I genuinely don't think I've ever looked frumpy and I wear cardigans.

Men don't use the word frumpy but I think there's still a recognition when they wear something that's unflattering

To be fair, a bit of beige polyester on a man is not exactly the height of stylish elegance.

I like a cardi. Though I think short sleeved bolero style ones are frumpy so I wouldn't wear those

I've always worn cardigans for work - every office I've worked in has always been freezing!

I don't give a shit. I wear cardigans to keep warm and I think they look nice on me. If other people think they look "frumpy" (whatever that means) on me that's their problem, and they should sod off and stop being so judgemental.

I have a friend in her 70s, often wears a cardigan. She's hands down the most elegant person I know. They tend to be long and shes the opposite to frumpy. So no, you're wrong

I say, that's a bit brutish of you! I always found Lord and Lady Cardigan to be anything but 'frumpy'.
Some of their summer parties were rather racy and old Cardy was full of ribald jokes, and his impression of 'you know what..' with a cigar always brought the house down.

My cardigan/coat would blow your mind OP. It is bohemian with earthy colours. I really like the long one attached from Shein. is shein any good they've lots of nice clothes I've never ordered

I have ordered from Shein and been really surprised the quality and fit were good. I half expected to get a badly sewn dress that would only fit a doll for the price, but it was as good as cheaper British high street fashion. Sort of H&M standard.

All things I’ve heard about men’s appearances. I don’t think the word “frumpy” is necessarily a feminist issue. I’m quite happy to use it to describe myself when something looks unstylish and unflattering on me without feeling the weight of the patriarchy heavily raining down on me. I’m not being misogynistic to myself when I say it.

Long cashmere cardigans worn with good jeans and boots and a silk shirt - that's not frumpy. Thick cardigan over a sweater, with a big scarf on a snowy day is less frumpy than a padded coat or anorak.

In fairness to the OP, she did not specify the sex of the person wearing the cardigan, so why are posters leaping to assume it only refers to women? The be-cardiganed male is seldom presented as a sex God leading male figure, in my experience.
