Genuinely interested in what people think of him and his presidency thus far. It’s a truth universally acknowledged that Trump was considered lower than a worm’s privates on Mumsnet but there seems to be little or no excitement about JB, is he really that meh?

Okey dokey.

334bu · 24/07/2021 17:59

The claims of sexual assault against Biden were debunked. You cannot draw an equivalency between him and Trump.

His policies are putting female prisoners in daily danger of sexual assault. Do they not count?

NannyAndJohn · 24/07/2021 18:02

He's almost 80 and still doesn't know what a woman is.

He needs to go.

NiceGerbil · 24/07/2021 18:02

The videos of him scream creepy.

UsedUpUsername · 24/07/2021 18:21

@Classica

Even all the muttering that Trump planned to roll back abortion rights - it never happened. He never even tried.

Planned Parenthood might beg to differ?

GOP politicians in general have no interest in rolling back Roe vs Wade. Only the base wants it and believes it will happen if they keep voting for Republicans (also great issue for them to fundraise on).

It’s kind of sad they believe it’s gonna happen. It’s not going to happen.

Lmao.

Believe all women. Except that one!

Please, she was more legit than the Kavanaugh accuser.

Wonder why we don’t hear anything much about #Metoo or #Believeallwomen anymore.

I guess it became politically untenable when Biden won the primary. Sad.

Yeah, they're incredibly well edited.
NannyAndJohn · 24/07/2021 18:26

It's come to the point where I'd actually be voting Republican if I were American.

A shit party that knows what a woman is vs a shit party that doesn't.

Classica · 24/07/2021 18:29

they don't need to get rid of Roe v Wade when each GOP state can just gut abortion access from within. That should be obvious to even the most casual of observers. Introduction of foetal heartbeat bill etc. I believe there are six states now that only have one abortion clinic each.

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 24/07/2021 18:32

@pointythings

Women stand no chance, do we?
There’ll always be an easier excuse.

Yes the Republican party certainly knows what a woman is. A useful tool to aid their evangelical agenda. The GOP would be nothing without their women folk agreeing that women shouldn't have abortion access. Or girls shouldn't be given HPV vaccines. Or children shouldn't have sex education in schools/.

When I was little and told my mum that my grandad (a handsome, charismatic man who women loved but was very “touchy feely”much like Biden) had sexually assaulted me, she and my grandmother decided I must have dreamt it. Their world continued without disruption.

Dreamt it, good editing, good lawyers to devalue a woman’s account…
It’s all the same thing. It’s much more palatable than holding abusers to account.

SirVixofVixHall · 24/07/2021 18:38

@Cazzovuoi

He’s helped erase women’s sports in the US and puts men’s feelings above the safety of women and girls.

Tells me all I need to know Angry

Me too. I also think there is something up with him health wise, his face is odd. I think he is too elderly for this job.
NannyAndJohn · 24/07/2021 19:15

To be fair, @Classica, they had their opportunity to act on those issues under Trump but they didn't.

UsedUpUsername · 24/07/2021 19:17

Yeah, they're incredibly well edited

You can see the entire 40 minute session without edits and it’s still fucking creepy. Imagine having him paw at you on camera and everyone dismissing it because it was basically politically inconvenient.

Here’s a 40-min raw video of it for anyone interested: m.youtube.com/watch?v=osL1u3dJsos

🤮🤮🤮

Classica · 24/07/2021 19:17

Except they did. Read up on how access to abortion has been rolled back during Trump's tenure in GOP states.

NumberTheory · 24/07/2021 19:40

Biden has made executive orders that are bad for women in terms of ignoring the role of biological sex in the oppression of women as a class, but he is also moving to replace Trump’s regulations around sexual assault investigations/tribunals on university campuses that are bad for women’s safety. He’s moving to repeal Trump’s title X gag rule which haIs restricted lower income women’s access to contraception and abortion. He pretty much immediately repealed Trump’s executive order implementing an abortion gag rule on international providers who received federal funds. In general his record on women’s rights, especially VAGW is really good. And his push to increase childcare availability will have an incredibly positive impact on lower income women, especially. The trans issue is a big issue, but it’s not the only one and Trump’s position on it was not particularly intended to improve women’s lives, just to signal to the right that he was on their side. His appointments to the federal courts will, overall, likely have a detrimental impact on women’s lives for decades to come.

Planned Parenthood has forgotten what a woman is.
Thelnebriati · 24/07/2021 21:09

Women's prisons are being made mixed sex, affecting female inmates and staff.
In the US, penis in vagina sex is automatically considered rape. This would be illegal under the Geneva Convention if they were female prisoners of war.

This is not a stutter but confusion.

A stutter is a speech impediment. It doesn’t mean you forget your defence secretary’s name or confuse two completely different countries

My concern is that a Republican administration harms women who want an abortion, whereas a Democratic administration (indeed the current one) harms all women.

And I can't seem to find a single mainstream Democratic politician who isn't full on TWAW.

NumberTheory · 25/07/2021 02:14

Republican attacks on reproductive health don't just harm women who want abortions, they increase health care costs and risks for all women.

FadoFado · 25/07/2021 02:36

My concern is that a Republican administration harms women who want an abortion, whereas a Democratic administration (indeed the current one) harms all women.

I'd consider myself fairly GC but this attitude ^^ that dismisses any women's issues that aren't trans related chills me to my fucking bones.

'Oh you live in Arkansas where abortion is only allowed if your life is in danger, even if you're pregnant as a result of rape/incest? Gee, that's too bad.'

So many states have had abortion access chipped away at, but who gives a fuck, hey?

NiceGerbil · 25/07/2021 02:38

Not caught up.

I've not seen democrat presidents changing much though with abortion.

I'm not an expert obv.

States control abortion laws, it's not a federal thing. And as it stands Republican states are gradually chipping away at women's rights to abortion access. But people on MN don't care because it's not a trans thing.
