You're right, TooBig. He is massively over-indulged. Again, probably due to the respect in which his father is held in journalism. If he was Mr Bloggs son he'd have had his behaviour adjusted for him many years ago. Spoilt brat.

I remember the days when therapists made thousands from counselling people about their stomach ulcers 'stress, you know, you must learn to relax. You've only been attending here for 6 months, you'll need many more sessions to make a difference.' Wrong, caused by an infection, effective medicine invented, ulcers consigned to history, loss of huge income stream. And impotence. 'Psychological, stress, you must learn to relax . . . You will need lots more sessions.' Someone invented Viagra. Another therapy income stream down the drain. My point being that therapy can be a bit hit and miss. If someone's in long term therapy and not improving then it's definitely time to replace your therapist and seek a better solution. They're not magicians.

Agree with this! Some of my most err how shall I put this politely COMPLEX friends are psychotherapists - and I definitely wouldn't pay them for advice.

My guess is his therapy just gives his narcisissm room to breathe.

Giles Coren is not the victim here and I am at the number of posts defending him and deflecting on this thread.

Dawn Foster's friends and family are the victims of his poisonous mind, fragile ego and untouchability. Turns out they're not the only ones. Other victims have been Jewish and Polish people. Fat people. The way he writes about his children is gross. He thinks its justified to falsely accuse people of paedophilia. And that his awful revenge rape threat fantasies are funny.

He is a nasty fucker but he is feted and protected. A mediocre, middle aged man in media who falls under the category If I've heard from your da, I dont need to hear from you.

Dawn Foster was a talented, actual journalist who got jobs on her own merit.❤

Just very boring. I thought I’d love a bit of time separately from my family but it’s actually very tricky to avoid them in the house and I’m in the basement, which feels a bit like I’ve been sent down to a dungeon. I also think I might actually have Covid despite being double vaccinated as I have a few symptoms and was in close contact with someone who tested positive. I’m waiting for a PCR test result as I’ve got symptoms. I’m finding MN and Tattle very entertaining though. Thanks guys! 🙏

No. No one on Tattle is suggesting that Giles is the victim in this situation, or complaining that it’s not very nice to be “heightist” (?) or to suggest that Giles has a small willy.

On Tattle, they’re all complaining to the BBC and suggesting starting a petition.

A petition (to whom? For what?) would simply play into his 'poor me, look how my family and I are being persecuted' hands and provide food for immense amounts of copy from both Mr and Mrs Coren. I’m not saying that I’m standing up for “those disenfranchised by poverty who can’t speak for themselves”, but that Dawn Foster did and that I think that was admirable. As a woman, I would like to think that I am standing up for someone who fought for other people and who has been unfairly criticised by Giles Coren but can no longer speak for herself because she is dead.

Of course I don’t want to cancel babycinos or STAHMs. I just don’t don’t really want to discuss the preferred milky drinks of middle class toddlers. I’d rather discuss Giles Coren and the fact that you think he is “a nice person after all” even though he has gloated over a woman’s premature death and exacerbated her mother’s grief. Just out of interest, what would constitute “a nasty person” in your book?

(I’m also really bored and currently isolating from my family as I have Covid so I don’t have much to do apart from being the Robin Hood/Mother Theresa of Mumsnet).

Owen Jones has just put a video on Twitter about Giles Coren’s Dawn Foster tweets. He has 1 million followers on Twitter and they are very angry and activist, exactly the sort of people who might look up Giles’ address on Companies House and write stuff on the wall outside his house.

Some of Owen Jones's followers have already in the past turned up outside Giles Coren's house when he was away and his wife and kids were in. Owen Jones declined to condemn them, despite having been very vocal about his own experience at the sharp end of a bunch of thugs previously. While I obviously abhor Coren's conduct about Dawn Foster, Owen Jones is IMO a fucking hypocrite and a fairly nasty piece of work.

Jones is just as bad. I feel very sorry for Coren’s wife and kids.

No. I just find social media interesting and I have Covid so I’m in quarantine and have a lot of time on my hands. And Google is a gold mine as far as Giles Coren is concerned. I also live nearby but on the other side of K Town, more Belsize Park. Never met him though.
