Spider wiilies Shock
This thread has completely made my week Grin

Motorina · 12/05/2021 21:27

I have just put laundry out. (Very wet laundry, because the washing machine seems to have forgotten how to spin Sad.) I do not fear the darkening!

WestendVBroadway · 12/05/2021 21:27

All you people asking about what darked on means, honestly ! In a minute you will be asking about cutted up pears.

Jesusmaryjosephandthecamel · 12/05/2021 21:28

It’ll be more damp in the morning. I would bring it in and stick it on a maiden. It’ll be dry in the morning.

Beancounter1 · 12/05/2021 21:29

Darked on is an old MN joke: the equivalent of 'rained on', but with dark instead of rain. i.e. - it is dark outside at night.
Nothing like explaining a joke to kill it stone dead

SprayedWithDettol · 12/05/2021 21:29

Well I’m going to have to start a MN spreadsheet. @3Britnee is on it!

Wanders off muttering.

Hankunamatata · 12/05/2021 21:30

Always leave mine overnight (as usually if forgotten about it)

Piglet89 · 12/05/2021 21:30

Sorry I’m an obsessive external laundry drier but what the hell is “darked on”?

BrilliantBetty · 12/05/2021 21:31

I don't because its damp from dew by morning. Plus could get windy or rain overnight.

Piglet89 · 12/05/2021 21:31

Sorry @Beancounter1 should have RTFT

BrilliantBetty · 12/05/2021 21:33

And yes. All those spiders and their willies.

Agirlcalled · 12/05/2021 21:41

@Soubriquet

As long as you don’t mind giving birth to spider babies after the spider willies jizz on your pants
That has made me spit my drink out. Thank you I needed a good laugh

I'd never heard the term before but think it's great (and assumed that was its meaning), still worried about all those spider wiilies though. Grin

I've had the same pair of old curtains in my line for over a week. I really must bring them in...

BathshebaKnickerStickers · 12/05/2021 22:02

IT WILL SMELL OF RAIN.

AND SPIDER SPUNK.

Laiste · 12/05/2021 22:09

Dark and owls.

Holes and owls!

Whatamesssss · 12/05/2021 22:16

@PuppyMonkey

You mustn’t.

I gave up washing lines altogether due to all the faff about rain and the ever present threat of being darked on.

Clothes horse on the landing. Put wet laundry on in the morning. Take it off the next morning. It doesn’t matter about dark when it’s your landing.

*Spare room or utility works just as well as landing.

Oh yes, it is well known that indoor dark does not share the same horror's of the outdoor variety.

Stick it on a maiden GrinGrin (or is this a MN laundry term that I've completely missed)

FlibbertyGiblets · 12/05/2021 22:18

Ugh no thank you to getting laundry darked on and spider willies rubbed all over, shudder.

You who do this, what other unnatural practices do you indulge in? HEFTS BUSOMS

FlibbertyGiblets · 12/05/2021 22:19

MAIDEN STICKING???

Whatamesssss · 12/05/2021 22:23

I don't have a maiden. I have an old maid but I don't think she could stand still until it is 100% dry.

3Britnee · 12/05/2021 22:24

@SprayedWithDettol Why am I on your spreadsheet?!

@viques

If the OP is in the North the situation is complicated by reports that the Northern Lights might be visible tonight. I shudder to think what the combination of Northern Light activity, spider dicks and dark exposure could do to washing.

Would anyone risk it? I don’t think I would.

If there’s not already a Netflix drama based on that, there definitely needs to be! Grin
