AIBU to ask if you wear pyjamas / equivalent?

Just having a group chat on messenger and one member has said they don't understand why people sleep naked.

I'm not entirely sure therefore, what is the "norm"? Do more people sleep with pyjamas / equivalent on, than without? I obviously understand that it is down to personal choice.

AIBU to ask if you sleep with or without sleepwear? Genuinely interested - this isn't some weird fetish.

T-shirt and huge old lady pants - put on pyjama bottoms over the pants in the morning before getting dressed or in the evening after a bath or shower.

If I wear the bottoms in bed they twist round - if I wear short ones they give me a wedgie. I think it's because the pyjama bottoms are just made with a central seam which cuts you in half (even if you get a bigger size), whereas the huge pants have a proper gusset!

Coachee · 12/04/2021 11:54

Full pyjamas. Sometimes a nightie in the summer. Can’t abide sleeping naked. Wearing any kind of pants would be my worst scenario though. I hate pants at any time of day - at night at least I can be free of them!

NeedCoffeeToSurvive · 12/04/2021 11:58

Pyjama top and knickers, if I wear pyjama bottoms in bed they ride up my leg or get twisted and drive me mad, especially as I sleep in the superman pose. If it's really cold I'll wear legging type pyjamas so they don't ride up during the night.

Spidey66 · 12/04/2021 11:58

I wear a nighty. I don’t like pjs as I find my bits need some air!

Alsohuman · 12/04/2021 11:59

Birthday suit when I was young. Pyjamas these days, my blood has chilled!

sideboobissues · 12/04/2021 12:00

Pjs all the way here. 1) I don't want to be starkers with kids (& potentially outside Covid their friends) in the house. 2) I worry about having to find clothes should I unexpectedly need to make a run for it 3) I am a bit overweight and cannot stand my thighs getting stuck together in the middle of the nightWink.

I used to love sleeping naked Pre kids. And Pre chubby thighs. And side boob issues obviously.

TheFluffiestCat · 12/04/2021 12:00

Nightie or shorts and vest pyjamas in summer. Pyjama trousers make my legs too hot which makes them twitch. I haven't slept naked since an embarrassing sleepwalking experience in a shared flat.

Mamamamasaurus · 12/04/2021 12:03

Sometimes a vest. And I can't understand how but despite having bee stings for boobs, one is ALWAYS hanging out when I wake up

DH sleeps naked

Caiti19 · 12/04/2021 12:05

Another knickers and vest top here too. PJs would make me sweat. It's much easier to cope with the laundry implications of a daily vest change than it is full pyjamas. Wonder if this correlates with age. When I was early twenties, I used to wear pyjamas, and a fleece to bed - and never ever sweated. I was always freezing. Then I had kids, and my body suddenly knew how to sweat for the first time and I now heat up to a comfy temp within 60 seconds of getting under duvet - even it's below zero outside of the duvet.

cheezy · 12/04/2021 12:06

I have to have a very cold room to sleep in so getting up would be harder if naked so it’s shorts and old t shirt. Occasionally flannel pjs. In the summer sleeping naked is nice though.

MeanWeedratStew · 12/04/2021 12:07

I'm in Australia and always wear PJs, no matter how warm it gets. Much as I'd love feel comfortable in my naked skin, I just... don't. Too vulnerable. Blush

KeepSmiling89 · 12/04/2021 12:12

Always wear PJs. I just don't feel comfortable sleeping naked.

JaceLancs · 12/04/2021 12:17

Depends on the weather
If cold I have a variety of brushed cotton nightshirts
If warm prefer to be naked

Meruem · 12/04/2021 12:19

I always wear a short sleeve nightie and knickers. In heatwaves it’ll be a vest top and knickers. I can’t sleep naked, it just doesn’t feel comfortable to me. Full on pyjamas would make me too hot though.

I get up and shower and change into pyjamas or lounge wear. Unless I’m going somewhere in which case I wear “proper” clothes!

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 12/04/2021 12:21

With but very minimal, very short shorts and a vest.
I slept naked for a short time during my last pregnancy because I couldn't stand my pjs. That was fun in the middle of winter, going to the toilet 40 times a night 🤣

takingmytimeonmyride · 12/04/2021 12:24

@LeviAckerman

NAKED?

Oh no, no. What if a psycho killer breaks in? I can’t possibly fight him off if I was naked. Knickers on I could totally take him on.

Never full pyjamas as the trousers twist and drive me barmy.

This! My DP sleeps naked it I worry about burglars, fires, the roof blowing off etc. Need to be ready to run or fight off axe murderers. Wouldn't want to anyone to see me naked fleeing from any of the above.
carolinesbaby · 12/04/2021 12:27

Gave up sleeping naked when I had kids and had to trot downstairs at 4am to warm bottles up. I like a nightie, or lightweight trousers and a vest.

Livpool · 12/04/2021 12:30

Usually just a t shirt or vest with knickers. I used to sleep naked but DS (5) often gets in our bed during the night so don't do that anymore

HarleyQuinnn · 12/04/2021 12:30

Either naked, or knickers & vest/shorts and vest

PattyPan · 12/04/2021 12:35

I always wear pyjamas. What if there was a fire in the night and you had to run outside naked!

Tal45 · 12/04/2021 12:37

In winter I love to sleep with, in summer I love to sleep without.

Shodan · 12/04/2021 12:38

Nightie. Always a nightie.
I tried pjs but I'm a very restless sleeper so they ended up all twisted around my crotch. Plus too hot.

I do have different kinds of nighties though. Calf length if I'm feeling particularly cold, chemises for the summer, short sleeved knee length for most of the time.

FuckyouCovid21 · 12/04/2021 12:40

Naked unless it's TOTM and then I only wear pants

Bomchiccawick · 12/04/2021 12:40

Pjs I get cold and if there was a fire/burglar etc I wouldn’t want to be worrying about being naked.

8lue8ird · 12/04/2021 12:43

With, but usually just a vest and knickers or a vest and shorts as I can't abide anything touching my legs and getting all twisted as I sleep. However I'm now suffering horrific night sweats and I'm torn as to what to wear. Dilemma
