Genuinely interested in what people think of him and his presidency thus far. It’s a truth universally acknowledged that Trump was considered lower than a worm’s privates on Mumsnet but there seems to be little or no excitement about JB, is he really that meh?

No he didn't, he's always been well known as making gaffes, directly related to his stammer. It's partly why it doesn't get called out so much, it's baked into his persona and how people think about him.

DetMcNulty · 24/07/2021 07:55

And if you ever read a transcript of trump speaking, that shows far greater cognitive decline. I'm interested in what policies people believe Trump actually achieved, the Wall? Failed at getting Obama care repealed (a good thing), promised a new healthcare plan which never xame, tax cuts that have added $2trillion to debt. Judges maybe?

Making gaffes is one thing. But his verbal skills have declined greatly. Maybe you didn’t follow his career closely but I have and I can tell you he used to be a very sharp, charismatic speaker, with th occasional hilarious gaffe. Watch his debates with Paul Ryan and it’s like night and day

Ok but we aren’t talking about Trump anymore. I’m comparing current Biden to even ten years ago Biden.

You can’t deflect with ‘But Trump!!?!’

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 24/07/2021 08:03

@Megasausagehead

This reads like a Trump love thread.

Really disconcerting from an outside view, given his lies and denial of the election results, nevermind all of the corruption. He caused significant civil unrest and to be blatant, the entire world pretty much lost all respect for America.

Didn't Trump close down the international pandemic response team a few months prior to covid? Oh and his record on covid was great yeah? If you look at the actual facts, not his false claims.

Wow.

My cat would be less dangerous than that man.

This is a really dangerous position to take.

Being critical of Biden does not equal support of Trump.

When you think in this tribalist way, you reduce your president to having to be the lesser of two evils rather than the best and more appropriate person for the job. It means people are stuck with a sub-par person doing one of the most important jobs in the world.

We should be demanding more from our leaders than just “don’t be Trump”

FightingtheFoo · 24/07/2021 08:06

@Cazzovuoi

He’s helped erase women’s sports in the US and puts men’s feelings above the safety of women and girls.

Tells me all I need to know Angry

This.

He's a damp squib.

He's just getting an easy ride because the US media lost their minds during Trump.

There was a CNN reporter actually asking press sec Jen Psaki "what myths would you like to dispel?" in an interview the other day. If the questions had been any softer they'd have been jelly.

DetMcNulty · 24/07/2021 08:10

But I've already talked about his policies around infrastructure and families, these are objectively good things, and have bipartisan support, if these get through then they will be positive and absolutely what a President should do. The covid vaccination has been a great success, what do you actually think he should be doing?

ragged · 24/07/2021 08:24

Never wrestle with a pig, you both get dirty and the pig likes it.

That's a slur on pigs... but in that metafor, Trump was the pig. I dunno why his mud slinging was so effective. He literally accused all his rivals of crazy shit he himself did. Trumpistas decided they liked Trump's feisty style & the dirt only stuck to Trump's rivals - in their eyes.

Anyway, the thing about Biden being known, the dirt had a lot harder time sticking. Trump's campaign team tried very hard to label Biden a radical socialist. Biden literally laughed at that one -- mud successfully repelled. "Come on man, I'm not a radical socialist, you know me!" was Biden's summary.

So the unjustified slurs on Biden are back to moments when he mis-spoke. Coz #45 was such a role model in how to construct complete sentences in comparison (not). And how to treat women (not). And how to be genuinely pious, or kind, or financially astute (not). Like I said, mud only sticks one way in the eyes of observers.

CounsellorTroi · 24/07/2021 08:31

Trump was so unfit for the office of POTUS and brought it into such disrepute on a daily if not hourly basis, that I do think that for the time being, not being Trump is enough.

If Biden really is the woman hating misogynist he’s being portrayed as here then it was a really cunning master stroke to select a woman as his running mate.

Economic growth.. Operation Warp Speed which Biden has tried to take credit for... International policy was possibly the best of any president ever, at least in recent times. Brokered multiple peace deals, first modern president with no new wars, handled Iran like a diplomatic genius, handled Kim in north Korea like a diplomatic genius, restored talks between north and south Korea...

