AIBU to ask if you wear pyjamas / equivalent?

Just having a group chat on messenger and one member has said they don't understand why people sleep naked.

I'm not entirely sure therefore, what is the "norm"? Do more people sleep with pyjamas / equivalent on, than without? I obviously understand that it is down to personal choice.

AIBU to ask if you sleep with or without sleepwear? Genuinely interested - this isn't some weird fetish.

without. I have tried pyjamas but I am fat and it is uncomfortable

dementedpixie · 12/04/2021 10:40

Without. If I'm not getting dressed right away in the morning then I'll put pj's on

intheenddoesitreallymatter · 12/04/2021 10:41

With.

I used to sleep without but there’s nothing better than an ironed pair of pyjamas. I get very cold too.

Flippyferloppy · 12/04/2021 10:42

PJs, nightie or naked here. It varies

CreamFirstThenJamOnTop · 12/04/2021 10:42

I always wear pyjamas. DH is always naked.
Either is normal.

Aprilshowersandhail · 12/04/2021 10:43

Start off with pj's. Bedroom freezing!! Usually post night wee they come off!!

LeviAckerman · 12/04/2021 10:44

NAKED?

Oh no, no. What if a psycho killer breaks in? I can’t possibly fight him off if I was naked. Knickers on I could totally take him on.

Never full pyjamas as the trousers twist and drive me barmy.

ShirleyPhallus · 12/04/2021 10:44

I wear pj shorts and a soft cup sports bra

Hate how tight / restrictive long pjs feel if you sleep on your front with a knee up

And a nightie seems to just ride up around your waist, feels most odd

But really, I’m just here for the cries of “doesn’t discharge get all over the sheets if you sleep naked” and other MN sheet hysteria

cirrusminor · 12/04/2021 10:45

I think either is normal, though I used to think sleeping naked wasn't too common until I saw some threads on here.

I wear a vest and underwear in bed because that's what make me most comfortable, DP is naked. I'd love to have a cute PJ set to wear but DP emits so much heat that I'm always too warm even in winter!

BarbedBloom · 12/04/2021 10:45

Without. Cannot get comfy otherwise.

therocinante · 12/04/2021 10:46

I do whatever takes my mood, if I'm too warm I might not wear any, if I'm cold or want to be extra cosy I've been known to go to bed in full pyjamas, a dressing gown and fluffy socks.

Pupster21 · 12/04/2021 10:46

With. I’m always cold so need the warmth. Plus my 9 year old still sleeps with us, don’t think it’s appropriate to sleep naked next to him. He sleeps in just his undies though because he’s always warm.

Purplecatshopaholic · 12/04/2021 10:46

We both sleep naked. It’s the only way IMO, lol. I do have pyjama-esque type clothing, but tend to wear it round the house (particularly now!)

Natsku · 12/04/2021 10:47

Pyjamas on, unless its the height of summer and too hot to wear them. Men's flannel bottoms (as they have pockets, needed as I usually stay in my pyjamas for a while in the morning, or wear them in the evening after shower) and oversized t-shirt.

TooManyAnimals94 · 12/04/2021 10:48

Usually just in pants, sometimes with a t shirt. Can't sleep with anything on my legs...too hot and they give you a wedgie 😂

MiddleClassProblem · 12/04/2021 10:49

@BarbedBloom

Without. Cannot get comfy otherwise.
This. I don’t like creases etc under me, I get conscious of hems. I’ve had to buy things to go on hen dos when you inevitably habe to share a room with someone but I’m shit at sleeping in a room with someone who isn’t family anyway.
Sidewalksue · 12/04/2021 10:49

Naked. PJs or any clothing are super uncomfortable.

BlackInk · 12/04/2021 10:50

I'm a half n half lady... PJ trousers on, but naked on top. I just find it comfier unless it's very cold. DP always naked, even when camping. I feel a bit vulnerable naked for some reason.

I throw on a top if I have to get up to the DC during the night, and for evening/morning lounging (housework).

Shezlon · 12/04/2021 10:50

Have never worn pyjamas, I can't stand having hot legs in bed. Also can't use a sleeping bag 'normally' for the same reason, I have to unzip it and use it like a duvet so I can stick my feet out.
Since becoming menopausal, I can't wear anything, I get so hot.

Embracingthechaos · 12/04/2021 10:52

I sleep naked during the winter because it's hot as fuck where I live. During the summer I have the AC running during the night, which then makes the room cool enough that I can wear PJs.

I'm much more comfortable in PJs but I can't bring myself to turn the AC on in the winter. It seems like a middle finger to mother nature when I can just about deal with the temperature when naked.

MrsPnut · 12/04/2021 11:00

With definitely but I am often hot during the night and throw off the covers, I have tried without and I still get hot but then too cold with the covers off.

I always buy cotton jersey pj’s in too big a size so they are comfortable. I also always wear cashmere bed socks as well.

Gatehouse77 · 12/04/2021 11:07

Without. Too hot otherwise, even on my own!

LudoBear · 12/04/2021 11:08

Pyjamas. Naked if its exceptionally.

GRMA · 12/04/2021 11:11

Knickers and Vest top, Christ if I went to bed naked DH would think he was onto a promise LOL :)

wonkylegs · 12/04/2021 11:22

PJs in winter, nightie as it gets warmer and naked if it's very hot.
I don't sleep well (thanks to RA) so I am up a lot at night, I'm also often cold even in summer.
Can't have anything close to my neck though so it's vest top or button up pjs no t-shirt type.
