My mil has said that because I'm 30 this year we'd better get a move on and have babies soon because otherwise I'll be too old.. Hmm

I'm having yet another miscarriage so this feels a bit of a slap in the face tbh. I know that the risk increases with age but I'm 30 not 50!

Aibu to tell her to go away and I'll have a baby when I've lost weight and if that's a year or so who gives a shit

OP posts:

26 and 28

notfromstepford · 16/03/2021 18:43

Sorry to hear you're going through that OP Flowers
Had mine at 37 and 41

tinytoucan · 16/03/2021 18:44

Sorry for your loss Flowers

31 and 35. Most people I know were in their 30s when they started to have kids. Obviously there are no guarantees but probability suggests you still have plenty of time Smile

MixedUpFiles · 16/03/2021 18:44

34

Only had one friend who had a baby in her 20s and that was definitely not planned, but they were 24 and married and decided to just go with it.

Makingnumber2 · 16/03/2021 18:45

31 and just had a m/c at 33

rainbowdashsneeze · 16/03/2021 18:45

19 and 23

Mumof1andacat · 16/03/2021 18:45

Mine at 28, my good friend had her first at 37 (she is 40 this year is ttc after her birthday in june) and a lady I worked with had her 4th at 46. My nana had 2 of her children in her early 40's in the 1960's that was massively unheard of then.

SpiderinaWingMirror · 16/03/2021 18:46

26, 29 And 39.
Tell mil to mind her own.

maddiemookins16mum · 16/03/2021 18:47
  1. I’m blaming the white port late at night on my 40th birthday shortbreak in Lisbon. DD was born nearly 35 weeks after that night (she was early).
Jumpers268 · 16/03/2021 18:48

Firstly, I'm so sorry you're going through this. I'm guessing your MIL doesn't know the situation but even so I've never known why people feel the need to say anything about someone else having children or NOT. It pisses me off so much as it's so insensitive.

I had my son at 29. I then had 4 miscarriages in the 2 years after he was born. I then decided, as is a personal choice, that I couldn't go through it any more. I'm 34 now. I get so pissed at people saying "oh he's an only child, why don't you have more so he's not lonely" and other shit along those lines. Oh and "only children are always spoilt, you should definitely have another soon so that doesn't happen".

It is none of her business if you don't want it to be. I'm enraged on your behalf.

DuggeeHugPlease · 16/03/2021 18:50

So sorry you're going through this.

Mine were at 33 and 36 - both conceived within a couple of months of trying.

Also mums in my friendship / nursery group are of a similar age to me if not slightly older.

pumpkinmamma · 16/03/2021 18:50

28 and 31, although DC 2 isn’t here yet, but i’ve had my birthday.
i was the first of my similarly aged friends to have a baby but there are quite a few now who were born 6-12 months after DC 1.

Alreadyinmypyjamas · 16/03/2021 18:52

@Jjacobb

27, 39, 46 I like a gap 😀
Bloody hell - they are some serious gaps!

I had my first at 27 and I'm currently (really early) pregnant with my second at 32.

2021youpromisedyoudbebetter · 16/03/2021 18:53

Just had my first, pregnant at 30 and gave birth just after turning 31. If we have a second then I dont think we would start trying till our first is 2 or older so would expect to have our second by 35.

Marvelwife123 · 16/03/2021 18:54

26, 29, 32

Zakidoodles23 · 16/03/2021 18:54

29 and 34. Started ttc at 26 but it was more difficult to conceive than anticapted

Pancakepipsqueak · 16/03/2021 18:55

27 and 30 - I’m one of the first of my friendship group though!

Backtoschool101 · 16/03/2021 18:56

21, 23, 25 and 27.

Your mil needs to be quiet. Perhaps dh should have a quiet word and explain?

Lizadork · 16/03/2021 18:57

15 and 28. No more, all done.

Knitterbabe · 16/03/2021 18:58

33 ( twins)

Carouselfish · 16/03/2021 18:58

34 and 39. I do wish I'd done it earlier in part due to how tired it makes you, but largely because I and my parents would get more time with them before we're too old/dead!

MojoJojo71 · 16/03/2021 19:00

25 and 41

You are definitely not too old

Nicklebox · 16/03/2021 19:01

31, 33, 36

happymummy12345 · 16/03/2021 19:02

I'm sorry you're going through this.
I had mine at 22, we initially hoped for a 5-6 year gap between, we didn't want to try for another until our first was settled at school. Our son is in reception now, but with everything going on we have decided to wait before trying for another. I'm nearly 28 and I'm not worried about it.

My mum had her children 10 years apart though. There's 10 years between my brother and I, 10 years between my brother and sister, and 20 years between my sister and I.

Authenticchicken · 16/03/2021 19:02

32 and 35. I thought I was ancient until it turned out most people round here have babies after about age 34 with many I know having them much later. Don't get pushed into something so huge by anyone else, OP.