I'm not a fan of Trump.. like I said before he failed horribly when it came to communication and image and he socially destroyed the USA... like I said gave rise to both white supremacists and BLM which are both destroying the USA and spreading globally. But his policy was amazing. Only a political opponent or completely ignorant person would say otherwise.

The border policies were effective , the worst crime against humanity are now being committed. The fact that trump didn't start any wars in the middle East, Obama started 7 . Obama care didn't work , read into it . Trump lowered the cost of drugs. You won't believe me until you start researching this stuff for yourself. Bush, Obama, Biden, Clinton's are some of the worse human beings to walk this planet. If you ever wanted to look into it , I started with the Clinton's, and how the Biden family got rich, it started from there....there are some books on amazon about hillary clinton if you were ver interested. Also Sidney Powell, lin Wood, Mike liddell, they are fighting the election fraud. The evidence is significant, its just not being reported on. One last thing, Biden isn't running the Whitehouse, American is now run by corportations and the deep state.
Naunet · 24/07/2021 08:42

Just another misogynistic pig, same as it ever was 🤷‍♀️

Spudina · 24/07/2021 08:56

Trump was a disaster for the environment. He repealed some Obama era protections for air and water ( though Obama fucked up Flint which was awful) He wanted methane levels to be unchecked and to drill in the Artic. He was essentially a con artist. The rich benefited from his tax policies whilst American debt went sky high. He let COVID kill millions whilst spouting on about drinking bleach. That’s without the sexual allegations. Biden’s first acts have been to stop a lot of Trumps bad policies and I get the impression that he has been more progressive than expected. His COVID response is excellent. He only has to steady the ship for four years and hopefully the Democrats can line up a credible alternative next time. I’m appalled to think Trump might actually get back in.

Agreed!
DetMcNulty · 24/07/2021 09:02

Economic growth was better under Obama, he just followed the trend, then kept it going with tax cuts that blew out the debt. Wow, warp speed, yeah bet nobody else would possibly have though of a vaccine. They also wouldn't have fucked up all other health measure, undermined the scientists, politicised basic health mitigations like masks and down played risks. Might have had a plan for rolling out the vaccine too.

The rest sounds like qanon nonsense.

DetMcNulty · 24/07/2021 09:05

And agreed, Trump was indeed a nightmare for the environment, and we will have no chance of fighting climate change if he gets back in, or probably any of the Republican candidates.

What do you think about fauci and the evidence that now suggests that he knew the virus came from the lab , and that his department had funded gain of function research ? Don't you think its strange that he hasn't been fired , he should be in prison? You care about the environment quite rightly , btmut did you know trump withdrew form.the climate accord because it was paying China millions but China was not meeting its obligations and no action was ever taken ? Why has Biden now allowed russia to build the gas pipeline in Europe, trump stopped it. The comment about bleach was a joke , and actually in referene to hydrochloride a known effective drug to deal with covid

If you haven't researched this you wouldn't believe it , why would you. Thats fair enough. Its a journey I have been on ....i would urge you to for onto duck duck go and look at Mike liddell, also newsmax and the audit arizona.
pointythings · 24/07/2021 09:25

Newsmax, that independent output. Mike Lidell, that not at all biased person. The Arizona audit, being not at all carried out by a Trump donor. Bless.

He has allowed male bodied prisoners to transfer to women's prisons with highly predictable results.

Why do you feel the need to try and belittle someone with a different opinion to you- bless What is that about ? Mike liddell has lost millions and millions pursuing this , did you know that ? He has been dropped by pretty much all of the retailers that stocked his products. His life has been threatened. Has this stopped him - no ! If you don't want to believe it that's fine, if you don't want to do your own independent research and apply critical thinking, thats up to you . However I would appreciate if you can so a fellow human being with a difference of opinion some respect and not belittle my opinion.

Biden sexually assaulted a woman. Even Kamala called him out on it. But I guess everybody forgot 😖
