Aibu?

Went to a local garden centre with my mum which sells pet products. Had my mums 17 week old puppy with me. Walked around the outside part first and puppy did two wees on the grass. Took him inside and he decided to do another wee. Very embarrassed as he had already done 2 and wouldnt have let him walk inside if he hadn't recently done. Anyway, my mum went off to the toilets to get some loo roll, both dry to clean up and wet to wash the area. Then I went to find a member of staff to see if they had any anti bac spray I could use. Rather than giving me some, I was told to take the dog out as it wasn't trustworthy. Explained he had already done 2 wees so this wasn't expected. Was still told to leave and the dog was banned from the place. This was a small independent garden centre not a big chain company. Oh the offending dog? A chihuahua!

Aibu to think if you sell pet products, it's expected people will bring their dogs in (signs say dogs welcome) and occasional their maybe be a accident.

Banning your dog was completely over the top, unless it was a repeat offense

It pissed three times.

Thats repeating the offense.

Plus as a chihuahua puppy it would have been the sized of a 10p piece...

The entitlement here. Why anyone would think it's ok to have their fucking stinking dog pissing all over a shop is beyond me.

LudoBear · 25/03/2021 08:50

Why are you all still replying and having a go at me? I've accepted I was wrong. That's the end of it. No need to say nasty things about me or my dog.

Why does the breed matter? Are you expecting exceptions to be made because you have a chihuahua? Would it have been acceptable for a staffy pup to be banned? Confused

FTEngineerM · 25/03/2021 09:17

Pup 1 looks suspicious @Soubriquet 😂

Grin

She’s a sweetie really. She is honestly one of the friendliest dogs I’ve ever met. Doesn’t have a bad bone in her body and just loves everyone which is unusual for her breed as they are usually loyal to one person/family

Actually I don’t think you are at all unreasonable to presume that an establishment that allows dogs in has accepted the fact they there will be the occasional accident.

This happens all the time at Pets At Home and the staff are lovely about it.

GirlInterruptedAgain · 25/03/2021 09:49

Sainsbury’s sell dog food and pet products. Would you walk your dog around Sainsbury’s? The fact that it’s a chihuahua makes no difference.

PineappleCat · 25/03/2021 09:51

YABU. It's still a shop, and it's their call.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 25/03/2021 09:54

God! My puppy pee'd in quite a few pet shops, left me mortified. All but the local independent pet shop were lovely about it, most cuddled the pup whilst I cleaned Smile

That time between beng toilet trained and it being fully ingrained, just don't ever wee in any indoors, can be fraught!

But 17 weeks is too soon to be toddling a pup anywhere. It's only just had its vaccs, and certainly won't be reliable!

Norwaydidnthappen · 25/03/2021 09:57

YABU to even see this as an issue. Of course you were kicked out, your dog pissed on their floor.

gutful · 25/03/2021 09:58

Puppies are meant to be learning how to wee outside by this age

You took the puppy to a garden centre with all those planty interesting smells

This could have been foreseen

My dogs are my kids & think YABBVU

Of course it's not ok for your puppy to wee in a shop. Carnt belive this needed to be asked.
