Is this dress OK for my partner's mum to wear to my wedding (mother of the groom)? I just see a long white dress:

Yes I think it's fine, it's hardly going to be confused with a wedding dress.

DrFoxtrot · 20/05/2021 21:39

I think that's fine, if she's accessorising with coloured, probably yellow, shoes hat etc.

Eileen101 · 20/05/2021 21:40

I wouldn't have given it a second thought. It's clearly not a wedding dress or anything close!

Oldraver · 20/05/2021 21:40

Mmm, it's a lovely dress and I dont see 'long white dress' at all

Though if I were her and thought that you didnt like it I wouldn't wear it

Coolerthanapolarbearstoenails · 20/05/2021 21:41

It's not bridal at all!

I'd wear it as a guest.

MamaWeasel · 20/05/2021 21:41

Yes, of course it is!

User72651 · 20/05/2021 21:41

I was just concerned that would be a lot of white in photos especially as the bridesmaid dresses are very similar

MarshmallowAra · 20/05/2021 21:41

It's a yellow & black floral pattern on white background dress (?!!)

UnFringed · 20/05/2021 21:42

It’s lovely and not in any way upstaging the bride.

Are you going to be THAT kind of daughter in law?...

Catflapkitkat · 20/05/2021 21:42

It's a lovely dress

There's no need to be rude, I was just asking what people thought. Or are you THAT kind of poster Wink

Its not a long white dress?? Clearly has yellow which can be accezorized with more yellow!!

Is there a back story?

user1592512579 · 20/05/2021 21:43

I dont see long white dress when I look at it. I think it's fine for her to wear.

YourSexNotGenderIsOnFire · 20/05/2021 21:43

I think it's a bit too white tbh. I wouldn't wear it to a wedding.

RampantIvy · 20/05/2021 21:43

It looks nothing like a wedding dress. I don't understand why you think you might feel upstaged by a perfectly nice dress suitable for a wedding guest.

Palavah · 20/05/2021 21:43

If I were advising her I'd suggest she makes sure she has emphatically non-white accessories - black or yellow hat, bag, shoes. No flowers or jewelled slide or anything like that.

However, it's your wedding and given that you're asking I'm guessing you're not totally happy with it? If that's the case then say you'd rather she didn't.

Disfordarkchocolate · 20/05/2021 21:44

I think it's fine. I'm assuming she's not going with white accessories.

StoneofDestiny · 20/05/2021 21:45

It's very suitable.
It's nice to have some form of coordination in group pictures anyway.
It's very far removed from bridal wear.

Nataliafalka · 20/05/2021 21:45

It’s totally fine. Nobody is going to mistake her for the bride

HappyTimeTunnelDinosaur · 20/05/2021 21:46

I think it's too white personally.

User72651 · 20/05/2021 21:46

Thanks for your thoughts - I'm aware people won't mistake her for me nor am I concerned about being upstaged. Just thinking more of photos and etiquette. Thank you!

I don’t like the dress, but there I absolutely nothing wrong with wearing it to a wedding. It is not remotely bridal.

Hadjab · 20/05/2021 21:47

It’s perfectly fine.

Triphazard101 · 20/05/2021 21:47

I see it as floral dress that happens to have a white background?
I thought it was going to be a prom style or bridesmaid dress....
