Had a Tom Cruise film on in the background today as I was packing for holiday. It was Collateral on Netflix. It got me thinking about how amazing he was.

When I was a kid in the 80s he was the biggest movie star in the world. He has an amazing legacy that is somewhat tarnished by his association with Scientology.

I loved Cocktail as a kid. How can a genuine movie star just loose a big chunk of their reputation, was it the couch jumping I wonder….the lack of people around him who tell him the truth? I wonder if he sees his daughter?

He was amazing though, I’m not bu about that 😀

I read that Suri was at the age where she would have to go to that Seaworld Scientology place which was what triggered the surprise divorce. Katie put her daughter first.

I know this thread was like a month ago, but my friend just WhatsApped to asked if I’d heard about this (not sure if she knows the people directly). This is how he keeps getting a general reputation as a nice guy.

His helicopter needed to land on private land since nearest airport was closed, he asked permission, they landed, and then he chatted with the children, signed autographs, and let them go for a ride in the helicopter.

If he’s not a genuinely good person, then he must have the canniest PR in the world, and I do wonder if they’re actually Scientology too (his PR).

AFAIK he has no relationship with Suri at all because she’s no longer a Scientologist. Katie raises her single handedly, he probably sends a chunk of money every month but that’s about it. Nice guys don’t desert their children.

Where did you hear that? I read an article recently that says he still has regular contact with Suri, and she's the only non-scientologist he associates with, but he does because she's his daughter.

This is v tentative, so excuse that, but I know somebody who is related to somebody who is pally with Cruise. Inner circle pally, as in they get 'the cake' (google it) every Xmas.

He is good to the people that he lets into that circle but I think if ANY of them said anything publicly critical of Scientology there'd be no more special Xmas Bundt for them.

I’ve not seen many of his films but he comes across really well in interviews. Not keen on the Scientology rubbish tho.

There are lots of stories about Nicole's creepy dad/BIL and their deaths where she came from a terrible world herself. After reading this, I did wonder if this is what Scientology has on her to make her not fight to see the children.

All I could find was that they died of heart attacks. What was creepy about them? Super curious now
