AIBU to ask if you wear pyjamas / equivalent?

Just having a group chat on messenger and one member has said they don't understand why people sleep naked.

I'm not entirely sure therefore, what is the "norm"? Do more people sleep with pyjamas / equivalent on, than without? I obviously understand that it is down to personal choice.

AIBU to ask if you sleep with or without sleepwear? Genuinely interested - this isn't some weird fetish.

@Shezlon - have tried other duvets and this is best compromise as DH roasts!

Think I am just destined to be a permanently cold body. Was sitting by the fire a few weeks ago for about 5 hours. The rest of the family had to start undressing after about half an hour but I was merely "not cold". Bit of a standing joke but our house is old and made of granite and I try to reduce heating use as we're not on mains.

A few Xmases ago DH bought me a "duvet suit" - look like a Michelin man wearing it but it does keep me warm!!

Talkingmouse · 12/04/2021 16:36

Naked.

A lot of unnecessary stresses in many of these comments above...

MaryShelley1818 · 12/04/2021 20:31

Naked or with pants/soft bra top atm as breastfeeding and constantly have child in my bed

TeaAddict235 · 12/04/2021 20:43

@NursePye , a duvet suit you say? Sounds useful. I too have the thermal setting of a reptile. Even in peak summer a pj set & socks are a must for me

FatAnneTheDealer · 12/04/2021 21:18

YABU not to have enabled voting so we would know the percentage of naked v pjs/nighties

I’m mostly naked, unless it is really, really cold and then it is a tee shirt on top but nothing underneath, because otherwise I just feel tied up (and that is not a fetish that turns me on) . I lived on a boat in the UK for 8 years, so I know about cold (there were many two duvet nights).

Pyjamas are for (very occasionally) before bed, but mainly for in the morning - lounge wear.

I’d be curious to know how old folks are. I’m old, but in the naked in bed camp.

lazylinguist · 12/04/2021 21:50

Pyjamas. And fluffy bed socks from about September to May! It's partly because I do get quite cold, but even when it's hot I wear pyjamas. I feel uncomfortable in bed naked, to the point that I find it hard to get to sleep. It's not a modesty or vulnerability thing or a fear of having to get up naked in an emergency. It just feels physically not comfortable to me!

MeanWeedratStew · 12/04/2021 22:55

I'm in awe of all you nudists. When I lived in the UK I never felt warm enough. My British boyfriend (now DH) tried to convince me to ditch the flannelette PJs and wear just sexy knickers (or nothing) to bed. Nope! Warmth before sexiness for me.

OrangeFluff · 12/04/2021 23:04

Naked all year round. I have a dressing gown in case of fire/axe murderer. Just wondering what all the pyjama wearers do when they have sex? Do you take everything off, have sex, then get dressed up in your full pjs and socks afterwards?

Bagelsandbrie · 12/04/2021 23:06

Pjs. No way could I sleep naked. Too cold and too exposed!

Bagelsandbrie · 12/04/2021 23:06

Yep - exactly this. Romantic isn’t it Grin
MagnoliaXYZ · 12/04/2021 23:08

Sleep naked at home (or just pants when on my period). When I stay elsewhere, I do wear pyjamas as I don't want to accidentally flash anyone, have forgotten to pack them on more than one occasion and had to buy them en-route. I have a nightie at the end of the bed should I need to answer the door etc.

bellropes · 12/04/2021 23:09

I sleep in clothing. I don't like being undressed.

Camomila · 12/04/2021 23:11

PJs, a vest and socks - I get cold easily.

Even in a really warm summer I sleep in knickers and a vest top.

Musicalmistress · 12/04/2021 23:13

@Shezlon

Have never worn pyjamas, I can't stand having hot legs in bed. Also can't use a sleeping bag 'normally' for the same reason, I have to unzip it and use it like a duvet so I can stick my feet out. Since becoming menopausal, I can't wear anything, I get so hot.
I'm in your camp wit the sleeping bag too!
KatherineJaneway · 12/04/2021 23:14

With. Too cold without pj's.

Needsleep32 · 12/04/2021 23:22

With, but only since having children. If they’re at a sleepover, without! Much more comfortable.

FizzyTarte · 12/04/2021 23:42

I’m single and a cold bod- I sleep in either pj bottoms or joggers, vest, long sleeve tshirt and a hoodie! Plus fleece sheet, a 10 tog duvet, a velour throw and for a few months of the year an electric blanket too! Seems excessive after reading the thread but this is how I’m cosy and comfortable in winter. In summer I wear thin pj bottoms and a vest top, but always the duvet!

MadsMikkelsensWaterBottle · 12/04/2021 23:47

Usually a T shirt and knickers, after a home invasion incident when I was younger and I was dragged from bed naked, I feel way too vulnerable to ever sleep naked.

littlepattilou · 13/04/2021 00:05

I wear a little satin nightie in bed, very similar to this. Smile

MeanWeedratStew · 13/04/2021 00:17

@OrangeFluff

Yes. Yes I do. Grin

CharlotteRose90 · 13/04/2021 00:51

I wear pjs haha. I can not sleep naked however hard I try. I end up having weird dreams or start thinking If a burglar breaks in I’m in a bad situation. I sleep in knickers and a tishirt or vest or full length pjs. I have a bad habit of wearing a bra Aswell as I can’t stand the feeling of being all out .

WeWereOnABreak10 · 13/04/2021 00:54

Knickers for me and hubby is in boxers! I do wonder if there was ever an emergency in the night that we'd have have to just jump up and leave the house naked! Haha!

Creamcustards · 13/04/2021 01:06

Pjs, no pants!

MistyGreenAndBlue · 13/04/2021 01:37

I wear a thin jersey nightie all year round. Straps as I cant stand even short sleeves in bed. Pyjamas of any kind are my idea of Hell but I'm not comfortable being naked.

rainbowlou · 13/04/2021 01:44

Usually pj shorts or knickers and a vest top.
I have prepped DH as to what he needs to go out and buy if I ever end up in hospital and need appropriate ones!!
