At 14 YANBU.

DrHWeasley · 22/07/2021 21:24

I think it's fine. What about school though?

CatCup · 22/07/2021 21:25

Fine but she'll have likely need to take it out for school.

StMarysKettle · 22/07/2021 21:25

Eh she's old enough to decide jst make sure you take her to a proper piercing place

lannistunut · 22/07/2021 21:25

I think that is fine, if she changes her mind it is just a very small hole, not like a big tattoo or something.

FindingMeno · 22/07/2021 21:26

Fine, but they can be tricky with healing, and depends on school jewellery code.

WeMarchOn · 22/07/2021 21:26

Reason i asked is because my mum went mad at me about it 😂

I'd had my nose, tongue and lip pierced at 14. School was a pain in the arse though. I still have mine in 17 years later

MayflowerMaisie · 22/07/2021 21:28

YANBU if you know that she is the kind of student that would not be a total PITA refusing to take out a piercing that is not part of the dress code.
YABU if you know she’s going to kick up a stink every time a teacher asks her to remove it, while loudly proclaiming “mum says I don’t have to, because it will heal up!”

SupermanWithTheGreyHair · 22/07/2021 21:29

I actually wouldn’t, I think it’s too young as it’s on her face. Someone I know regrets having hers done as it’s left a hole, it’s small but it bothers her.

sunshineandshowers21 · 22/07/2021 21:30

i had my nose pierced at fourteen, but i took it out after a few months because of the faff of constantly having to take it out for school. i also found that it healed up so fast so if i didn’t have the stud in for a day i’d have to shove it back through when i put it in which hurt and meant i constantly had a sore nose. i had my nose re-pierced with a ring a few years ago i love it now.

Aquamarine1029 · 22/07/2021 21:30

No. She can do that when she turns 18 if she still wants to.

OdetoMyFamily · 22/07/2021 21:30

I wouldn't be happy if my DD wanted a nose piercing. Bit skanky IMHO.

MadeOfStarStuff · 22/07/2021 21:31

As long as she will take it out for school without kicking up a fuss and you will support school if she does kick off about it

It’s not permanent, if she hates it she can take it out and it’ll close up

LST · 22/07/2021 21:32

Skanky? Jesus Christ.
aubreyii · 22/07/2021 21:33

Nope. It looks cheap as chips. But I'm a) old fashioned and b) against body mods in general.

MissJeanBrodiesprime · 22/07/2021 21:39

YANBU, what’s the rush? I also think with things like that if she’s not old enough to have it done without her mum’s input and support and be responsible for the cleaning herself then she’s not old enough to have it done at all.

SupermanWithTheGreyHair · 22/07/2021 21:42

I don’t think there’s any need for the nasty comments. Hmm

NameChange74567 · 22/07/2021 21:42

I wouldn't. I got a few face piercings when I was 16 and I hate the holes that are left now.

MissJeanBrodiesprime · 22/07/2021 21:42

Oops sorry YABU allow her.

ScrimShawSeaShore · 22/07/2021 21:43

I think you need to read up and look at what can go wrong, and for her to understand that (eg infection issues). I've got piercings myself, and my nose was the one that got infected a few times and was very sore.

Personally I think 14 is a bit young, but not my daughter so really up to you/her.

Also make sure that it will be done in time to heal before returning to school, or internal isolation could be on the horizon!

parietal · 22/07/2021 21:44

YABU. she can wait until she is 16 at least.

LST · 22/07/2021 21:44

Do you expect anything else from the judgemental arses that like to post on here? Anything to throw an insult at and some posters are there in a flash
Planty13 · 22/07/2021 21:44

It’s fine. Get a retainer to go in once school is back on.

Kanaloa · 22/07/2021 21:45

I think it’s fine, as long as you think she’s generally responsibly and will clean it and take it out during school if it isn’t allowed.
