Oh aye she looks well frumpy 🙄😂

Tbf I’m struggling to find one that doesn’t either look like this or like one my Nanna would wear.

Stressedout65 · 18/04/2021 17:35

Don't care as long as I'm warm!

speakout · 18/04/2021 17:36

And so???

I don't give a shit.

Foolintherain · 18/04/2021 17:36

Who cares. I don't style my cardis though, I just wear them to keep warm.

NameChangedForThisFeb21 · 18/04/2021 17:37

I think you are right and I avoid them for exactly this reason. I find them ageing and unflattering (disclaimer) on me

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 18/04/2021 17:37

Tbh, as attractive as that model is, the cardigan still looks like it belongs on a nana.

purpleme12 · 18/04/2021 17:40

?? Cardigans don't look frumpy at all
I'm sure you can get frumpy ones, just like you can probably get frumpy anything
But I certainly wouldn't associate frumpy with cardigans!

She looks frumpier in that than she would in most other tops. I would call that frumpy.

I avoid them as I find them frumpy or boring. I only wear them if I’m freezing (though I’d prefer to use a jumper or jacket) or if I’m on holiday in a hot country visiting somewhere like a church or temple where my arms/shoulders would have to be covered and a jacket would be too warm. Again, I’d prefer to use a pashmina but them can be more awkward.

FindingMeno · 18/04/2021 17:43

No, they can look very stylish and bohemian.

No matter how you style them?
What's a good alternative?
BashfulClam · 18/04/2021 17:44

I love a cardi and don’t give a fuck if it looks frumpy. I’d rather be warm.

speakout · 18/04/2021 17:45

What is wrong with "frumpy " OP?

And what does that even mean?

ExitChasedByAnImposter · 18/04/2021 17:48

Is granny chic no longer trendy? I love the way people look dressed like that but I don’t think I can pull it off Blush

Changeychange1 · 18/04/2021 17:49

I looked for some today, but didn’t buy any for the reason you’ve given. I bought jumpers and will just taken them off when it gets too hot Grin

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 18/04/2021 17:50

Literally couldn't care less though Grin

She does though Of course she's young and gorgeous but the cardigan is frumpy
HeadBeeGuy · 18/04/2021 17:52

Don't wear them then. Problem solved.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 18/04/2021 17:53

I think it’s just a jumper with buttons. It doesn’t really register as frumpy or not frumpy with me.

I tend to wear one where I’ve got a top on that I like and don’t want to cover with a jumper, but I’m cold Grin

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 18/04/2021 17:53

Sorry that you don't have the figure for them, OP.... find something else to wear that suits you.

Thenanny23 · 18/04/2021 17:55

I think it depends on the style...I always go for long cardigans like this rather than the type you button up and wear with pearls.

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 18/04/2021 17:56

I don’t think chunky “boyfriend” cardigans necessarily look frumpy, as per pic. Or tiny little bolero styles over a strappy dress.

Most other ones, yes.

ErrolTheDragon · 18/04/2021 17:56

I think the reason people think of cardigans as frumpy is because, yes, they're typically more likely to be worn by women of middle age and up. And the reason for consigning ones lovely jumpers to a drawer and using a cardi is hot flushes. Grin

SmokedDuck · 18/04/2021 17:57

No, that's an odd thing to say.

Very often they look quite classic which is certainly not the same as frumpy.

But they can also look sexy, urban, or just nice. It really depends on the cardigan and how you wear it, and what you wear it with.

DinosaurDigestive · 18/04/2021 17:58

I love my cardies! So many different styles and I have plenty thin ones for the warmer weather and thick ones for winter.

DinosaurDigestive · 18/04/2021 18:00

Long cardies like above are perfect - great with boots - and short sleeved open ones are great for a layer in warm weather
