AIBU to ask if you wear pyjamas / equivalent?

Just having a group chat on messenger and one member has said they don't understand why people sleep naked.

I'm not entirely sure therefore, what is the "norm"? Do more people sleep with pyjamas / equivalent on, than without? I obviously understand that it is down to personal choice.

AIBU to ask if you sleep with or without sleepwear? Genuinely interested - this isn't some weird fetish.

@Creamcustards

Pjs, no pants!
Yes important point I missed out, no pants with my pj's.
lljkk · 13/04/2021 06:07

Friend told story about how her brother was staying over with his young child, who suddenly cried in middle of night. When friend & brother rushed to tend to the child is when friend discovered that she & brother are both nuddy sleepers. Fled in horror. They laughed the next day.

I'm freezing cold myself year round, 2-3 sets of PJs quite possible. But can't sleep in leggings (too hot legs).

MinnieMountain · 13/04/2021 06:23

Generally without. With if it’s particularly cold but I normally end up taking them off.

rentnotsub · 13/04/2021 06:51

Always pyjamas. Only wear the stretchy jersey ones though, the cotton button up ones are too uncomfortable.

knitonedropone · 13/04/2021 06:55

Without, I don't think I've ever slept in them that I can remember.

Arbadacarba · 13/04/2021 06:59

I don't like pjs but I can't sleep without a t-shirt on (a t-shirt style nightie). Sleeping naked just feels wrong - I don't mean, morally wrong, I mean psychologically not right.

shivawn · 13/04/2021 07:27

Naked always. Can't beat the feeling of fresh sheets against bare skin.

I keep my dressing gown hanging by the bed so if there was ever an emergency during the night (fire etc) I would just throw that on.

LaurieFairyCake · 13/04/2021 07:27

Always silk pyjamas- keeps me cool during the night - full length sleeves

In summer no sleeves - like silk camisole and french knickers sets

Toottootdrivers · 13/04/2021 07:51

With. I hate sleeping naked. I always feel like my boobs are flapping about.

RoseMartha · 13/04/2021 08:03

Nightie or nightshirt. I have got pj's that I have worn in the past and kept onto.

CuntyMcBollocks · 13/04/2021 08:23

I wear my pants and a vest top in bed. I find pyjamas or a nightie really annoying when you turn over and they get stuck. Drives me mad.

missbunnyrabbit · 13/04/2021 08:23

I've always worn a proper set of pyjamas. Keeps the bed sheets fresher for longer. My bf sleeps naked though.

ElsasFrozenVerucca · 13/04/2021 08:41

Pyjamas generally. But it can range from just a pair of knickers to pyjamas bed socks and dressing gown.

Isaidnope · 13/04/2021 09:32

Knickers and a T-shirt. I haven’t owned pyjamas since I was about 13/14.

VestaTilley · 13/04/2021 10:11

Always sleep in pyjamas here- a nightie if it’s roasting hot or double layers of pyjamas when it’s freezing!

I got DH in to wearing them as well when we got together and now he loves them - he used to just wear pants but I told him that was grim and converted him to good old fashioned pyjamas.

OldEvilOwl · 13/04/2021 10:14

Usually just a vest or t-shirt and knickers. Been wearing bottoms this week as we have a new puppy that needs to go for a wee in the night, and I don't want to get dressed for that

MahMahMahMahCorona · 13/04/2021 20:53

@MadsMikkelsensWaterBottle

Usually a T shirt and knickers, after a home invasion incident when I was younger and I was dragged from bed naked, I feel way too vulnerable to ever sleep naked.
Crikey @Mads, you've just made those who sleep dressed in formal wear, ready for psycho killers and rooves being blown off even more glad they have clothes on. I'm so sorry that happened to you - you must have been utterly terrified. Thanks

Always pyjamas as I feel the cold.

MahMahMahMahCorona · 13/04/2021 20:54

@FatAnneTheDealer

YABU not to have enabled voting so we would know the percentage of naked v pjs/nighties

I’m mostly naked, unless it is really, really cold and then it is a tee shirt on top but nothing underneath, because otherwise I just feel tied up (and that is not a fetish that turns me on) . I lived on a boat in the UK for 8 years, so I know about cold (there were many two duvet nights).

Pyjamas are for (very occasionally) before bed, but mainly for in the morning - lounge wear.

I’d be curious to know how old folks are. I’m old, but in the naked in bed camp.

I wish now that I had enabled voting - but I can't as am on the app. Such a missed opportunity!

Never a nightie cause they just ride up...dunno how to wear then properly!

I wear pyjamas mainly cause I get too cold on the night but in summer may sleep naked

MadsMikkelsensWaterBottle · 14/04/2021 18:04

Thank you, it was a horrific experience, and I still have the odd nightmare. My partner doesn't know about it and gets a bit miffed that I wont sleep all night naked, I just tell him I feel clammy at night. I wait until he falls asleep then put something on 😊

QuinionsRainbow · 15/04/2021 17:24

Naked since childhood, DH and me both. For me, it was all to do with a long hot summer and Mum and Dad deciding that my brother, sister and I (and they) would be more comfortable sleeping in the buff for the duration. Intended as a short-term expedient, come Autumn, none of us, especially Mum and Dad saw any good reason to go back to PJs, so we didn't.

And YANBU to ask the question - It's been a long time since it was last asked!

NewYorkready · 15/04/2021 18:05

I wear a top, nothing on my bottoms.

I get cold with no top but find bottoms/ nighties twist round and bunch up and are uncomfortable. I don't wear knickers either as I get awful thrush when I do.

GintyMcGinty · 15/04/2021 18:06

Cotton nightdresses are my preference.

The90swereadecadeago · 15/04/2021 23:28

Hate how tight / restrictive long pjs feel if you sleep on your front with a knee up

@ShirleyPhallus I can only wear long PJs bottoms if they’re cuffed at the ankle so they don’t ride up, my Primark ones feel like I have nothing on, so comfy! 😉
