… to ask why Giles Coren hasn’t been cancelled yet?

The vile Dawn Foster tweets ffs. But he seems Teflon coated. He will never be cancelled. Three fucking columns a week … a pissing radio show, albeit on Times Radio, which surely no one listens to. I would love to be proved wrong. Absolutely love to be.

What does the thread has stopped appearing in Active mean? I’m new to MN. I joined because I have to self isolate. I previously was sceptical and thought it was just a bunch of stay at home mums talking about Buggaboo plans and their DS and DD (vom) drinking babycinos. But this thread has been a riot and some people have had really interesting perspectives.

DYING.

Piglet89 · 25/07/2021 18:20

Average standard of spelling and grammar on here tells you how educated the sorority is @RaquelOak

Highly educated, on the whole. There’ll be some stay at home mothers on here, of course (not that choosing not to work outside the home means you’ve relinquished all brain power) but it’s a real mix of people - many of whom don’t, in fact, have kids at all.

Ah well this Why don’t you move on to another thread? You could chat about your DCs. makes rather more sense. Haven’t had a Bugaboo for years.

Active means Active Conversations. It’s the board showing the most recently active threads. AIBU and Chat are also popular boards. I’d stay away from Baby Names Confused it’s mainly batshit class warfare via names and Relationships - depressing.

Wow. How fucking lovely off you - and yeah, the suggestion to go off and talk about your DCs or whatever makes more sense now. Btw, my DD loves babycinos, and I now have a desire to post about it in great detail just to piss you off

DaVinyl · 25/07/2021 19:18

@mustlovegin

Raquel don't you think you've stirred up enough muck?
The 'muck' is of his own making and it's a public service that *@RaquelOak* is providing here with her googling and pasting. It's making it much easier for me access the evidence of GC's vileness.
mustlovegin · 25/07/2021 19:26

You do sound very invested

Very strange indeed. She won't let go. I wonder why

What a snotty post.

You can be educated and be a SAHM too. Being uneducated doesn't mean you are stupid, there are many reasons why people have not had proper access to education. I also know a lot of 'educated' people that aren't smart and have been lucky enough to have been 'given' an education because their families were able to pay for it.

Piglet89 · 25/07/2021 19:42

@JustCleaningtheBBQ where in my post did I state being highly educated and being a SAHM were mutually exclusive?

But what is generally true is that highly educated women won’t be remotely interested in their kids’ babycinos (or at least, if their kids drink babycinos, they won’t post EXCLUSIVELY about that).

TooBigForMyBoots · 25/07/2021 19:55

Why are you defending the mediocre cunt @mustlovegin?

SimonedeBeauvoirscat · 25/07/2021 20:17

Given GC’s history of using sock puppets, I can only assume he is among us. Hi GC! Have you tried therapy? I honestly believe it would help you if you could learn to admit your emotions. It’s ok, a lot of people feel like that. You don’t have to deal with it this way.

Taliskerskye · 25/07/2021 20:52

I’m sure he’s noticed this. I like his sister more. HTH

Eggshausted · 25/07/2021 20:59

That hotel series was such a good format, and Monica is entertaining, but I had to switch it off; he is so arrogant and up his own arse. And talentless.

CassandrasCastle · 25/07/2021 20:59

I'm interested in my kid's babycinos, and you're right - I'm incredibly stupid.

TooBigForMyBoots · 25/07/2021 21:44

While it would be reasonable to think that @SimonedeBeauvoirscat, GC grooms "useful idiots" to take the heat off and argue with people who criticise him. Poor, sad saps in thrall to his celebrity.Sad

In other news, I was chatting with some lovely Times readers today who were disgusted and very angry when I told them what he had written about Dawn Foster. I'm sure they'll spread the word.😇

I don’t think there’s a conspiracy. There are a lot of threads being posted on at any one time. Quite possible 100 people have hit post in the seconds after you.
TooBigForMyBoots · 25/07/2021 23:07

No, it's not that. I've taken screen shots. Apparently it's been happening on Weight Loss threads too. I've posted on the thread in Site Stuff.Confused

longwayoff · 26/07/2021 07:25

Taking a guess, I would say there's not enough activity on here to generate whatever is needed for it to appear in Active. In my experience, this is an everyday happening and happens when a thread descends into a couple of people having a scrap that diverts from the original question and drives away other participants.

Piglet89 · 26/07/2021 08:33

Agree with @longwayoff

It isn’t really active, so why would it appear there?

RaquelOak · 26/07/2021 09:36

@CassandrasCastle

You won’t annoy me at all my discussing your daughter drinking babycinos. I’m just saying that I’m not interested in joining in online discussions about that sort of thing, but I have really enjoyed discussing Giles Coren’s Tweets and I’ve found some of your perspectives really interesting, which I didn’t really expect from Mumsnet. I was a sceptic and now I am a convert. So, thank you ladies (I assume everyone is female, but maybe there are a few men).

FadoFado · 26/07/2021 10:25

I’ve found some of your perspectives really interesting, which I didn’t really expect from Mumsnet.

Why not? Is that some sort of internalised sexism?

I don't think I've ever seen a discussion about babycinos on Mumsnet. People have the weirdest ideas about what sorts of conversations go on here.

TooBigForMyBoots · 26/07/2021 10:47

I've been on MN for a long time. I didn't know that happened @longwayoff.Shock

longwayoff · 26/07/2021 10:56

I'm just guessing. Seems logical though.

RaquelOak · 26/07/2021 11:05

@FadoFado

I guess all I knew about MN was from the press reporting about penis beakers, which stereotypes all MNetters as women who have nothing better to do talking about which names are posh/chavvy. And I find the DC/DS/DD acronyms nauseating.

I’d never participated in a MN discussion until now though. My friend recommended it when I told her I had to isolate for 7 days. And it’s been really entertaining. So, I guess I’m saying I misjudged MN. I think it’s great!
