Joe Biden

Genuinely interested in what people think of him and his presidency thus far. It’s a truth universally acknowledged that Trump was considered lower than a worm’s privates on Mumsnet but there seems to be little or no excitement about JB, is he really that meh?

Well, the question was never “is Biden a paedophile?” For a start. So you’re attempting to disprove an assertion I, nor anyone on this thread, has made.

Secondly, the links for the photos don’t work

Joe Biden
pointythings · 29/07/2021 19:42

It's one of the things that have been thrown at Biden on this thread a few posts up. Don't be disingenuous.

So the links to the photos don't work? Do some of your own Googling then - but you don't want to.

And just as those accusations have been supported by doctored images, so have the accusations around his cognition been. A smear is a smear is a smear.

Proudboomer · 29/07/2021 19:58

If Biden Truly Is not in cognitive decline why won’t he take a test? Even
Ex White House doctor Ronnie Jackson has called for him to take a cognitive test by Biden just laughter it off with why should he.
And the answer to that is it would answer the question once and for all if he is in a fit mental state to be president
Even Trump took the test when called to do so so what makes Biden get a free pass?

pointythings · 29/07/2021 20:04

Proudboomer where do we stop then? I mean, Obama had to prove he was American. Can we just let presidents get on with the job? As far as I'm concerned Trump didn't have to take the test, he just had to stop being a twat.

The tests by the way say very little. To say anything, they would have to come with brain scans, be repeated at regular intervals - in short, be massively intrusive and feed the beast of publicity.

As for Ronny Jackson - look him up and see why he isn't particularly credible.

CommanderBurnham · 29/07/2021 20:08

He's basically the boring antidote to Trump.

He seems to be ineffective in doing the right things whereas Trump was very effective at doing nasty things.

Although I've not been following US politics recently.

Wigalish · 29/07/2021 20:34

On a completely personal note, I'm so happy Trump is out and he has less of a podium to spout his hatred. My dm became a Trump supporter (even though she had never paid much attention to American politics, or any tbf). The things she used to come off with (Trumpisms) has thankfully died down as it was really worrying for us as a family.

Biden, from what I've seen (not seen) is not getting the same press in the UK that Trump did so I can't really comment on how his presidency is going.

daisycottage · 29/07/2021 20:44

Look at the discomfort in her body language.

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 29/07/2021 20:47

Poor girl.

Imagine the pressure to be nice. To smile and allow it.

daisycottage · 29/07/2021 20:48

He's an utter creep.

UserNames here, have this one on me:

Take particular notice of the second to last paragraph.

Bet you won't.

Sorry but the fact checkers are proven liars !!! I wouldn't take that as any proof
borntobequiet · 29/07/2021 20:58

Even Trump took the test

And didn’t he then say it proved he was the sanest person ever?

borntobequiet · 29/07/2021 20:59

Sorry but the fact checkers are proven liars !!!

Well there you go, I suppose.

GreatAuntEmily · 29/07/2021 21:00

From Wiki
However, individual states can regulate/limit the use of abortion or create "trigger laws", which would make abortion illegal within the first and second trimesters if Roe were overturned by the US Supreme Court. Currently, 6 states have trigger laws and 3 other states have laws intending to criminalize abortion.

That kindly old Irish American Catholic - anti abortion and pro trans - both get a lot of support in the US.

Truthseeker34 believes the election was stolen. She believes NewsMax is an unbiased source of information. She believes the Arizona audit is being conducted by an impartial organisation. She believes Mike Lindell is a plausible source of information on the stolen election.

Make of that what you will.

What would you take as proof?

Proudboomer · 29/07/2021 21:39

@pointythings

But with so much talk it would be a very simple matter to take the test. Why wouldn’t he want to be able to say I took the same test as Trump and passed with flying colours after all Trump did wave his passing of the test up in the face of everyone who said his mad rants were because of his mental health and therefore he wasn’t fit to be president.

And I ant see your problem with Ronnie Jackson. Yes he was the white house doctor for Trump but he was also the White House doctor for Obama. He is a doctor not a politician and managed to do his job for whoever was in office at the time.

pointythings · 29/07/2021 21:44

He is a doctor not a politician and managed to do his job for whoever was in office at the time.

Not very well, if you look him up.

And I think it would be dangerous for Biden to undertake any tests. If he passes, it will be said he must have cheated. He can't win, because a section of the public want to believe the worst of him. This despite the fact that he's putting in place some good policies, especially on infrastructure and on COVID. US politics is so polarised there isn't any point in trying to appease the Trump believers. It's a waste of everyone's energy and effort.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 29/07/2021 21:51

...and pointythings has summed up what Biden is good at. He's got a huge amount of experience of politics and the White House, and he's good at knowing when it's worth compromising, and when it's worth standing your ground.

I'm sure there are lots of armchair quarterbacks who could do it better given half a chance, but they won't be.

mathanxiety · 30/07/2021 02:02

The bots are out in force on this thread.

First the birther thing with Obama, then the Q anon movement and the effort to overturn the election, now the wild accusation of senility.

It's all of a piece.

mathanxiety · 30/07/2021 02:07

2) critical of Biden doesn't equal right wing

Criticism of Biden's policies isn't what is happening on this thread.

Parroting the right wing trope about senility is evidence of

  1. lack of critical thinking,
  2. familiarity with right wing sites, and
  3. right wing tendencies.
Nefelibata33 · 30/07/2021 02:35

I wanted anyone but Trump, so when Joe Biden got in, I was delighted. I was a bit concerned that he might be really conservative, but he is so dynamic, undoing all the damage that Trump caused. To give an example, we've seen how hot the weather has been recently, and I believe climate change is real. Trump wanted to appeal to the right wing sorts he knew would vote for him, so he withdrew from the Paris agreement. As soon as Biden got in, he signed up again. Trump was just an ex reality TV idiot, not even a good businessman, his father gave him loads of money, so he has never made his own. Just like the sort of right wing idiots currently destroying this country, he just wanted to appeal to the people who are full of hatred against minority groups, the blacks, Hispanics, any immigrants, gays, transgender people. It was all part of the rising tide of the neo-nazis. Thankfully for the Americans, Biden got in. I wish that the rest of the world could follow that example, but we're probably going to be going downhill for quite a while before it improves at all

Yes you are correct. Thank you for summarising my opinion so well Smile
mathanxiety · 30/07/2021 05:51

@AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken

I found his points easy to follow.

He is not a president who favours short sound bites instead of substance.

If you check what has actually happened since the press conference in the areas he spoke on, you will find that he is making his way through the checklist he outlined that day.

Only this morning my local news reported the setting up of a task force to examine push factors leading to emigration from Central America to the US, and Kamala Harris addressed the issue directly during her visit south of the border a few weeks ago.

One of these is not like the other.

Honestly, are you guys going to do this for the next four years? It must exhausting.

He has gone through an obvious fucking mental decline. There is not enough Adderall in the world to compensate for that 😂

Why don’t you just admit the truth? That you don’t really care, that you would have voted in a braindead schnauzer just to get Trump out.

Just admit it! Joe Biden isn’t as sharp as he used to be and you’re fine with it!

malificent7 · 30/07/2021 07:20

Well he gets my seal of approval for rejoining the Paris agreement abd putting climate change back on the agenda.
