How many duvet covers do you own?

CorrieALanus · 27/07/2021 16:15

Not a TAAT but obliquely inspired.

I own 3 but only use 2. None are themed in any way, quite plain.

So you have themes? Seasonal duvet covers? Where do you store them, how often do you change/rotate them and when do you get rid?

I have 3 sets and 3 fitted sheets. Wash one, wear one, spare one is the way I work with most things.

JaceLancs · 27/07/2021 18:00

5 sets for my bed (2 are identical) one is very light colours so spring or summer, one is quite dark rich colours so tend to keep for autumn winter
Other 3 are just when I feel like a different look
DS has 3
Spare room (was DD) only has 1 set - but as all 3 beds are same size - I just use one of mine or DS depending on who visitor is
(Decor is neutral off white with grey carpet and mix of white and grey furniture so anything goes)

burritofan · 27/07/2021 18:01

Two per bed. One of ours is quite woollen/flannelly though and a bit hot for summer, so ideally would like another. Did used to have another but it got destroyed in the newborn nighttime poonami/postpartum sweat/relentless milk pukes stage and cut up for dusting rags.

If we had storage space, 3 per bed (on, in the wash, emergency) would be ideal.

rc22 · 27/07/2021 18:03

About 3 sets. All plain white cotton.

Egghead68 · 27/07/2021 18:04

Good question. Probably about 5 or 6 but only use 2.

Boood · 27/07/2021 18:13

2-3 sets per bed, but each set is one patterned, that goes on the actual duvet, plus a plain one that goes underneath without a duvet. Not seasonal, I had no idea that was a thing. Sounds a bit naff to me, but each to their own. And life expectancy of each duvet cover appears to be about 8 years, as I had to replace two that age recently because they suddenly wore so thin that they ripped.

Giotto479 · 27/07/2021 18:14

3, but am always buying new and giving to my sister. She must have 20!

Chicchicchicchiclana · 27/07/2021 18:17

5 double, 5 single

hiredandsqueak · 27/07/2021 18:19

I have three for my bed and the two dc have three each and then dd has a couple of Christmas ones.

Ladyrattles · 27/07/2021 18:20

I completely decluttered our linen cupboard and left just one spare set of things in a single & double size as we always wash and dry bedding same day. I was a bit too ruthless though and wish I'd kept a few of the blankets.

Mrsmadevans · 27/07/2021 18:24

About 20 Grin but they are my thang Grin

Hotfootit · 27/07/2021 18:24

3 sets for my and DH bed (all the same)
DD1 has 3 (she bought one for herself)
DD2 has 2
Spare room has 2
I think we have some single ones from when the DDs were small (about 3/4?) that we use for sleepover guests/spares.

YouthfulIndiscretion · 27/07/2021 18:25

Seven double duvet covers shared between our bed and the spare room.

TravellingJack · 27/07/2021 18:28

That thread made me admit I have far too many duvet covers, at least half a dozen, and whilst they weren't specifically bought as seasonal (as in Christmas/Halloween/summer etc), they are in terms of suiting the fabric weight/feel to the temperature. Nice soft cosy flannel type ones for cold weather, light cool cotton ones for warm weather. The warm weather ones tend to be lighter colours/patterns and the cold weather ones are more autumnal colours, but only by coincidence. They do get used for guests too though so that's not that many really, is it... Especially over the last couple of years, because if they were just being kept for guests, they'd barely have been used and thus not rotated through the wash much at all! I do want a special Christmas set though and feel more justified in getting one now BlushGrin

Sweettea1 · 27/07/2021 18:30

2 sets each altho I do have 2 emergency single ones that come in handy when dc has a sickness bug.

Serenissima21 · 27/07/2021 18:30

Two per bed plus when PILs died dh inherited all their old duvet covers and can't bear to throw them away. They are all garish prints and we use them on holiday.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 27/07/2021 18:32

I don't own any I have only coverless duvets in my house, the largest size fits in a normal washing machine and dries in less than an hour over my banister.
Best thing since sliced bread in my opinion. No more struggling with duvet covers.

One for our bed, one for the spare bed.

I grew up in a very cluttered house, so have kept everything very minimal in ours. Love it.

GetTaeFuck · 27/07/2021 18:53

12 double sets (we now have 3 double beds), including a teddy bear set for winter.

Single duvets… Probably about 20 Blush Youngest DD has inherited all of her siblings old sets!

HappyTimeTunnelDinosaur · 27/07/2021 18:57

We have 3 per bed, one on, one in the wash and one spare. We also have a Christmas one which I put on mid November time and which 8 always try to wash really quickly so it can go straight back on! Dd has the same for her room. I have about a million for the spare as my mum gave me a load of her old ones, though most are used for den building or end up as painting dust sheets.

ahoyshipmates · 27/07/2021 19:02

6 or 7 sets for our bed. Mainly because I buy new covers when the old ones have had it, and then can't bear to chuck them out because I still like them too much. Grin

TheOneWithThe · 27/07/2021 19:02

To answer your other questions:
So you have themes? No
Seasonal duvet covers? No, but a Christmas one sounds nice.
Where do you store them, how often do you change/rotate them and when do you get rid On the bed as it's just the one, goes in the wash every Thursday morning, had current one for about a year and half, still going strong. We had a n airing cupboard absolutely bursting with bedding when I was growing up: only about the 5% at the top of the pile got used.
