more from an M&S outlet shop.

We have a chest of drawers for bedding and towels which is the bane of my life as it doesn’t all fit in.

Maybe I should stop buying bedding….

IReallyLikeCrows · 27/07/2021 17:44

I have too many and I'm going to sort them out and give some to a charity shop within the next couple of weeks. None of them are seasonal because I honestly don't get that and even if I was they're generally polycotton and without wanting to appear like a snobby twat I hate polycotton. It gets all bobbly and it feels crap against your skin so I only buy cotton which you can get for a fair price in a lot of places or - as I often do - buy second hand on eBay.

Of the too many I have I only use about four of them in regular rotation.

Bananalanacake · 27/07/2021 17:44

20 for a family of 4, all singles as I live in Germany where double duvets do not seem to exist. DH sleeps under a blanket as he finds duvets too warm. I have so many as MIL gives me 2 new ones every 2 years and I don't like to throw perfectly good ones away.

HorriderHenry · 27/07/2021 17:45

I have two identical ones for our bed and then one other.

For our three single quilts we have about 10 duvet covers.

reluctantbrit · 27/07/2021 17:54

3 sets for DH and me, teen DD has 3 and we have 2 for guests (bought for DD but she doesn't like the fact that they have motives stiched on them (hates anything not smooth, adult design).

They are in our wardrobes together with the sheets.

They are roated all year round.
