AIBU to ask if you wear pyjamas / equivalent?

Just having a group chat on messenger and one member has said they don't understand why people sleep naked.

I'm not entirely sure therefore, what is the "norm"? Do more people sleep with pyjamas / equivalent on, than without? I obviously understand that it is down to personal choice.

AIBU to ask if you sleep with or without sleepwear? Genuinely interested - this isn't some weird fetish.

Always pjs , I couldn’t sleep naked ever even in the really hot weather it would feel extremely strange

Isn't that exactly what a fetishist would say?

MahMahMahMahCorona · 12/04/2021 14:28

@Aprilshowersandhail

I used to just wear a thong for bed.. Stayed at bil's once and ds slept in the kitchen in a travel cot.. Got up early one morning to see to him and heard a polite cough. Bil was standing behind me drinking a cuppa!! Blush
Oh good grief how embarrassing!

Having said that - isn't a thong the most uncomfortable piece of clothing on the planet? Albeit I expect that's another AIBU, and given @HeeeeeyBogie suggesting I have a pyjama / no pyjama fetish, I'm just not willing to AIBU thong or granny pants...

PJs but no underwear wouldn’t want anything tight on my arse. Also scared of being robbed/running from a fire.
Also shower in evening then chill in pjs.

People who sleep naked-do you take off all your clothes right before bedtime and just hop into bed straight away. Or if you shower in the evening, do you just drop the towel and get straight into bed? Or do you walk around naked for a while before bed?. Or wear pjs for just the evening and take them off when you go to bed? I don’t understand the logistics of naked sleeping

needadvice54321 · 12/04/2021 14:32

Oh God definitely with!! On the rare occasion that I've not got any PJ's on, I'm so uncomfortable BlushGrin

sistersnottwins · 12/04/2021 14:34

Usually pants and a vest. Sometimes pyjama bottoms when I get into bed if it's cold but they don't last long as I get too hot.

SomewhereInbetween1 · 12/04/2021 14:34

Full pyjamas, long legs, long arms and socks - the lot! I am perpetually cold and have been known to sleep in a hoodie as well!

takingmytimeonmyride · 12/04/2021 14:40

I do sometimes sleep naked when I'm round DP's (we don't live together) but at home I have a house full of teenage boys, who I don't think would appreciate seeing me naked in the middle of the night, so I sleep with pyjamas on. I love pyjamas, they are my favourite clothes, and I feel very comfortable and snug wearing them.

It is true that I have not had the roof blow off, fire or axe murderers visit, but I like to be prepared for every eventuality. Grin

HikeForward · 12/04/2021 14:43

I wear soft leggings and a tight fitting long top or tunic. Not pjs in the traditional sense but it’s less embarrassing answering the door at weekends if you’re still wearing them past noon. And tight fitting means they don’t flap about or get twisted when you roll over.

I could never sleep naked! What if child woke up? Our house is warm but the windows stay open in winter for fresh air, so getting out of bed even for a wee would be freezing! Then having to put something on anyway when your alarm goes off or DC wake up.

Plus the extra laundry, PJs keep the bedding clean.

If DC wake up I have a handily placed dressing gown I put on as I dash from my room to theirs...

Of an evening I go from day wear into lounge wear - either have a shower at that point, or shower in the morning. But generally from around 6-7pm I'm in joggers and a long / short sleeved t shirt. I take these off and hop into bed when I'm ready. I guess they're like my equivalent of pyjamas!

I have to wear pyjamas, even though I'm perimenopausal and have hot flushes. Even before this, I found it really uncomfortable to sleep naked and my legs seemed to stick together, so I need the fabric between them. I also feel literally and psychologically naked when I'm naked Grin

bloodyhell19 · 12/04/2021 14:58

Always without, but I keep a set by the end of the bed in case of emergencies etc. so I can get up & pull them on quickly and easily.

picklemewalnuts · 12/04/2021 15:00

With. Used to be nighties, but PJs now. I wouldn't want to sleep naked. Would feel a bit exposed, and would need to wash sheets more often,

Cattenberg · 12/04/2021 15:02

Yes, I wear pyjamas (and pants). I like being warm and don’t really feel the heat until it gets above 27c.

MarinPrime · 12/04/2021 15:07

I've always slept naked. Most clothes feel uncomfortable to me when I wear them in the day so couldn't sleep if I wore anything at night.
I woke up once smelling smoke and hearing flames crackling, instinct took over and I found myself standing by the front door wearing the dressing gown that's always kept next to the bed.
Turned out a nearby disused building had been set on fire and we had to evacuate for a short time but it was a good trial run.

stillcrazyafterall · 12/04/2021 15:20

@LeviAckerman

NAKED?

Oh no, no. What if a psycho killer breaks in? I can’t possibly fight him off if I was naked. Knickers on I could totally take him on.

Never full pyjamas as the trousers twist and drive me barmy.

I work on the theory that if anyone broke in and I confronted them naked they would never, ever, risk breaking into another house. They WOULD be traumatised for life. Just the sound of my boobs flapping as I ran down the stairs would have them screaming for mercy...
Changingwiththetimes · 12/04/2021 15:28

I wear an oversized long t shirt, my husband slept naked.

ccroft · 12/04/2021 15:33

Without, I get too warm.

Shezlon · 12/04/2021 15:35

@NursePye

God you lot must have warm houses!! I'm still in long pjs, electric blanket, wool duvet and wool blanket on top!! Admittedly I am and always have been a very cold person (literally not emotionally Smile) but there is no way I could sleep with nothing on.

I was actually looking forward to hot flushes of perimenopause in the hope that they would warm me up but they seem to have passed me by HmmGrin.

DH thinks that I am actually a reptile Grin

Nope, cold house and even colder bedroom. DH is fully dressed for bed and has to pile blankets on top of our lightweight duvet on his side. Just get bloody hot! By the way, wool duvets are better for NOT overheating, you might find a down-filled one a lot warmer.
Makeuplover · 12/04/2021 16:04

Same as @ShirleyPhallus great username though.

hullaballoo19 · 12/04/2021 16:11

Really varied for me! Sometimes naked, sometimes pj trousers and a T-shirt, sometimes just a T-shirt and very occasionally just pj trousers. Depends on mood, temperate and insecurity levels for me

Eyevorbig0ne · 12/04/2021 16:14

Usually naked but I've been freezing lately so pyjamas.

I've just laughed out loud and the DC have run in asking "what's the matter??" - I can't bring myself to tell them because the visual image is so close to the truth 🤣

I lounge in full pyjamas but take the bottoms off to go to bed
