It doesn't look good at all as a teenager. I'm sorry. It doesn't. But everyone is entitled to their opinion. If you liked it then- that's fine.

You’re presenting your opinion as fact. You can’t say ‘it doesn’t look good’, just because you don’t ‘think’ it looks good. Some people think it looks good, that’s why they have it done. Who cares, piercings for not define a person.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 23/07/2021 14:58

I wouldn't let her get it done at 14. Anything that's not allowed for school should wait until she's left school.

MorganKitten · 23/07/2021 15:03

I would let her, but at a place that uses a needle not a gun. Also if she gets bored of it, it’s the quickest to reheal.

toolazytothinkofausername · 23/07/2021 15:12

Has she already worn magnetic nose/septum piercing?

househousehousefox · 23/07/2021 19:19

You can get clear balls that look like zits for school. I had loads and never got busted

LST · 23/07/2021 21:35

@secular39 how dare you make judgements on my family? You are one nasty (wrong) piece of work.

WeMarchOn · 23/07/2021 22:06

Fuck sake i asked a simple question, why are people being down right nasty towards each other?

OP posts:
BamberGascoine · 23/07/2021 22:12

@secular39 I can assure from working with this age group everyday they most certainly can and do have their own style. Even in a school with a strict uniform there are definitely identifiable styles. I’m not saying they will keep those styles forever but I don’t think adults necessarily do either 🤷🏼‍♀️

CustardySergeant · 23/07/2021 22:28

@Pantene23

Sure, go for it. My 12 year old DD is having her upper ear pierced and belly button pierced next week.
I think 12 is very young for that, I'm surprised they do them at 12 years old. Mind you I haven't even got pierced ears.
CatsArePeople · 23/07/2021 22:29

show her this thread Grin

seven201 · 23/07/2021 23:30

I stillhave quite a noticeable hole from where mine was 20 years later, so I'd say no at 14. I think I was 17 when I got mine done.

DojoWojo · 24/07/2021 00:04

Nice to see the casual racism alive and well on MN as usual!
Skanky, cheap, tacky etc. to describe a piercing that is traditional for "brown" people. Nice.

Feelingbad2 · 24/07/2021 00:13

Not at 14. 16 would be ok.

I’m 34 and had mine done about 4 years ago. It took quite a long time to heal, I kept getting bumps on it and it was painful and didn’t look very nice.

I’ve just laughed out loud 😆👍🏻 My daughter is 11 and she had her ears pierced when she was about 9 months old and never felt a thing as both ears were pierced at the same time. It was nothing to do with religion as I’m white British and had mine done when I was that age . But I’m not keen on nose piercings if I’m being honest and especially when they are still in school/college

How would doing them both at the same time mean she didn't feel anything? Very different a 14 year old asking for a piercing than inflicting pain on a baby. I definitely judge people who pierce their baby’s ears.

Keep your stupid hillbilly comment to yourself as you don’t know what your talking about . My daughter has never suffered any pain and has just been accepted to one of the Best secondary schools in London. , and she wore her earrings for her audition and is happy that I had them pierced when she was a baby.
DojoWojo · 24/07/2021 00:52

@avamiah

Nothing wrong with not being keen on something. A lot of people have just responded with "wait until 16/18" or "not a good idea because of school" or "I don't like it personally". Absolutely nothing wrong with those types of comments. I'm sure there's hundreds of cultural traditions around the world I wouldn't do myself or let my children do.

But I know I certainly wouldn't make nasty judgemental comments like the PPs mentioned.

(Just because this is MN and there is always someone picking apart your comments, obviously abusive traditions practices like FGM excluded)

What??? Why are you telling me about secondary schools and auditions....🤪

🍷 🍸 🍹 Enjoy. Wink

Mockolate · 24/07/2021 01:28

I've had a nose piercing (I was older though lol) and I have a 14 year old.
YABU, I'd say wait until she''d left school.
Schools can be pains in the arses about things like that.
