How many duvet covers do you own?

CorrieALanus · 27/07/2021 16:15

Not a TAAT but obliquely inspired.

I own 3 but only use 2. None are themed in any way, quite plain.

So you have themes? Seasonal duvet covers? Where do you store them, how often do you change/rotate them and when do you get rid?

@FenceSplinters John Lewis's sale. You won't be sorry.

EmbarrassingMama · 27/07/2021 16:59

Doesn't it cost you a fortune? Shamefully I've only got one set for our bed which I have to wash and dry and get back on in the same day which is a faff. Keep thinking I'd like another but they cost over £100 for a super king?!

My spare room double I have 4 sets for (why..?), then two each for the kid's beds.

Armychefbethebest · 27/07/2021 17:00

5 for each bed including thin cotton ones some waffle fleece for winter which are amazing and then we all have a Christmas set each too x

Hollyhocksarenotmessy · 27/07/2021 17:00

2 for our bed as it makes laundry easier.

1 for spare bed.

1 horrible one we use when camping.

Peoniesandpeaches · 27/07/2021 17:01

4 including a Christmas one. It’s a brushed cotton scandi type pattern that is beautifully warm and gets put on the bed at the start of December. The others are just different weights/fabrics and changed out depending on the weather.

Wakip · 27/07/2021 17:01

2, as it takes ages for them to dry so want a spare to go on when other is being washed. Not themed, cba with that, just bought what was cheap at the time!

Pompoms1 · 27/07/2021 17:03

We have about 4 for our bed but Dd must have about 12. (Some are seasonal so 3 Christmas ones etc) so not all in use all the time.

GothamGirl1970 · 27/07/2021 17:03

Way too many. All of them white. More than 1 bed in house so king and doubles. It’s my home not a hotel. I need my head examined.

CatsLikeBoxes · 27/07/2021 17:04

I've got 5 for my bed - 3 mainly white ones with a little bit of coloured embroidery type bits on them which are for summer time, and 2 cosy coloured (plum / deep pinky reddish ones) for winter.

Vicliz24 · 27/07/2021 17:05

Two summer ( cotton ) and two winter (brushed cotton) floral for summer and checks for winter . For the spare bed two old ones that were ours ( rarely have visitors)

VeryLongBeeeep · 27/07/2021 17:05

Too many! Maybe about 10 or 12 for two beds. The bedrooms are both pretty neutral so I like to add a splash of different colours with the duvet covers...buying them in sales is something of an addiction of mine Blush

As for storage, I have a blanket chest at the bottom of one of the beds.

ProbablyLate · 27/07/2021 17:07

We have 2 that we switch every fortnight on our bed. They have the same main colour so coordinate with our lamp shares Grin

We also have a festive, brushed cotton one which I bought cheap in a sale then surprised DH with as a bit of a joke this year.

For the spare bed we have two, both of which were DHs before marriage and I detest.

They live in our divan bed if we're organised between changes or if not spend thrown over the bannister to dry.

Puffalicious · 27/07/2021 17:09

I've got loads Blush I think 5 for our king - all white, decent thread count- but I use brushed cotton/ teddy sheets in winter and lovely cotton flat sheets in summer. All season duvet. At least 2 of those duvet covers are 15+ years old.

4 doubles for DS1.

4 singles for DS2 (spare bed in his room too).

8 singles for DS3Blush- he's ASN so I suppose I go with his whims.

I had loads more, but passed them to exH for my older 2 at his house/ charity as I decorated both their rooms in the last year. (well overdue).

Interestingly, I've just put a fitted sheet in the garage as a dust sheet which was almost 20 years old. It's only just split- like PP I buy white and they bleach beautifully in the sun.

Bedding kept in a lovely, wooden blanket box in my room my mam bought me. DS1 has an ottoman bed which is super handy for all theirs.

Looubylou · 27/07/2021 17:09

6 for our bed, not seasonal, variety of patterns. 4 for child's bed - characters and army inspired. I also have 2 of those huge quilted covers but never use as they have to go to dry cleaners. Shame, as they look lovely.

Looubylou · 27/07/2021 17:11

Keep them on top shelf in wardrobe.

Mummyoflittledragon · 27/07/2021 17:12

About 18 for 4 beds. Some are really washed out and just for spare and includes winter weight ones. 4 are unopened. 1 as it’s for a spare room and not yet used. The other 3 because they were a steal in the sales.

firstimemamma · 27/07/2021 17:13

3 for each bed (toddler and king) but use 2 for each

Buckleyourseatbelt · 27/07/2021 17:14

2 for each bed, so that’s 10.

I have a Christmassy cushion that stays on my sofa permanently.

YoTheGinPussyOfThigh · 27/07/2021 17:16

4 sets,
two with cats on from ASDA, not expensive but very cool in the summer.
One from Primark in a tropical print, lovely but hot.
One Cath Kidston with flowers on, again too hot in the summer but beautiful

Umpteen single duvet covers, some ancient and very soft. Varying patterns but mostly floral.

Seasidemumma77 · 27/07/2021 17:20

2x summer (100% cotton) and 2x winter (brushed cotton)

Proudboomer · 27/07/2021 17:20

In have 5. Two winter brushed cotton sets, two cotton sets I bought and one vintage dorma set that I I inherited from my late mil. She has been dead for over 25 years and she probably had it quite a few years before that but once washed and ironed and on the bed it still looks crisp and bright. Much better quality than the ones I bought.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 27/07/2021 17:21

Two for our bed, one for spare bed. Nothing seasonal

Hallyup6 · 27/07/2021 17:21

Two for each bed and a few spare childish ones that I use if the kids have sleepovers. More for toddler beds in case of accidents. Only buy new when they get holes in them. Swap them every couple of weeks when I do the washing. No Christmas ones.

Housewife2010 · 27/07/2021 17:22

We have one duvet cover for our bed. It's a super kingsize linen one so was very expensive, so I change and launder it the same day.

GothamGirl1970 · 27/07/2021 17:23

Follow on question: do you stay loyal to one company or just buy what you fancy wherever it’s sold?

When I moved to this country decades ago (British Citizen now for decades always paid taxes just throwing that out), the country I moved from had “king” beds. I was young and earning a living wage but barely. The U.K. has king beds (only had one bed then). I brought everything I could in the move. I mean everything because money was so short. I found out U.K. king is not the same size as some other countries king size and then throw IKEA in the mix and I was in a bedding game show
