How many duvet covers do you own?

CorrieALanus · 27/07/2021 16:15

Not a TAAT but obliquely inspired.

I own 3 but only use 2. None are themed in any way, quite plain.

So you have themes? Seasonal duvet covers? Where do you store them, how often do you change/rotate them and when do you get rid?

I have two normal sets and one brushed cotton set for winter. Two sets for the spare bed.

Faranth · 27/07/2021 16:42

Approximately 487. I use two.

I decide on a colour scheme and get two that go with it. But I keep the old ones just in case

In case of what, I'm not entirely sure. National duvet cover shortage? 200 unexpected overnight house guests? Who knows. All I know is I genuinely can't fit any of my current use towels or sheets in my airing cupboard because it's full of 'just in case' linens. Blush

ComDummings · 27/07/2021 16:43

Like most people we have 2 each. No seasonal ones even though I have been tempted to get Christmas ones for the kids, just seems like a faff storing them for 10 months of the year!

CorrieALanus · 27/07/2021 16:44

Oh, now PJs I understand. Dread to think how many sets I own. And definitely Xmas ones in the mix (this used all year round of course). But I change them most nights and they are easy to wash and store.

One Christmas set will be getting another one, couple more of flower ones we use.

Excited101 · 27/07/2021 16:44

Oh god I have a lot, maybe 15?

I have 2 brushed cotton ones that I like in winter, one is a bit fairisle so that’s more of a Christmassy one. The rest are just regular cotton. I have one that I like for autumn because of the colour and pattern, most of the other favourites I use the rest of the time and the least favourites I use on the spare duvet for guests and for camping (we go quite a lot).

Socksorter · 27/07/2021 16:45

One for each bed, plenty of sheets but just the one duvet set each, wash in the mornings, hung out in summer dry over banister in winter, saves on storage, i used to have spares but love putting freshly washed bedding back on so that works for me

NutellaEllaElla · 27/07/2021 16:46

Not enough. Never enough.

daisyducky · 27/07/2021 16:46

2 sets. Both white. One for the bed, the other to be washed between changes.

I really don't get the seasonal covers Confused

lynxca16 · 27/07/2021 16:47

We have 2 sets for each bedroom and 3 for children's room - they are either plain or colour co-ordinated.
Never thought of Christmas BUT now it might become a thing?
All bed linen is kept in hotpress

Blamelesscars · 27/07/2021 16:49

We have 4 for our bed
Eldest had 4 sets (various character themed things)
Ds2 had 3

Dd is still in her cot so just had sheets but I got two beautiful cossetto ones in a sale for her when she’s ready for her bed.

No Christmas themed ones but one of DS1 is fleecy for winter because he likes that

Xyzzzzz · 27/07/2021 16:49

None themed

I think I have about 8

mummymayhem18 · 27/07/2021 16:49

I have a thing for duvet covers. I have about 5 that I'm using now. 1 Christmas cover. And about 5 ones that are still new in the pack. Definitely an addiction 🤣

godmum56 · 27/07/2021 16:49

non zip nada. I use sheets and counterpanes. I do have summer and winter lounge curtains though

FangsForTheMemory · 27/07/2021 16:50

There are two beds in my house, one single in the spare room, one double in mine. I bought three single ones for the spare bed. I have five for my own double bed. I've also just bought two flat sheets for hot weather. Yes I know it's more than I need, but I have a 'thing' for good bedlinen, having been brought up with Brentford Nylons brushed nylon sheets. I wish to add that one of my duvet covers is about 30 years old, I use it once a month and it's still going strong.

BarryTheKestrel · 27/07/2021 16:51

2 per bed and a Christmas set.
The Christmas set goes on mid December and comes off new year. The bottom sheet and pillow cases are washed in this time but our room is cold and we wear pjs in the winter so not worried about it getting grubby.

shouldistop · 27/07/2021 16:54

2 sets per bed, nothing seasonal.

FangsForTheMemory · 27/07/2021 16:54

Oh and none of mine are themed. They go with the decor of the room they're in.

BarbaraofSeville · 27/07/2021 16:54

We have 3 for our bed and two for the spare bed. They all get used.

We're childfree and the spare bed is only used by cats and I only really change it if it looks too hairy, has been pissed, puked or shit on, or kittens have been born on it (we foster for a rescue charity).

Sometimes it can go months, sometimes it needs changing faster than the washing can be done. There are two very similar duvet covers, both are about 10 years old.

On our bed, there's one fairly new one, one set that's about 10 years old, and one that I know is over 15 years old because I bought it to look nice in the photos when we were selling our old house.

The two older ones could do with replacing, but I like a type of duvet cover that doesn't really exist (at least 300 thread count, brightly coloured/patterned not pastel or white and preferably costs no more than about £50). Every so often I have a look for a new one, but am rarely successful. So we manage with what we've got for now.

BarbaraofSeville · 27/07/2021 16:55

Oh, nothing themed or seasonal. Just flowers, spots, stripes, that sort of thing.

queenrollo · 27/07/2021 16:55

2 per bed. Ours are plain white, but I have two indian block print cotton throws to go over the top, which I rotate as the mood takes me and a thicker quilted one to top the bed in the winter.

FenceSplinters · 27/07/2021 16:55

Two, and they are ancient! I sometimes go to look at new ones, but they are soooooooo expensive and it puts me off.

saoirse31 · 27/07/2021 16:56

Far too many.... Kept in hotpress

Tiddleztheelephant · 27/07/2021 16:56

3 per bed I think.
Ds does have a Christmas duvet cover but that's about it for seasonal bedding.

optimistic40 · 27/07/2021 16:57

Oooh, I'm not sure.

No themes in any room. I have the most as I was given a load by a sibling who changed bed size. I think I have five or six sets. They are stored in that Ikea cube storage (Kallax?) in my bedroom. The children have the same storage but fewer sets, perhaps 2 or 3 per child.
