My mil has said that because I'm 30 this year we'd better get a move on and have babies soon because otherwise I'll be too old.. Hmm

I'm having yet another miscarriage so this feels a bit of a slap in the face tbh. I know that the risk increases with age but I'm 30 not 50!

Aibu to tell her to go away and I'll have a baby when I've lost weight and if that's a year or so who gives a shit

Catflapkitkat · 16/03/2021 17:39

So sorry about your miscarriage. Tell your DH to have a word with her. She doesn't have to know all the details. But he can say - stop going on about it being too late
It's non e.of your business and we don't like it

Jjacobb · 16/03/2021 17:40

Sorry posted too soon there.
I'm so sorry you're going through this . Your mil needs to butt out. You have plenty of time

Your mil needs to mind her own business - get DH to tell her.

Sorry for your miscarriages. Agree with previous posters, your DH needs to tell her, kindly but firmly, to keep her gob shut because what she’s saying is hurtful.

I suppose 30 was relatively late when your MIL was a young woman, particularly among women who didn’t have a career. It probably still is for women who don’t have careers as such: of the women I went to school with, those who didn’t go on to university generally all had a couple of DC by the time they were mid-twenties; those who did, not until their early thirties.

I had 4 before 30 but I think I had mine early. I wouldn't think 30 was late at a. So sorry for you loss, I know from experience people can say really hurtful and thoughtless things when you've had a miscarriage Flowers.

Midlifephoenix · 16/03/2021 17:47

41 and 43. Friends have had kids (all conceived naturally) at 40 (several had kids at that age), 41, 45 and 46.
While I wouldn't suggest waiting until you are 40, I would say you have a number of years yet!

Your mother in law sounds vile. I'm guessing she doesn't know your situation.

I was 27 with my first and I'll be 31 when my next baby is born but I was among the first of my friends to have a baby.

30 is definitely not pushing it age wise. I also found that losing a bit of weight made a difference to how I felt when TTC and even regarding my weight and eating healthy now that I'm pregnant again.
