Would I be unreasonable to leave it out there til the morning?

The soft rain or dew is free conditioner I leave it out until it dries sometimes for days

Neonprint · 13/05/2021 21:42

If the forecast was warm for the morning I would. Even if it can feel quite damp first thing then it will be dry by lunch. Only if its warm though.

I do also wonder why spiders only get their willows out at night to wipe on yuur washing and not during the day?!

DeathMetalMum · 13/05/2021 21:52

If it's dry at night I leave or shock horror even put mine out deliberately. I often put washing out at night and replace it with another load the following morning.

It dries far better out than on an airer, especially at this time of year when there's no heating on all the time.

I adore everything about this thread Grin

marton4710 · 14/05/2021 01:44

What is darked on? Not heard that expression before

Broonzma · 14/05/2021 01:57

I live in Australia, and frequently leave the washing out overnight as once the sun goes down, it tens to get a bit damp again anyway.
I also get bitten if i go outside in the dark to bring washing in.
I have noticed, though, that if washing gets left out for a few days, something will lay eggs on it.

ginandvomit · 14/05/2021 02:39

Where I live our spiders (and spider willies) are supersized! Also have to contend with other cheeky nightlife who get access to our smalls and delicates hanging in the breeze including possums. Despite that our washing regularly gets darked on. I don't give a toss what my neighbours think either.

Definately · 14/05/2021 03:09

@viques

If the OP is in the North the situation is complicated by reports that the Northern Lights might be visible tonight. I shudder to think what the combination of Northern Light activity, spider dicks and dark exposure could do to washing.

Would anyone risk it? I don’t think I would.

This sounds like the beginning of a Marvel film. Maybe OP would wake up with superpowers after putting on her Northern Lighted Spider Willied Darked on t shirt.

Harmonypuss · 14/05/2021 05:22

@Twatterati

If you're appalled about someone never opening their bedroom curtains what about the fact that I never close mine?

Mypathtriedtokillme · 14/05/2021 05:22

I hang mine out the night before and leave it overnight but then maybe I just like the freshness and extra starch of spider jizz?

Harmonypuss · 14/05/2021 05:29

It's not only the issue of washing being darker on, spider/frog willies/jizz, what about moth pee and fly poo?

I bought my first tumble dryer in 1989 and haven't hung washing indoors or outdoors since, everything goes in the TD because I really don't fancy the bodily fluids of all the nocturnal creatures all over my clean washing (shudders) 🤔

Hang it out in the daytime then, line dried is much, much nicer than tumble dried.

Might just be me.. but I've definitely seen flys and moths out in the day.. along with a shit tonne of other bugs. I'd never use my tumble dryer if the sun is out.
WorkHardPlayHard1 · 14/05/2021 09:55

@ShrikeAttack

I left mine put for two nights recently.

No shame.

Do that regularly! Lol its natural drying so must be healthy!! X
TolkiensFallow · 15/05/2021 20:14

I think I’m going to hang mine out now! 😁

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 15/05/2021 20:29

Ooh you devil Grin

meemaww · 15/05/2021 21:04

This thread has broken me! 😂😂 darked on?? Spider willies?? Bats and owl poop? .........I’ll never leave my washing out again! Now I’m thinking maybe the foxes might try everything on and look better in my clothes than I do!! 😂😂😂

numberoneson · 16/05/2021 01:31

WTF is "darked on"? I'm totally intrigued.

And no you would defo not be unreasonable to leave it out, I do that a lot of the time; saves a lot of faffing around before having to rehang it next day.

TolkiensFallow · 16/05/2021 03:46

I’ve just let the dog out for a wee at 3am, I saw it all out there getting darked on. Felt all rebellious.

BootsScootsAndToots · 16/05/2021 03:52

I only bring my washing in when there's another load to go out.

I have a really big undercover area so everything goes out there all year round. I don't own a dryer.

I do live in Melbourne so summer is great but our winter is 4+ months and pretty shit.

MyOtherProfile · 16/05/2021 04:37

@Jesusmaryjosephandthecamel

It’ll be more damp in the morning. I would bring it in and stick it on a maiden. It’ll be dry in the morning.
I honestly read that and pictured some kind of old fashioned milk maid draped in darked on washing. That's presumably not what was meant Grin
MyOtherProfile · 16/05/2021 04:40

@80sThrowback

Spiders don't have willies though. Do they?
No way! Poor female spiders Grin
Harmonypuss · 16/05/2021 05:43

@3Britnee @LST

Some people like to hang their washing outside, others prefer to tumble dry, I'm in the latter camp, I've had tumble dryers for almost 33years and wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm going to stick with the TD regardless of the time off day/night/year, weather or other people's preferences.

Washing that is in the TD doesn't get trained on, darker on and definitely doesn't get shirt on by anything walking/flying over it!

3Britnee · 16/05/2021 06:23

I've been here 6 weeks, I've washed everything we own. Nothing has shit on anything yet, or rubbed their willy on it, and it all smells amazing 🤷‍♀️

How do you know nothing has wiped its Willy on your washing? They are quite cunning....
