I've gone to M & S and Sainsbury's this afternoon, and there are no Easter eggs left . Literally none at all. Why??

@Sparklingbrook

How can dropping a couple of Easter eggs for family in your shopping trolley be 'exhausting'? Confused Grin

I do remember eggs being in supermarkets after Easter being sold really cheaply, but not for a good few years.

Bargain at 69 quid now! You'll be waiting 1-2 months though, apparently![/quote]
Perfect. if I order now I'll get it in good time for next Easter. Grin

@Sparklingbrook

Tbh, you may have left it slightly late..

MessAllOver · 03/04/2021 22:49

We bought a set of ten colourful plastic eggs last year into which we can put a few chocolate buttons or coins for our 3yo to find in the garden. I must admit I was very grateful for them when I saw the shelves completely stripped in the supermarket yesterday Confused. Shame as I quite enjoy a cut-price egg in the aftermath of Easter. Not a Lindt bunny or a bag of chocolate eggs to be had anywhere. Tbh though I think that's probably enough chocolate for a small child....I feel sorry for parents of older children with more inflated expectations though Grin. Definitely lean pickings for those who (like me) tend to leave it to the last minute.

I love it when people say
*
They've been in shops for months. From 99p in ALDI. *

I don't live near an Aldi, I'd have to get 2 buses to get to one. The nearest LIDL I know how to get there by car, but not bus, it would be hard as it's a different county.

I get a taxi for click and collect once a week to my nearest Tesco with my baby. I didn't think of nipping into the supermarket for eggs as that would add more money to the taxi fare due to waiting time. I try not to go to local convenience stores as so much more expensive.

Plus there's been this pandemic thing, but I've obviously been the only one not shopping loads. Life is harder when you can't afford a car. I'd try to win the lottery, but it's quite a costly pastime these days

I've overdone it a bit with the Lindt bunnies this year... I might have to melt them down and make something with them! Grin

Substitute ALDI for Tesco, Tesco click and collect, Tesco local, CoOP, LIDL, Sainsburys, your corner shop, Home Bargains, B&M, Pound shops, local newsagent... take your pick.

It wouldn't have been that hard to add one to your Tesco click and collect order tbf.

Sorry Blush
I wish I could give you one of them.

dottiedaisee · 03/04/2021 23:02

I think it is perfectly reasonable to try and buy an egg today .Funnily enough some people have a lot to think about rather than buying Easter eggs ie illness ,busy trying to earn money to keep a roof over their family head ,other priorities!
I did get eggs last week because I had the time ,money and headspace to think about it . I really hope that everyone has managed to get one for their children. 🐣

MessAllOver · 03/04/2021 23:06

@CricketClub. It's a bit disturbed, but I'm enjoying picturing that perfect Lindt bunny being melted down to make chocolate sauce for ice cream or something like that.

The day hasn't been a total write off despite not finding any eggs in the supermarket. My mother sent a large chocolate egg for my DS so, like any responsible parent, I'm scoffing it myself before he sees it.

I'm sorry, what now?

MessAllOver · 03/04/2021 23:12

@JesusIsAnyNameFree. It's a giant Maltesers egg with lots of chocolate bunnies. Very nice.

CricketClub · 03/04/2021 23:13

jesus - I'm sorry, what now?

My fault. I'm upsetting everyone with my Lindt bunny haul.
I bought too many. Forgot we won't be seeing anyone and suggested melting them down for the top of a cake or something.

I'll leave now...

EvilOnion · 03/04/2021 23:14

I'm normally a last minute kind of person and normally it's fine but of course this isn't a normal Easter...

I left work this evening at 9pm - ran around 4 shops and there wasn't so much as a cream egg!

The Easter bunny has brought my 8yo a giant tub of Haribo and a box of Lucky charms, my 15yo has a giant Toblerone and a box of Reese's cereal Blush I'm sure they'll live Grin

Yoffel · 03/04/2021 23:27

I think the real issue is the kink in the space-time continuum which takes you from scoffing ‘I can’t BELIEVE they have Easter eggs out already, that’s RIDICULOUS’, to ‘FUCK ITS EASTER!!!’ with no time in between. It happens at Christmas too - the time between mid November and December 22nd doesn’t actually exist.

MessAllOver · 03/04/2021 23:29

No one told me that Easter eggs had to be held on trust. I thought embezzlement was assumed.

BlackCatShadow · 04/04/2021 04:54

Just wanted to wish you all a Happy Easter!

It's been a tough year for everyone.
