Had a Tom Cruise film on in the background today as I was packing for holiday. It was Collateral on Netflix. It got me thinking about how amazing he was.

When I was a kid in the 80s he was the biggest movie star in the world. He has an amazing legacy that is somewhat tarnished by his association with Scientology.

I loved Cocktail as a kid. How can a genuine movie star just loose a big chunk of their reputation, was it the couch jumping I wonder….the lack of people around him who tell him the truth? I wonder if he sees his daughter?

He was amazing though, I’m not bu about that 😀

I actually don't know what I think about him; handsome bugger and he sounds polite which has to be better that a lot of diva actors to work with!

But the way he's treated his kids, all 3 of them, and the Scientology thing is beyond creepy.

His kids from his marriage to Nicole purportedly adore him.

I think it's just so obvious he is "on" all the time

I think he was reasonably normal until he left NK . Then he became increasingly deranged .

A beard is the term for a woman who a gay guy uses to hide his sexuality. Friend was told if she went along with it for a year or two she'd get a big chunk of money after she "broke up with him". She declined.

He was amazing in Born on the 4th of July. I think fundamentally he is decent.

He is also completely into scientology. The jumping on the sofa and going to Brooke Shields house to tell her off was very odd. Scientology has a lot of his secrets. I'm not convinced he is straight.

We know what a beard is Shatner and we also know you have zero clue about TC's sexuality.

His people definitely procure his gf's though, that's on record.

In internetland everyone knows someone who knows an A-lister.

Well worth reading the Vanity Fair article linked above. I’d believe the story more if the purported “beard” was also a Scientologist.

Why on earth would anyone want to hide the fact they are gay these days?

I find him so utterly creepy. Like a lizard got it’s one true wish to be a real man, and even though it’s walking around in its new man suit it’s still a lizard with no concept of human behaviour.

Exactly this. He’s so fake, nothing he says or does comes across as genuine.

He's on holiday in Cornwall at the moment,on his yacht.

Watch Top Gun again with that in mind and you can really see it. Plus his love scenes with Nicole Kidman in Eyes Wide Shut were famously unconvincing - this was well know on set and shared widely. And she was well known to be a lesbian in Australia before moving to Hollywood. Their marriage ended after exactly 10 years (ie subject to contract terms - she be a beard for him and he'd make her career)... I could go on.

He has demon lawyers and is quick to close down and threaten any media who sniff around the subject. Total control freak and weirdo. It will all come out after his death.

I have a complete irrational dislike of this man. I can't stand him, can't stand his face. Can't watch any films with him in.

My sister was at the War of the Worlds premiere (the one where he was pranked by the TV show Balls of Steel). She was asked if she wanted to meet him. She was on her phone to our brother who is a fan as he was making his way up the line of fans. As he got closer and people started to get closer and more rowdy and the phone was knocked from her hand. Tom picked it up and started to speak in to it. He then told her no one was there and handed it back. Later on she found out our brother hung up as he thought someone was taking the piss. He didn't even know it was Tom Cruise. I'm not overly keen on him but thought the squirty microphone prank was horrible, I mean it could have easily been piss or worse
