No matter how you style them?

But when undressing for sex, a button at a time is more sexy than jumper over the head.....

EmeraldShamrock · 18/04/2021 18:02

No. They can dress up an outfit while keeping you warm.

Candycane57 · 18/04/2021 18:02

I look either hippy, frumpy or like a toddler in cardigans. Couldn't give less of a shit if it keeps me warm. I think long cardigans are lovely but my arse sticks out so far I look like the Libra symbol from the side

TheThingsWeAdmitOnMN · 18/04/2021 18:03

Style? I don't style mine, I wear it. Maybe that's where you're going wrong. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Every time I wear this I just feel SO frumpy

@FindingMeno

No, they can look very stylish and bohemian.
Or vintage.

Or nineties.

Or hygge.

Or practical.

Main point is to be warm, though.

emmylousings · 18/04/2021 18:05

I think they can look nice, especially shorter ones with shape that come in at the waist, with pretty little buttons, I think they can be cute, smart and practical, and good for if the top underneath is worth showing. I'm not keen on the long ones, but I'm short so they would bury me.

FlyingBurrito · 18/04/2021 18:05

You're entitled to your opinion, how could you be unreasonable to have whatever view you like on such a non issue.

Unless you are being forced to wear them why does it matter Grin

ImInStealthMode · 18/04/2021 18:05

This one pops up on my newsfeed often and I don't think it looks at all frumpy. It might do on me mind you, not sure I could pull off the leather pants and hat combo.

They didn't look frumpy on Michelle Obama

EmeraldShamrock · 18/04/2021 18:09

My cardigan/coat would blow your mind OP.
It is bohemian with earthy colours.
I really like the long one attached from Shein. is shein any good they've lots of nice clothes I've never ordered

likeamillpond · 18/04/2021 18:10

I agree
I notice when there are dramas on tv and they want to portray one of the female characters as being frumpy and down to earth (council house)type kitchen sink drama, they nearly always have her wearing a baggy cardigan.
Oh and the sleeves must be too long so you only see her thumbs.
The character is usually overweight as well.
So it ticks all the stereotype boxes.

Isaidachangewoulddoyougood · 18/04/2021 18:12

I’ve worn cardigans since - well, primary school i imagine. Don’t think they are frumpy - though some styles are of course

Ellpellwood · 18/04/2021 18:13

I'm not keen on fitted waist length any more - I used to wear a black one with tea dresses and tights about 10 years ago. I'm quite happy swishing about in a longline/boyfriend one though, with rolled straight leg jeans and trainers.

likeamillpond · 18/04/2021 18:14

Sorry but they ARE frumpy.
My mother loves a cardigan and buys numerous new ones.
She got upset with me once because she said i wasnt enthusiastic about her 'new outfit'
I said
There's only so many things you can say about a cardigan Confused

Foolintherain · 18/04/2021 18:17

I'll carry on wearing my cardigans in my council house and looking downtrodden and frumpy.

I don't care.

Ellpellwood · 18/04/2021 18:18

I'm not keen on this type of thing. Is it supposed to be workwear? If it's casual enough for white trainers then why the white blouse and cardi?

I used to hate cardigans for this reason and when l bought my first one last year l knew l had reached middle age!

thedevilinablackdress · 18/04/2021 18:20

You are funny.
It's like saying trousers are frumpy. Or t-shirts.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 18/04/2021 18:22

Beautiful, slim women can get away with things that ordinary looking women can't. It doesn't mean that the cardigan isn't intrinsically frumpy though. I say this even as I am tempted to buy a knee length stone coloured fluffy one I saw in a shop window during lockdown. I'm only deterred by my teenage daughter going 'urghh'.

butterpuffed · 18/04/2021 18:22

I love a long cardigan but only when it has pockets !

purpleme12 · 18/04/2021 18:23

Exactly
thedevilinablackdress · 18/04/2021 18:23

Also, the word frumpy can fuck right off. Men are never described as frumpy. No, just women when they're not sexy/stylish/young enough...jeez

Doghead · 18/04/2021 18:24

Absolutely frumpy. Should be worn in the house only.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 18/04/2021 18:24

As a slim pretty 20 something, I had a tight fitting short cardigan with pretty buttons that was worn done up and emphasised my boobs. Maybe that one was okay but only because I was a slim 20 something.

Foolintherain · 18/04/2021 18:25

@butterpuffed

I love a pocket. I won't buy a cardi if it doesn't have pockets.
